Mati and Mrs. Ruth perceived the exclusive position of the Joe City Mall, the most exclusive mall in the city. Even though she was spending most of her life savings, she didn't care.
As long as her daughter Mati would be able to seduce the heir tonight she was going to do everything within her powers to make sure that it was possible.
And to seduce her, one of the first things that she had to do was to make sure that she was the best-dressed female on the dinner night.
That was going to give her an edge over All the other Ladies who would gather. It might be like they were the only ones with that idea.
This is the first time that the true heir and president of the Rock City Consortium would be coming out to the world. It was a catch them young kind of thing so they had to have an upper hand in this fight.
And this mall was exactly what they needed.
Meanwhile, Mati kept staring at the mall for a while and could not believe that she was ever going to come into the mall.
She had always heard stories about it. Only persons of the highest functions in society could even visit this mall.
But her mother was ready to give up everything so that she would be able to come to this place.
She was certainly not going to disappoint them.
Finally, they got into the hall and as usual, were able to start going around to see what they were going to like when they were stopped by a guard.
Mr. Ruth eventually lifted her eyes with a deadly frown that made the guard fall backward with a gasp out of fright.
"What do you think that you are doing? Stopping us from going into the hall?" She frowned.
Meanwhile, Mati was already acting like a celebrity, her feet barely touching the floor at the moment as she walked.
The guard, though he recognized his fault for stopping them so abruptly, could not take all the blame.
They were coming at such speed that was the only thing that he could do if not they were going to walk back into the main section of the mall.
He was finally able to straighten up himself after being startled, assuming a more professional look now as he went ahead to say calmly.
"Please forgive me for my manners." He apologized with every hint of professionalism laced over his voice.
Marissa was smiling now and felt as though she was at the top of the world. She quickly replaced the smile on her face with an imposing frown, stepping forward towards the guard.
"Do you realize who we are and what we can do to you in a blink?"
"Do you know what would happen to you when outsiders find out about this?" She inquired, her imposing air increasing at every word that she spoke.
The guard who was once acting professional was now more startled. If there was anything, he knew what it meant to offend anyone who came to the mall.
Apart from the fact that his employers were going to be furious, he also knew that people who came to the mall were members of the high-class in the society.
He was only fortunate enough to work in the hall and interact with most of them. Even though some of them were unruly, he would not dare to offend any of them.
With a prostrating pose, he bowed and apologized. "Ma'am, I am sorry for offending you today."
"I am just following orders. I can't allow you to walk into this section freely until I see your card." He said, still bowing.
Mrs. Ruth and Mati shot glances at each other, extremely confused at the words that he just brewed from his mouth.
"Card?" They inquired.
The guard quickly rose with a furrowed brow. They didn't know that they needed a card before they could assess this section?
And he had been bowing before them all this while.
He was now angry with himself but he knew that he still had to keep a professional atmosphere. Besides, he still had his boss to please after all.
"Yes. This section is an exclusive one. And without the access card, you can't come into this section." He finally added.
Mrs. Mati frowned almost immediately.
"How do I get this card?" She Inquired, still having a stale look on her face as she asked but the guard was unbothered now.
"You can get it from the cashier." He replied.
He was about to add more to what he just said but they would not even give him breathing space to speak as they were already walking away to go get it.
"Hey?" He was about to go out too but he quickly pulled his hands backward.
There was no need for him to waste his breath on arrogant people like them. Not like it was his fault anyway.
He drew a really deep breath to calm himself down as he let them go.
Soon, Mati and Mr. Ruth arrived at the place where they were supposed to be. The cashier was a smallish lady but pretty with her professional suit and glasses right in their places.
With a lot of work left for her to do, she didn't bother to pass her greetings as she continued to work on her computers.
"How can I help you ma'ams?" He inquired since she could already see them from her screen.
And arrogant Mrs. Ruth was aggrieved by her manners. "Don't you have elders at home?" She laced out but the lady ignored.
"You can go ahead to tell me what you want when you feel comfortable. But for now, you have to step out of the line so that I can attend to others." She replied.
"You?" Mrs. Ruth pulled back her hands with gritted teeth.
"When my daughter finally gets married to the heir, I am going to make sure that you pay for this." She muttered under her breath.
"We are here for the access card." She said after calming herself down with a lot of breaths.
"Cash or transfer or card?" The cashier inquired, getting them confused as to what she met.
"What do you mean cash or transfer?" Mati stepped forward with an inquiry.
"You came here to make trouble but don't even know that access to the platforms costs no less than five hundred to two million dollars?" She lifted her head for the first time with a frown on her face.
The words were able to make Mati fall back in her steps. It was a really large amount of money for her. When their families were still in fame, it would have been easy for them to take care of it in a bit. And if Leonard was still around, it would have also been easy to paster him for the money. As stupid as he was, he could have always run around to get it for them. But now, it was like luck was not on their side anymore. She drew a deep breath, she thought that they might have been able to afford a stunning dress but now, they would not be able to do that. She drew a deep breath, it would only be wise for them to go back at this point since it was not going to be of any use for them to linger there. She sighed once again before touching her mother. But instead, Mrs. Ruth was still gritting with anger that she could hardly feel this tap.Thoughts ran through thoughts. She wished that she could rip the cashier right into halves but with the amount of guards that were littered around
The shock that struck them welled up throughout their spines, well up to their bloodstreams. They just paid a whopping sum of a million dollars for the other platform. There was only one explanation to this, he had stolen his way there. But what would Leonard be doing there? From the last time that she checked, even though he was there, there was no way that he would be able to afford any of the clothes that were on display there. With a really deep breath, her eyes finally brightened as thoughts ran through her head. There was only one explanation for it now. He was planning to steal from the store.Remembering that his worthless mother was in the hospital now, gasping for breath, that could be the only explanation for it.There was a bold smile on Mrs. Ruth's face. Now that they had caught the real thief, she was going to use it as a means to cover up for their creams. The smile that was hovering on her face deepened even more as she was f
The frown on Leonard's face was deepened welling up through his vines down to his spine. But with a deep breath, he was able to control himself."I would love to see the forged explanation that you would want to give to frame an innocent person." He muttered his hands crossed over his chest. The laughter that came from Mrs. Ruth could be felt and her heart echoed through the columns of the hall. After a while, she was finally able to pull a stop and she said. "Are you feeling guilty already that when I tell them the truth, they are going to take you to the prison?" She flared. But Leonard was still standing there, waiting for what she was going to say. He didn't have the power to fight it out with him anymore.Seeing the look on Leonard's face, he ignored her and turned to the guard who was still waiting for him to explain."And we are waiting." The leader of the guard finally went ahead to say."We were coming in. Of course, we were given the silver card which we had purchased. We n
Mrs. Ruth was shaken to her roots. Streams of sweat were already displayed on her face. The rate of her racing heart echoed throughout the hall. She could already feel the spikes of pain going through her chest as she continued to stare at the distance right before her."Was it true? How come he was able to afford the card?" He threw the thoughts off of his head. There was no way that he could have been able to afford the card.Leonard had stayed with them for quite a while and only lived on odd jobs. The possibility wasn't there. aShe reassured herself as she threw herself closer to the guard with every air of confidence. "Are you guys going to believe this crazy act of his?" Her voice was so firm as she spoke. The eyes of everyone that were gathered there shifted towards her direction. Leonard however wasn't disturbed even for a single moment as his hands were still crossed over his shirt."Are you guys just going to fall for that without checking his card?""I have known the ani
Twenty four hours earlier "Good day young master Leonard. I am the caretaker of your father's consortium and I am going to be your guide for today." A man came forward to Leonard and bowed before him.He had decided to visit the company as he had been informed by Ben earlier on.From the way that sweat dripped down from the corner of his face, it was evident that he had been waiting there for quite a while. From what Leonard had already been pre informed, Mr. Matthew was going to take him through the list of his father's companies.Since it was scattered all over the city with various headquarters, they got into the car to begin their tour. The first point of call was Top Hills Technology enterprise."This enterprise was established by your father about a year before he handed it over to him and has seen a big bang in growth. While we initially began as a battery making facility for various tech companies, she has ever since grown in other areas.Top hills phones and top hills cars w
Right from the day that she was born, Mati had never been slapped before. The fine lines of Mr. Matthew's broad hands were evident on her face. She continues to stare, lost in her shocks. She thought that the manager was going to give in to her explanation. Or even give her some sort of reward. But a slap was what she received instead. But she wasn't the only one that was affected by the slap. The slap sent a thunder wave of shock down the nerves of the guards that were gathered there. And they sucked right to their knees.Hearts formed into the beating of drums knowing much trouble that they had gotten themselves into.Especially for someone like Henry. His face was all soaked in sweat at the moment and he opened his mouth to speak but words failed him and he was still quivering."Please forgive me sir.". Henry was finally able to find his words and he went on with an apology even before they knew anything about what was happening.Mr. Matthew frowned. Whatever that was happening the
Mrs. Ruth shrunk as she continued to look at it. Mati also drew over to it to take a look at him, making her shrink on the spot. The documents said that he was the legal owner of the company. It would be easy for her to pick out that name at any point in timeHer heart quivered. She drew a stare at Leonard and back at the documents that were before her."But how was it even possible?" Her words soon broke into stutters, confusion welling through her spine. For the longest, she had known this man for quite a while. He was pitiful and useless at the same time. While she was still lost in her thoughts, Mr. Matthew turned around towards the guard. They were still shivering. The racing of their hearts echoed right throughout the whole hall, knowing that they were quite in a lot of trouble."And do I need to start explaining myself?" He thundered angrily.A cold shiver quickly ran through their lips, opening their mouths to explain what had happened but words failed them.Just then, Henry
He had always known Mati to be despicable. He moved gradually towards her with a shitty look on her face."Then you would have to go through Mr. Ben." He announced, making her shrink right back in the spot. What was he doing even talking about a prominent figure like Mr. Ben. She frowned, pulling back her shocked expression even before he noticed."He gave me this place as a gift for saving his daughter. Do you really want to start a fight now?" He shot a stare at the both of them. The anger that had once burned in their eyes burned down almost instantly and was soon replaced with shocks.Mati felt so angry with herself for believing that someone like Leonard would be able to earn the hotel in the first place. Not after all the ordeal that they have gone through because of someone that wrecks with poverty. With this new revelation, Mrs Ruth quickly sprang up staring right into his eyes."I knew that you would never be able to amount to anything, leeching off on people. Soon, this is
