Chapter 6 - Power Out of Control

The air started to heat up as James slowly got up. His condition was strange; his eyes were white, and the wounds all over his body slowly recovered and completely healed, as if they had never been there. Then he groaned and released an enormous red-black aura that reached the sky. The aura emitted by James was so great that it overflowed in all directions like a tsunami hitting the mainland.

So strong was James' aura that it shook the ground around him, spreading fear and horror to every creature. Even if the living thing had extremely dull instincts, it would still feel the overwhelming pressure of domination from James.

Gerald felt the hairs on his neck stand on end, his sweat pouring profusely, and his whole body trembling violently. Never in his life had he felt such fear that it swallowed him up.

Realizing the horror that was in front of him, Gerald, who had thought he had the upper hand, tried to escape as far as possible while James was still groaning loudly and emitting immeasurable power. However, his efforts were in vain, as soon as Gerald turned around to flee, James was already in front of him, delivering a kick right to his stomach.

Gerald, still shrouded in aura and severely injured, was sent flying tens of meters by that kick, shattering his internal organs, ribs and spine. Blood poured from his mouth and nose as his body lay in ruin.

Unsatisfied, James rampaged blindly, massacring the Fenrir members present. Their headquarters soon became a sea of blood, yet James showed no signs of stopping. It seemed he had lost himself in his rage.

Gerald, despite his injuries, had not yet fallen. At the sight of this, James tried to lunge at him once more. However, he was stopped by a white-masked man with a smiling face. The man wore a black robe with a picture of a snake biting its own tail on the back.

"I'm sorry, but you cannot kill this person," he said. "He has enough potential, even if he is a little stupid. So, please, go and leave him be."

James, who had lost himself, ignored the words of the person and lunged again. With such a great aura, James came like a hurricane, hitting everything in his path. But the person didn't flinch; with a single stamp of his foot on the ground, he raised golden aura chains to bind James and stop his steps.

Then he walked calmly closer to James; just a few steps away, white spears appeared before him, making him jump backwards to avoid the attack that had come from out of nowhere.

"I won't let you go any further, Leviathan worshiper," said an old man in a neat suit, appearing atop a container. He wasn't alone; with him was someone James knew very well: Scarlet.

"Our master must stop them and help James right away," Scarlet said to the old man she called Master.

"I know, but we must be patient, Scarlet. We're dealing with one of Leviathan's fangs, and this won't be easy at all," the Master replied.

The masked and black-robed person took a step back towards Gerald, who was heavily injured. Then, several people appeared in black robes with the symbol of a snake biting their tail, forming a formation to surround Scarlet and the old man who was with her.

One of them said to the masked man, "What should we do with them, sir?"

"Finish them with great suffering. I'm so sick of their continued interference with our plans," the masked man ordered.

"Yes, sir," replied the underling.

The fifteen or so black-robed people unceremoniously launched a massive aura attack. The barrage of attacks came towards Scarlet's direction like a bolt of lightning, so swift and accurate.

An explosion with a resounding sound broke the silence of the night. Fortunately, neither Scarlet nor the old man whom she called Master were injured, due to the shield-shaped aura protecting them.

"Are you okay, Scarlet?" asked the Master to confirm Scarlet's condition.

"I'm fine, Master," Scarlet replied.

"Alright, now is the time for you to put into practice what I taught you. This is also your final exam; prove your worth, Scarlet," ordered the Master.

"Yes, Master. I'll show you the results of my training so far," Scarlet replied.

Scarlet emitted a fiery red aura, and the aura began to shift and change shape into thorny branches.

“Dance of the Princess of Thorns,” Scarlet declared.

In an instant, thorn branches began to dance wildly, tying up dozens of the masked man's men. They groaned in pain, not only bound but also feeling the thorns of the aura branch piercing their bodies, piercing and cutting their flesh and skin.

Blood poured from the bodies of those hit by the cuts and pricks of Scarlet's thorn branches. The beautiful night shaded by the full moon instantly turned into a terrible night covered in blood, filled with melodies of soul-screams. However, these screams did not last long; in just a few minutes, the deafening screams of pain faded into the silence of the night.

"Pay for your sins with every drop of blood that is shed, and may God forgive the abominations you have committed so far," said Scarlet.

The silence of the night never lasted long for those who were constantly involved in life and death battles. In the silence that lasted for a split second, a loud laugh sounded, as if it insulted the human souls that had just had their lives taken away.

"Hahaha! Geez, they are useless bugs after all. Just facing an old man and a woman, and they couldn't bear it; even died because of it. This is a really bad joke," said the masked man.

"Your men died and you laughed out loud instead!" said the Master of Scarlet, clenching his fists very tightly. He continued, "You who have become the devil's accomplice, your sins are truly unforgivable. You who have fallen too deep no longer deserve to be called human," he said.

"Huh, what did you say, old man? Sin? If you want to preach, then just do it in church; they still need people like you. Just so you know, everyone is a sinner, and there is nothing innocent in this world. I just don't want to be a hypocrite; maybe I'm even much better than other people who cover up their sins to be considered a saint. Look at politicians, corrupt officials, or anyone who, with sweet words and good behavior, arbitrarily oppresses other human beings, taking their property rights and fooling society. So, where is my mistake? I really envy them for being able to commit any crime without being branded a criminal," said the masked man.
