Chapter 2

Leonard's eyes bulged out from his sockets. His overwhelming anger in his neck region. He never expected that they were going to be so adamant.

But he tried to keep his calm, talking to them calmly. They were still his in-laws after all.

"Mom. This is my sister that I am talking about here. I'm sure Sir. Fredrick wouldn't mind coming to his party without a gift." He responded.

But Mrs. Ruth only frowned.

"Going over to Fredrick's party without a gift?  Have you suddenly run out of your senses?" She glared.

"Soon, the Fredricks are going to open the room for cooperation. Through this, we will be able to get on their good side. And you want me to allow this great opportunity that has been presented before me to slide? In your dreams." He responded.

He could no longer stand it anymore. All his attempts to make them see reasons with him were only falling on deaf ears.

"Are you going to be happy if my sister ends up dying? You barely know this person. Is the life of my sister worth the exchange? emotions were washed up in his voice as he spoke.

They never expected that they were going to see him so worked up. This was the first time that he was raising his voice at Mrs. Ruth.

"Are you raising your voice at me, you arrogant punk?" She thundered.

But Leonard didn't bulge.

"So what if I am raising my voice at you? When the only thing that you are being is unreasonable? For something that never belonged to you in the first place?" He retaliated for the first time since he stepped his foot into the Heathcliff family.

Mati could not stand and watch him speak to her parents in such a manner. She quickly sprang from her seat and flared at him.

"Has your brain finally molten up into rocks?  How dare you talk to my parents in such a manner?" She tried to give him a really good slap as a punishment but he held her hands high up in the air.

He could not stand it anymore. Watch them ridicule him while he had to watch with a sheepish smile.

This was his last stray.

Leonard threw her hands away as a slight gasp escaped from her mouth, still overtaken by the shocks of what just happened.

"When have you ever seen your mistakes or that of your parents? We have been married for three straight years and the only thing that you see me as is a trash can that you can throw away whatever you want and I am going to keep calm?

What crime did I ever commit falling in love with you?" His voice was laced with a mixture of pain and anger.

But Mati was the last person to be moved by what she would call this act of his.

"If you think that throwing a tantrum is going to get you back that money? Then you must be the biggest fool of the century." He replied.

"Besides, it was joint ownership for placing it in an account that is both owed by us." She replied with her hands crossed over her chest.

Leonard scoffed. It was obvious that he had gotten married to the most unreasonable lady of the century.

"Is that so?" He responded.

"Yes and do your best." She replied, staring right into his eyes seeming like she was the one with the domineering aura.

He could not stand it anymore. Leonard had tried to tolerate them all these while but again. He had his last stray already.

"You know what, I have gotten tired of this attitude of yours already. I want a divorce." He said.

Mati and the rest of the family flamed up with laughter. And didn't realize when a strand of tear escaped from their eyes.

"You want a divorce?" Mati replied when she was finally able to compose herself.

"How do you think that you are going to survive on the street without a roof over your head?

If you have forgotten so early let me remind you. We have been the protective shield over your head. Providing you with all your needs."

"Or slaving me you mean?" Leonard glared.

"How I survive should be none of your business, what you should focus on is getting what I just asked for." He replied and stormed off.

It seemed like a dream. Mati never thought that such a day would come when her mini slave would become fed up with her.

Mrs. Ruth quickly noticed the shock that washed over her daughter and drew over to her in the form of consolation and said.

"Don't worry. I am very sure that he is going to return. There is no way that he is going to survive it out there in the streets." She assured him.

Soon, Leonard was out in the cold. Even though it was dead late in the night, he didn't give a damn about it.

When he was in the Villa initially, he was so pissed off to notice his broken heart but now that he was alone on a cold night, all the emotions were washing over him at the same time.

Soon, the night skies broke their bounds, wetting him to his skin before he got to the hospital but when he got to his sister's ward, she was no longer there.

Confusion washed up over him. He came there to ask the doctor if they could increase the payment time so that he would be able to come up with some ideas.

Could it be that the doctor had already chased his sister away from the hospital? His heart was clouded with suspense.

And the clicking steps of the doctor when I saw him walking over him only seemed to increase it.

"Doctor Sam. I am sorry that I could not get the pay. I thought I had it back home but stuff happened." He swallowed a large lump before going ahead with his request.

"I wanted to ask if the payment duration could be extended for a few more days. I would be grateful if you could help me out with this doctor." He said.

But the doctor who had always been friendly with him had a weird look on his face and he was looking a little bit stale.

"Your sister has already been moved to the VIP ward for proper treatment. We are going to begin with the surgery soon enough." Leonard was confused.

Could it be that the doctor was retrying to play an expensive prank on him?

"But how is that possible? Just a few moments ago, you said you would not begin payment without a deposit.

Then how come this is happening? And I can't afford the VIP section doctor Sam." He continued.

"Everything has already been paid." Leonard froze.

"So you don't have to worry about payment anymore." He doesn't.

Leonard was still finding it difficult to recover from his shock. Could there still be such good people that were around?

Finally, a step drew into the room and the doctor fluttered. "There he is." He was able to make out the sound.

Leonard turned around. His eyes met with a man in his mid-forties. Finely dressed and clothed the grace.

He walked up to Leonard and bowed slightly.

"Young master, nice to see you again."
