CHAPTER 21: On a date

Rose knew that her actions would hurt Jack, but she didn't care, as she presumed that he deserved it all.

"So, who was that man?" Sam asked as they moved along the lonely road.

"The serving boy in my family," she muttered, not too loudly, but Sam was able to catch up with the word she had said.

"I find it funny that you come and visit someone as broke and miserable as a wretched serving boy." Rose had a scowl on her face upon hearing Sam refer to Jack, someone she couldn't deny her feelings for, as 'wretched.'

"He is not wretched," she replied.

"Easy there, tiger; I understand, and I was just teasing you." There was a comfortable silence afterwards.

"Where are you taking me?" Rose asked, suddenly realizing she had passed her street.

"Well, you, my dear, are coming with me on a date," he simply indicated.

"A date?"

"Yes, my dear, a date."
