Chapter 10

Mati and Mrs. Ruth perceived the exclusive position of the Joe City Mall, the most exclusive mall in the city. Even though she was spending most of her life savings, she didn't care.

As long as her daughter Mati would be able to seduce the heir tonight she was going to do everything within her powers to make sure that it was possible.

And to seduce her, one of the first things that she had to do was to make sure that she was the best-dressed female on the dinner night.

That was going to give her an edge over All the other Ladies who would gather. It might be like they were the only ones with that idea.

This is the first time that the true heir and president of the Rock City Consortium would be coming out to the world. It was a catch them young kind of thing so they had to have an upper hand in this fight.

And this mall was exactly what they needed.

Meanwhile, Mati kept staring at the mall for a while and could not believe that she was ever going to come into the mall.

She had always heard stories about it.  Only persons of the highest functions in society could even visit this mall.

But her mother was ready to give up everything so that she would be able to come to this place.

She was certainly not going to disappoint them.

Finally, they got into the hall and as usual, were able to start going around to see what they were going to like when they were stopped by a guard.

Mr. Ruth eventually lifted her eyes with a deadly frown that made the guard fall backward with a gasp out of fright.

"What do you think that you are doing?  Stopping us from going into the hall?" She frowned.

Meanwhile, Mati was already acting like a celebrity, her feet barely touching the floor at the moment as she walked.

The guard, though he recognized his fault for stopping them so abruptly, could not take all the blame.

They were coming at such speed that was the only thing that he could do if not they were going to walk back into the main section of the mall.

He was finally able to straighten up himself after being startled, assuming a more professional look now as he went ahead to say calmly.

"Please forgive me  for my manners." He apologized with every hint of professionalism laced over his voice.

Marissa was smiling now and felt as though she was at the top of the world. She quickly replaced the smile on her face with an imposing frown, stepping forward towards the guard.

"Do you realize who we are and what we can do to you in a blink?"

"Do you know what would happen to you when outsiders find out about this?" She inquired, her imposing air increasing at every word that she spoke.

The guard who was once acting professional was now more startled. If there was anything, he knew what it meant to offend anyone who came to the mall.

Apart from the fact that his employers were going to be furious, he also knew that people who came to the mall were members of the high-class in the society.

He was only fortunate enough to work in the hall and interact with most of them. Even though some of them were unruly, he would not dare to offend any of them.

With a prostrating pose, he bowed and apologized. "Ma'am, I am sorry for offending you today."

"I am just following orders. I can't allow you to walk into this section freely until I see your card." He said, still bowing.

Mrs. Ruth and Mati shot glances at each other, extremely confused at the words that he just brewed from his mouth.

"Card?" They inquired.

The guard quickly rose with a furrowed brow. They didn't know that they needed a card before they could assess this section?

And he had been bowing before them all this while.

He was now angry with himself but he knew that he still had to keep a professional atmosphere. Besides, he still had his boss to please after all.

"Yes. This section is an exclusive one. And without the access card, you can't come into this section." He finally added.

Mrs. Mati frowned almost immediately.

"How do I get this card?" She Inquired, still having a stale look on her face as she asked but the guard was unbothered now.

"You can get it from the cashier." He replied.

He was about to add more to what he just said but they would not even give him breathing space to speak as they were already walking away to go get it.

"Hey?" He was about to go out too but he quickly pulled his hands backward.

There was no need for him to waste his breath on arrogant people like them. Not like it was his fault anyway.

He drew a really deep breath to calm himself down as he let them go.

Soon, Mati and Mr. Ruth arrived at the place where they were supposed to be. The cashier was a smallish lady but pretty with her professional suit and glasses right in their places.

With a lot of work left for her to do, she didn't bother to pass her greetings as she continued to work on her computers.

"How can I help you ma'ams?" He inquired since she could already see them from her screen.

And arrogant Mrs. Ruth was aggrieved by her manners.  "Don't you have elders at home?" She laced out but the lady ignored.

"You can go ahead to tell me what you want when you feel comfortable. But for now, you have to step out of the line so that I can attend to others." She replied.

"You?" Mrs. Ruth pulled back her hands with gritted teeth.

"When my daughter finally gets married to the heir, I am going to make sure that you pay for this." She muttered under her breath.

"We are here for the access card." She said after calming herself down with a lot of breaths.

"Cash or transfer or card?" The cashier inquired, getting them confused as to what she met.

"What do you mean cash or transfer?" Mati stepped forward with an inquiry.

"You came here to make trouble but don't even know that access to the platforms costs no less than five hundred to two million dollars?" She lifted her head for the first time with a frown on her face.
