Chapter 5: Love rival?

Scott hailed a taxi to go to the Campbell house.

However, it seemed luck wasn't entirely on his side.

The taxi stopped just in line with a black BMW.

Scott and the person inside the BMW got out at the same time.

When the man opposite him saw Scott, he seemed somewhat surprised.

Then, he glanced at the taxi slowly driving away. The corner of his mouth couldn't help but curl up in a mocking smile, his eyes filled with disdain.

He held a bouquet of roses in his hand, slowly walking towards Scott, smiling and saying, "Well, well, look who we have here. Isn't this the groom who was kicked out of his wife's house a year ago? Surprising to see you still daring to come back, Scott. Aren't you ashamed?"

The man opened his mouth and immediately started mocking Scott, who was not unfamiliar with such behavior.

This man was none other than Brando, the one who pursued Aboli.

Even in the past, when he and Aboli were married, Brando never stopped his pursuit.

In the year since he was kicked out of the house, Brando had undoubtedly continued relentlessly chasing Aboli.

Scott, however, paid little attention to the relationship between the two.

Seeing Scott's nonchalant attitude, Brando couldn't help but frown, feeling furious inside.

He continued to taunt, "Did you come back just to bother Aboli again? Well, I hope you leave as far away as possible. Because Aboli and I are about to become a couple, your presence will only make us uncomfortable."

Scott paid no attention to Brando and proceeded to ring the doorbell.

Brando stood there, feeling like a performing monkey on display, and no one bothered to look him in the eye.

Brando was so angry that his hands trembled.

What did Scott have?

What could make him face everything so calmly?

It seemed as if nothing in the world could affect his emotions.

At this moment, the gate opened, and Mrs. Campbell stood in front of it, wearing a bored expression.

Behind her was Aboli.

Seeing Brando, Mrs. Campbell seemed slightly surprised but quickly put on a smiling face.

She hurriedly went down, bypassing Scott, and went in front of Brando, smiling, "Brando, you're here to visit Aboli again? It's just that you didn't inform me in advance so that I could prepare more properly."

Brando thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Campbell's hospitality.

His eyes glanced at the beautiful Aboli behind Mrs. Campbell and then shifted to give Scott a sidelong look.

Finally, he laughed and said, "Nothing to worry about, Aunt Campbell. Oh yes, I brought gifts for everyone; they are in the trunk of the car."

Mrs. Campbell's eyes immediately turned to Brando's brand-new BMW, and her lips curled up in a smile that almost closed her eyes.

She said delightedly, "Brando, you're truly perfect. Aboli being favored by you is its own blessing. At least you're not like someone who doesn't even have a car and doesn't know how to bring gifts when visiting others."

The subsequent words were clearly mocking Scott.

Brando reveled in it and added, "Aunt Campbell, don't be too strict. Perhaps Scott is facing his own difficulties."

Hearing this, Mrs. Campbell snorted, mocking Scott with a few more words.

Their sarcastic remarks couldn't affect Scott.

At this moment, he was looking at the mansion in front of him.

This was Aboli's private villa, not a family mansion.

In fact, he had bought this villa for Aboli as a wedding gift, using up his meager assets when he fled the capital.

However, Mr. Brian had been genuinely kind to him, so he didn't regret spending the money.

After a year, it seemed that the villa hadn't changed much.

At that moment, Brando suddenly spoke up, "It's already noon. If everyone doesn't mind, I can invite you all to have lunch."

As he finished speaking, he looked at Scott and said with a smile, "Scott, are you coming too? It's a good time to test how smoothly my new car runs."

Mrs. Campbell, upon hearing this, burst into laughter.

Her disdainful gaze swept over Scott, saying, "That's right. Someone like him probably can't afford a car like yours even if he struggles for a lifetime."

Pausing momentarily, Mrs. Campbell turned to Brando and continued praising, "Indeed, not everyone can be perfect like you, Brando."

Brando felt joyful inside, but because Aboli was still present, he tried to restrain himself and appeared calm.

Holding the bouquet of roses, he walked towards Aboli and then presented the flowers to her, smiling and saying, "You are more beautiful than these flowers, Aboli. I wonder if I have the honor of inviting you to watch a movie after lunch?"

Aboli slightly furrowed her brows, her enigmatic gaze fixed on the bouquet in front of her.

She wanted to refuse, but her eyes glanced at Scott, who remained calmly standing on the side.

She pursed her lips and finally said, "Sure."

With that, she accepted the bouquet from Brando.

Brando immediately felt pleased, reveling in his triumph.

He looked disdainfully at Scott, his demeanor arrogant as if he were the victorious one.

Mrs. Campbell, Aboli, and Brando were on one side, chatting cheerfully, intentionally trying to show Scott, but Scott didn't pay any attention at all.

It was as if he was fed up with their boring conversation.

Scott raised his leg and walked into the house.

Before leaving, he spoke in a low voice, "I don't care where you all want to go, but let's settle our matter first."

Aboli seemed surprised by Scott's directness.

She pursed her lips, unable to say anything more, just bowed her head.

Mrs. Campbell snorted coldly, turned to look at Brando, and said, laughing, "You don't mind waiting a little longer, do you?"

Brando shook his head, indicating that it was okay, then went to open the car trunk and took out gifts, showing that he was willing to go inside and wait with them.

Mrs. Campbell laughed with delight at this, looking very happy.

Scott didn't even bother to turn his head to glance at them and just continued walking forward.

When he entered the house, as he had planned, Aboli's elder brother James, the current owner of the Campbell house, was already sitting on the sofa in the hall for a long time.

Seeing Scott arrive, he didn't even stand up to greet him but casually said, "Sit."

His attitude seemed as if Scott was the one asking them for a favor rather than the other way around.

Scott ignored him and just sat down opposite him.

Aboli and Mrs. Campbell had also arrived by then and sat down beside James.

Brando stood on the side, pretending not to be involved in their family matters, but in reality, his ears were standing up to eavesdrop.

Now, James spoke again, "Scott, you probably still remember that you and Aboli haven't signed the divorce papers yet, right? According to legal documents, you are still a son-in-law of the Campbell family. The Campbell conglomerate is facing difficulties, and you should show some cooperation, right?"

His intentions were clear – he wanted Scott to connect him with Walter.

Somehow, he was confident that the Campbell family would gain Walter's favor.
