Regret

Amelia's grip tightened on Ethan's arm as she pulled him back from the edge of the rooftop, her voice low and urgent. "We can't engage them, Ethan. Not against people from the city."

His eyes blazed with anger, the wind swirling around him in a tempestuous reflection of his emotions. "Why not?" he demanded, his voice barely more than a growl. "We can't just stand here and let them hurt that girl!"

Amelia's gaze flicked between the scene below and Ethan's furious face, her own expression a mixture of concern and steely resolve. "Because they could have powers of their own," she explained, her voice tense. "And even if we did manage to take them down, a group of cityfolk suddenly going missing would bring the full wrath of the city down on the slums. We can't risk that."
