"I'm here," said James as he stepped out of the shadows, carrying two Uzi rifles with fully-loaded ammunition in their casings.
"Time really can change a person. Look at the coward who attacks secretly - it seems the Allfather Odin has been proven right," said Gerald.
"If you know who I am, it means you've been living as a gangster for long enough. But it's time for you to leave this meaningless life behind," said James as he raised the Uzis and pulled the trigger.
The sky decorated with the full moon radiated a brilliant light, witnessing the barrage of bullet casings fired by James. His almost silent voice was muffled by a silencer mounted on the muzzle end of an Uzi gun. The series of rifle bullets disappeared in an instant, but Gerald still stood firm and unmoved without the slightest wound.
James was stunned to see that as if he were dreaming of seeing a human who couldn't be shot by a firearm.
"Now it's my turn," said Gerald in one jump, already in front of James. He delivered a full-powered punch aimed squarely at the solar plexus.
Right before the punch landed on James' body, he managed to block it by crossing his arms. Even so, the force of the punch sent James flying a few meters back until his back hit a metal container.
“BRAK!” The loud sound echoed throughout the area as the impact between James' body and the container reverberated. James tried his best to remain standing despite having to bend over from the pain, fresh blood pouring from his mouth due to the hard impact. He mustered up all his strength to support his body and noticed that his left arm had blackened from blocking Gerald's attack. It was clear that, although the bone hadn't broken, it had still been cracked by the force of the punch.
"Great...so great," James said in awe. "You're the first person alive and able to stand up after receiving my attack. It's not wrong that you used to occupy the top of the underworld and earned the title of the strongest fighter. But now is a very different era, James. The strength you are proud of no longer has any meaning. Now look at my true strength. With the power of this aura, you don't need firearms or any sneaky tricks, and everything will submit under you."
Gerald then concentrated his aura on his right hand and continued his words. "Now is the time for you to accept your death, Allfather! Your heyday is over!"
Gerald lunged again with incredible speed, directing his fist towards James' chest. But James, who had been on the lookout, could clearly read Gerald's movements, so he quickly reacted with an unexpected counterattack.
Gerald's extraordinary speed was both an advantage and a disadvantage. Due to his incredible speed, he couldn't possibly stop his body's movements instantly. So James used this to his advantage, tripping Gerald's feet and sending him flying several meters.
"Bastard!" said Gerald, grinning. He had never expected that an ordinary human would be able to match his movements that had been strengthened by aura.
On the other side, James was completely unable to keep up with all aspects of Gerald's physical abilities, which had gone far beyond human common sense. So James concluded that the only thing that could hurt such an opponent was himself.
He tightened his resolve and launched his attack. Now the man with long shoulder-length hair and a stocky body was attacking even crazier. What James saw at this time really broke his common sense. With his own eyes, he witnessed the blue aura emitted by Gerald slowly transforming into ten swords that flew around his back.
"Okay! Let's start this fun," said Gerald.
In an instant, the swords flying on Gerald's back shot out. James tried desperately to dodge them, but the swords were too fast. Unavoidably, the aura blades sliced and pierced his body, and his blood began to flow like melting ice in the summer.
Realizing he was in a dangerous position, James tried to escape from Gerald, searching for loopholes and opportunities to finish him off. But no matter what he tried, the extreme difference in strength was too great for him to overcome, even with his genius brain. His body was torn apart as he ran to and fro, taking cover among the goods containers.
"Looks like it's time for me to end this," said Gerald. "I thank you, O King, for losing me to the city. You have relieved my boredom."
Gerald changed the shape of his aura sword into a stake. It was simpler and smaller, but there were many more of them. He strafed in all directions, leaving James with nowhere to hide.
Even with his brilliant brain, James still couldn't find a way to beat or outsmart Gerald. For the first time in his life, he felt tremendous pressure because he couldn't find the slightest chance to win. James continued to be under pressure without being able to provide any counterattack.
The situation continued to drag on until it forced James out of his hiding place. Not wanting to miss the opportunity, Gerald immediately launched a final attack in the form of an aura in the form of a large sword. In a fraction of a second, the aura blade stabbed into James' chest, piercing backward until it made a hole in his body.
James lay sprawled in a pool of blood, collapsing in front of Gerald.
“Aarrghh!” groaned James, who apparently wasn't dead even though his chest had a gaping hole. His anger kept him alive, his thirst for revenge making him reject death. With all the will of his soul, James was still trying to get up to be able to avenge himself.
In a state of life and death, conscious and unconscious, James heard a voice whispering harshly, pushing into his ears. Awakening his thinning self-awareness, it made James realize again that he could not die until his revenge was avenged.
"I hear the screams of your anger, child, as beautiful as the whimpering of a sheep that has lost its mother. Therefore, I will lend you my strength," said the mysterious voice to James in a very heavy tone. James couldn't make out the shape of the figure; it was all black and dark. But from the echo of its voice, James could tell that the one speaking to him was not human but an entity of a size far beyond that of a human.
"Who are you, and where am I?" shouted James.
"One day, we shall meet," the figure replied. "But for now, if you want to live and avenge yourself, you must swallow the fire that lies before you."
Then, a black flame appeared and was accompanied by a change in the dark room to a completely white. Without any hesitation, James grabbed the flame and swallowed it all.

James saw something he had never seen before with his own eyes. Along with its appearance, he also heard a strange voice within his head.
[The system is taking temporary complete control. Berserker's emergency skill has been activated to assist a dying host.]
The air started to heat up as James slowly got up. His condition was strange; his eyes were white, and the wounds all over his body slowly recovered and completely healed, as if they had never been there. Then he groaned and released an enormous red-black aura that reached the sky. The aura emitted by James was so great that it overflowed in all directions like a tsunami hitting the mainland. So strong was James' aura that it shook the ground around him, spreading fear and horror to every creature. Even if the living thing had extremely dull instincts, it would still feel the overwhelming pressure of domination from James.Gerald felt the hairs on his neck stand on end, his sweat pouring profusely, and his whole body trembling violently. Never in his life had he felt such fear that it swallowed him up.Realizing the horror that was in front of him, Gerald, who had thought he had the upper hand, tried to escape as far as possible while James was still groaning loudly and emitting immea
The master, already infuriated, released his aura massively in the shape of a giant iron-armored knight carrying a shield and a sword. The old man's body became the centerpiece of the knight, standing firmly against his chest as if it were the control room of a giant robot. He immediately launched an attack on the masked man.The giant knight's sword blast swept through the area around it, almost even hitting James, who was still bound by the aura chain. But the attack seemed to mean nothing to the masked man. He restrained it using only one big green-black hand formed from his aura."It will definitely be very tiring if I have to fight against you, old man, so I think today is enough," said the masked man, directing his gaze to James, who was still raging and being bound by his aura chain. As if having an epiphany, the masked man continued his words, “Aha! I have an interesting idea. I'm bad enough to just leave you guys alone, so maybe the stray dog can cheer you up instead. Have fu
"How are you, James?" asked Scarlet."Scarlet? What are you doing here? Arrrgh..." replied James, cradling his head."Lay down, James, and relax. I know you have millions of questions, but we have enough time to answer them all," said Scarlet, introducing the old man beside her."Before you start asking, let me introduce my master. The person who has always guided me: Arthur Wiseman, teacher and owner of the holding company where we work," she said, smiling.Hearing this, James was, of course, surprised. He tried to tidy up the patient's clothes he was wearing, but instead, he looked uncomfortable. His behavior was exactly like that of a child who had been caught doing mischief by his parents. For Arthur, maybe James and Scarlet looked like children because he was almost fifty-eight years old. But even so, his physique still looked very fit and toned. Even though his hair was covered in white due to aging, it didn't take away from his charisma, with his hair slicked back. His bright b
Seeing the pendant, his chest tightened again. How could he not? He knew very well that the pendant was a hereditary pendant belonging to the Seremion family, which James had given to Elizabeth, his lover who had been killed a few days ago. "Yes, sir, I know very well about the pendant, because it belongs to my family. If I may ask, what's wrong with it?" James asked, filled with emotion. Arthur then took a chair to be able to sit beside James. "The blue stone that decorates the pendant is the Fragment of Sephiroth Tree Artifact, James. Now it's clear why you can occupy the top of the gangster throne, it's because of your ability to fight that's far above normal humans," he said with a deep sigh and paused for a moment. "You must be from the descendants of Harald Hardrada from the Viking nation. It is said that because of the many lives and blood he shed, his descendants are cursed to have the appearance of a vampire, and that appearance is very attached to you," said Arthur, conti
James had been standing in the middle of the field with a man named George, who was his opponent. The man before him looked the same age as James, with almost the same height, but with much more developed muscles.*DingA chart suddenly appeared before James, mentioning a mission.[Physical : 20 (weak)][Aura : 30 (weak)][war points : 2][Skills : need battle points to unlock new skills][mission : corner or beat george][prize : +3 battle points]James looked at the chart and squinted. He then tried as suggested by the previous system, using his willpower to transfer battle points into aura to unlock new skills.[Physical : 20 (weak)][Aura : 32 (weak)][battle points : 0]*You get a new skill[Skill : Rising Sun]Sure enough, James didn't need to speak to operate the chart in front of him. He also smiled faintly, seeing the strangeness that never stopped coming into his life."The match will be declared over if one of the opponents is no longer able to continue the fight or one of
Attack after attack kept coming towards James, while he was thinking and looking for gaps to attack George. Then it occurred to James to cover the entire battle area with dust on the ground to create a trick.James, without thinking, released his aura in all directions, making the whole field dusty and limiting George's view. Seizing the opportunity, James focused his aura into his right palm.He realized that normal attacks would not work on George, whose body was as hard as a rock. Hence, he decided to use his first skill; he automatically had the understanding to continuously gather his aura in his right hand. Gradually, the aura that had accumulated in James' right hand was transformed into a ball of fire, emitting a bright and hot light similar to the sun, but much smaller in size. The dust that was still soaring in the sky disappeared instantly, thrown away by the beam of power from James' sun-like energy ball."There you are, James. You should have stayed hidden among the flyin
"Forgive us, Chief," Arthur said regretfully."I'm really sad to see your actions," said the old man. "Don't you realize that you are already more than half a century old? You still act like a child." It was Kenrich Blindr, the chairman and founder of the Shadow Corps, his voice strong enough to bring anyone to their knees. He may not be widely known among the general public due to his lack of official, political, or business ties, but his age was certainly remarkable.Among aura users around the world, he is one of the strongest and his name is known even by aura users in the remotest corners of the country. His activities in the realm of aura users have been far-reaching and, due to his longevity, a nickname has been attached to him: the Eternal Magician. This nickname is of course due to his long age and extraordinary abilities. It was said that Kenrich, so old yet still able to face a hundred high-class aura users alone. His strength was not just a figment; it was said that if he
After the incident in the back yard of the Shadow Corps headquarters, Scarlet and Arthur immediately said goodbye to James, as they had to carry out a mission to get another fragment of the Sephiroth Tree Fragment. Now Scarlet no longer had two tasks, and had returned to her original task, namely, as one of the Shadow Corps troops and not an office worker. The seconds turned into minutes, and minutes into hours. It was late at night, and James couldn't sleep either. His mind wandered aimlessly, mulling over all of the events that had occurred in the past few days. The death of her lover and the baby she was carrying a few days ago was the hardest blow for her. He never could have imagined that the one he had loved so deeply, the one who could have completed his life, had gone ahead of him.I can still imagine Elizabeth's beautiful smile when the night brings loneliness. Imperceptibly in the silence, James sobbed once more. His sadness was completely erased, even with a series of event
