The sharp sting of Ariel's slap reverberates through Luther's senses, a sudden eruption of pain and disbelief. His cheek throbs, the sting mirroring the shock that ripples through him. Luther's mind races with a cascade of thoughts. Why did she slap him? What could she have found out that made her react in such a way? Austin comes to mind. He is the only reason that she could have to slap him.

"How could you do this to me?" Ariel's voice rises.

Luther blinks in confusion, "What are you talking about, Ariel?

"Don't play dumb with me." Ariel's voice trembles with a mix of hurt and pain, "Luther, I saw you! Don't lie to me. Who is she?"

Luther's expression shifts from shock to denial as he tries to make sense of Ariel's accusation.

"Ariel, you have got it all wrong. I have no idea what you're talking about."

Frustration grows in Ariel as she fists her palms, "You have been making suspicious calls. What have they been about?"

Luther thins his lips. He cannot let Ariel know he has been try
