Chapter 8: Revenge I

   Feeling the evolution happening to his body, Maverick paused in his footsteps. He immersed himself in the wonderful feeling of evolution.

  "Crack"

   A cracking sound resonated throughout his body, and suddenly, Maverick felt something change within him. He felt much lighter, as if an immense burden which held down his body had been totally let loose.

  At the same time, he felt his perception of his environment amplifying, he sensed that even without his sight, he could feel and sense all the living and none living things within five meter radius of his surrounding.

   Maverick wasn’t sure why he was able to do this now or exactly what had happened, but he had an intuition that it had something to do with his soul getting stronger.

   However, Maverick knew too little about souls and evolution as a whole, but now was not the time to dwell on it, so he'll stick with this assumption for the time being.

    Maverick was shocked by the system's words but he wasn't too affected, although the system had helped him survive and even attain strength and capital to become the mightiest being, he wasn't over reliant on it's rewards.

     Maverick claimed the slop and head toward the settlement, the place which he had lived all his life in. It was known as the Silver road.

      After killing the three disorderly men, Maverick knew that he could no longer continue with his old life because the district Lord and his daughter will surely come after him to finish what they started when they learn that he had survived.

       Due to this, Maverick plans to go into hiding and leave the Silver Road, going somewhere that is outside the jurisdiction of the District Lord, which was, of course, another district in the city.

    However, before he leaves, Maverick wants to give his parents a good burial and pick up some important items from the house.

      When Maverick arrived at the Silver Road, it was already dawn, bright red rays from the sun pierced toward the ground, shining upon the rooftops and the street.

   At this moment, the street was not empty and quiet like last night under the thunderstorm and the mayhem caused by his parent's assassination.

   There were few people outside going about with their duties. However, as soon as those people saw Maverick, they all ran inside, not wanting to have any conversation with him.

    They were all afraid that the District Lord would come after them if they dared to have any contact with Maverick.

   Although they had ran in and shut their doors, these people weren't deaf or blind to what had happened last night, they simply didn't want to get involved due to the fear of the District lord.

   As he walked on the street, Maverick watched all the people running into their homes expressionlessly. He wasn't bothered in the slightest by their action.

     A couple of moments later, Maverick finally arrived in the house. The first thing he did was to go to pick up some shovel and venture into the backyard before digging the ground.

     Maverick dug two graves, one for his mother and the other for his father, and then, he went into the house to bring out their bodies before berrying them one after the other.

   Meanwhile, Ashley and her boyfriend Kevin returned to the district lords mansion in a car after having some fun in a bar somewhere.

   Although both of them had drank a lot of bear, they weren't drunk. They got out of the car and walked into the district lord's mansion.

   The District lords mansion was a grand building that was two stories tall. It was made up of refined wood that glittered brightly and was designed in such a way that attracted peoples attention.

   Around the Mansion was a small garden that was filled with yellow leaf flowers. A lot of the District lords men dressed in greenish brown outfits could be seen around the area patrolling.

    The district lords mansion was located in the middle of a vast layout of roads each road crammed with houses that we're arranged in a linear pattern forming several linear settlements.The silver road where Maverick's house was located was among these roads.

    The couple happily skipped into the building, not caring about the guards who treated them respectfully.

     As they arrived inside the spacious pallor of the mansion, they met up with a bearded middle-aged man who had a scar on his face.

  This middle-aged man was dressed distinguished in a black coat and a black tie. He relaxed on the sofa as he sipped smoke from the thin cigarette pipe in his hand.

    "greetings, father."

    "greetings uncle"

  Ashely and Kevin both greeted the middle aged man who was of course Gassier Roy, Ashely's father, Kevin's uncle and the District Lord of the Merlan district which comprises of all the roads in the surrounding that were classified as territories in the district.

    "Did you finish the job?" Gassier said expressionlessly. He wasn't in the mood for greeting until he heard the results of the mission he sent Ashely and Kevin to accomplish. It was very important and was tied to his goals and ambitions.

  "yes dad, I oversaw Sherlock killing the Michelson couple, it was just as you suspected, those two might be weakened but they still hide some strength in them, if it were anyone who had tried to assassinate them apart from Sherlock, they wouldn't have succeeded.

   "Great, you did a good job," Gassier applauded as he dropped his cigarette. Then he asked, " What about the boy? Did you kill him?"

  "No, I couldn't dirty my hands with that trash, I told Sebastian and the other to deal with them," Ashely said.

  "What!" Gassier furiously slammed his hands on the table. "how many times have I told you to never underestimate anyone, how can you leave there without assuring his death, Sebastian and the others still haven't returned, what if they've failed to kill him"

     "But dad, he's just a weak mortal. There's no way that they'll fail to kill him," Ashely returned begrudgingly.

  "she's right uncle, there's no need worrying about the piece of trash," Kevin came.

   "You brainless idiots, how in the world can you be certain that he is just a mortal, what if the Michelson’s trained him as an Evolver in secret to become their last hope to rise again?, or what if someone affiliated with the Michelsons, helped him after you were gone?, why is it that you two always act so carelessly"

   "Get out of here now and go find out whether the boy died or not, take some men with you and bring me his corpse!" Gassier yelled angrily.

   Following Gasser’s yell, Ashely and Keven had no choice but to reluctantly bring some capable men with them and enter their car and drive back into the silver road.

    The journey didn't take too long. They arrived in the Silver Road in half an hour and reached Maverick's house in a few minutes.

       The instant in which they reached the house, they dropped out of the car and approached.

   Meanwhile, inside the house, Maverick who was praying for the souls of his parents to be in piece suddenly sensed that some people had entered into the house through his perception that can spread up to five meters of his surrounding.

    Upon sensing them, he quickly turned around and clenched the spear with both hands. He was getting ready for battle.
