CHAPTER 269

“What?” Sara gasped in shock. “What do you mean he is here to kill? He introduced himself as my driver's brother, and when I called to confirm, he confirmed it himself.”

“Keep your voice down,” Luca said in a low voice. “Can you bend over a little and stay by the side of the cupboard? I will be back.”

Sara nodded and did as she was told. She crouched low, gently and slowly, so she wouldn't make any sounds that would grab attention. Then she let both knees bend to the ground. A cold chill ran down her spine at the thought of her driver being a killer. He drove her back home; if he was a killer, why didn't he kill her on the way? Or perhaps he was only looking for Luca?

She gulped slowly, praying silently that Luca wouldn't get hurt.

Meanwhile, Luca crept out of the kitchen in the dark, using his hands to find the direction to the hallway. He moved stealthily, his hands outstretched in front of him, feeling the walls for guidance to the other room. His ears strained to d

His eyes widened in surprise as he sensed the presence next to him. He held his breath, straining to confirm what he heard. Once he turned, Luca seized the opportunity and threw a powerful punch, sending the intruder crashing to the floor. With a swift motion, Luca moved forward, grabbing the intruder's gun and tossing it into the nearest room before lunging at him again. But the intruder quickly recovered. Of course, he was a well-trained assassin, good at his job. He sharply launched himself at Luca, punching with ferocity. Luca swallowed hard, absorbing the blows as his muscles tensed up. He countered with a swift kick that sent the intruder flying toward the kitchen door. Sara gasped in shock as she heard the sound followed by a groan of pain. Her hands began to tremble as she closed her mouth to avoid making

CHAPTER 271 The stranger punched Luca in the jaw, and his vision blurred as he stumbled back. Giving up here wasn't an option; Sara and his newborn were counting on him. He wiped the blood oozing from his lips, straining his eyes to see where the man was this time. Once he noticed a slow movement, a surge of adrenaline propelled him to launch himself at the stranger, and the two exchanged a flurry of punches. Suddenly, the lights came on, and Luca's eyes widened in surprise. "Shit!" the stranger muttered, looking up as the surroundings brightened so quickly. Luca narrowed his eyes and sighed when he realized it was Hawk, one of Stefano's best men, known for doing his dirty work. "So it was you. I should have known from your impeccable skills." Hawk laughed. "Thank you for the compliment, mate. Tragic that I still have to kill you before leaving through that door." "Well, I doubt you'd be leaving through that door alive," Luca smirked, holding onto his stomach as he groaned. Hawk

"That was quite easy for you," he teased with a chuckle, and she sighed. "He deserves it though." "Of course he does. A hundred percent," Luca admitted with a sigh as he leaned back, letting himself fall to the floor. He was exhausted from the fight. With that, Sara dropped the gun and rushed to Luca's side. She helped him sit up, concern etched across her face as she spoke. "Are you okay? You're hurt really badly. I think I should call the doctor," she said, her voice laced with worry. Luca grabbed her by the wrist, dragging her back. "No, you can't call the doctor until my men come in here and clean this up. I don't want anyone to see this, okay?" She nodded, swallowing hard. She never knew how things like this went. It wasn't her first time wielding a gun, but it was her first time gunnin

CHAPTER 273 The next day, Luca sat up in bed and winced at a little pain. After yesterday's ordeal, he still had some aches in his waist and backside, but at least the painkillers had helped him a lot. Right now, he had a lot to do with his men. He couldn't just sit back idly after Stefano had tried to take his life for the third time in a row. He wanted to take action, knowing he might as well be making life difficult for others out there. It was his destiny to eliminate any threats to the crown. It was nine o'clock that same morning when he forced himself out of bed. Sara was already up, making breakfast for him. He could hear sounds coming from the kitchen. He dragged his feet there and caught sight of her from afar. Slowly, he walked over, wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her neck. "You're up early. You could have asked for help to make something this morning. I don't want you stressing yourself this way," he said. Sara's lips pursed into a smile. "It's fine.

"They dare not search the whole place," Gio sighed. "These assholes. I will be down in a minute; you can go now." The girl hurried away. Gio let out a long sigh. If there was one thing about their mafia group, it was that they made sure to have no business with the cops. They not only stayed low-key but also tipped off the police and made deals with the higher-ups to avoid having them burst into their clubs or trace their illegal dealings. So hearing that the cops were looking for Giovanni was confusing and surprising for everyone sitting right there. "Why do you think the cops are here for you? Any missteps from your men? Did they report anything to you?" Luca asked, concerned. Giovanni shook his head, his expression puzzled. "I really don't know, but I'm about to find out. This doesn

They quickly parked and stepped down from the bike to meet George and Giovanni, who were already outside. “What’s up? Were you able to find out which police station he was taken to?” Larosa asked, concerned. Gio shook his head. “Not yet. We’ve called all the stations to check if he was brought in, but unfortunately, he hasn’t. I'm trying to get them to do a thorough search. He must have been taken to one of those stations; I guess they didn’t search well.” Fabio sighed. “Shit. This is confusing. What if we just track him? His phone or anything that can help us find his location?” “I don’t think his phone would be trackable. They might have just turned it off or something,” George answered. “But I think we should call his wife. She would know to inform the Shadow Ops and might give us hints to track him. His watches and rings are sometimes trackable. He also has trackers in

He hated that he was just figuring out that the asshole wasn't an actual cop but was sent to pick him up. “Where are you taking me right now?” he asked the man. “When we get there, you’ll surely know. Just a few more minutes, Lord Ercole. We will get there, and you will see who sent me to pick your sorry ass up.” “You know, you might have made Hawk disappear, but some things are inevitable. Your death is one of them.” “Oh wow. You seem pretty confident about my death, just like Hawk was last night. Look how he met his demise,” Luca said, a hint of pride in his voice. The man laughed. “You know one thing about Hawk is that he already resurrected.” “Well, I killed a dead man again, so there’s definitely no way he’s going to resurrect. Larosa quickly checked the driver’s pulse. “He is dead,” she exclaimed. “Get the keys from that asshole's pocket and unlock this,” he said to Larosa, and in no time they unlocked the cuffs. Luca let out a sigh. “That bastard wasn't any cop. She choose to believe that it wasn't over yet. Knowing Luca she knew it was just the calm before the storm. One night, Luca approached slowly with his hands tucked into his pockets, "Sara," he called gently. "I need to talk to you." She turned to him, "What is it, Luca? Is everything okay?" He took a breath. "I know what they did to you… how they humiliated you, took everything you worked for, and made you feel small in a company you helped build with your own hands."
