Suspicious Man

As they contemplated their next move, a sense of frustration began to settle in. The lack of leads and the absence of Jason’s supposed sister left them feeling lost and unsure of their next steps. They were on the verge of giving up when Jason’s voice cut through the despondency.

“Wait, I just remembered something,” Jason said, his eyes widening with a glimmer of hope.

His words instantly grabbed everyone’s attention. Ashley leaned forward, her expression eager. “What is it, Jason? What do you remember?”

Jason’s face contorted with concentration as he tried to grasp the elusive memory. “There was someone else at the mansion that day, someone who seemed out of place. I distinctly remember a man at the gate, just arriving as I did. He tried to stop me, claiming I was a poor beggar and didn’t belong there.”

Ashley’s eyes widened in surprise. “Why would he say such a thing? Did he know something about the mansion?”
