Chapter Forty-three

Later on, during the dinner and small talk, Ella would flash Dante a suggestive stare and then get back to eating.

She knew that he was watching her, and she wanted to tease him. She wanted to make him see her and to make him want her more.

Dante was sitting across the table, pretending to listen to his father James Wills' stories. He was bored and annoyed by the old man's attempts to woo Ella.

He knew that Ella was sending signals to him, and he found out he hated seeing Alexander with her. He hated seeing him touch her arm, or lean in close to her ear.

He hated seeing him smile at her, or laugh at her jokes.

He wanted to be the one doing all those things. He wanted to be the one sitting next to her, holding her hand, whispering in her ear.

He wanted to be the one making next to her,

As they ate, they heard noises from outside like a convoy of cars pulling up.

The Wills' security men from both inside and outside the building rushed to the scene, while James, Alexander, and Ella
