1. A Shocking Divorce

"Liona, we can't just divorce!"

In front of the seemingly indifferent woman, Leo knelt weakly with both hands held behind his back. An hour ago, Leo was forced to come to this abandoned land by Liona's family.

Today Leo had gotten a letter informing him of his dismissal from his three jobs. Leo intended to hide it, but the bastard man beside Liona his wife leaked it to Liona's family.

"I don't care what you say, Leo. I've had it with you because you're so useless!" Liona snapped at Leo.

Leo looked at Liona with a look of pain in his eyes. But there was an implied anger behind the pain.

Leo's gaze moved to the bastard man beside Liona. That man, the one who had an affair with Liona, grinned with satisfaction.

"Are you satisfied, bastard?" asked Leo in an emphasized tone.

Liona immediately replied, "Why are you blaming him?"

"Are you defending him? I'm not useless, Liona!" Leo argued.

Leo was about to stand up to lunge at the man beside Liona. But instead, Leo's body was pulled back with a kick landing on his stomach.

"What do you want to do?" Walter, Liona's father, asked after kicking Leo in the stomach.

Leo groaned in pain after Walter's kick landed on his stomach.

"You should realize that you're not a useful man! You've been making so little money, now you've been fired," Walter said, again insulted.

Leo was no longer surprised to be spoken to like that. But still, his body and heart ached.

"I've worked hard to become what you want me to be..." Leo said emphatically, flinching for a moment.

All these years Leo had been treated like trash.

All those years Leo had endured Liona's family tormenting him in this abandoned field.

Even though Leo didn't do anything wrong, he was still punished with torture. Liona's family, whose wife is a CEO, doesn't care if he's in pain.

"I even gave all my efforts and sacrifices, but it was never enough in your eyes!"

Walter laughed sarcastically at what Leo said. With a dismissive look on his face, Walter walked over to Leo.

"Why are you whining like that? You're looking more and more like someone who sucks," Walter said.

"Honey, we shouldn't have allowed him to become Liona's husband. We've wasted a lot of money on him and his family, but he's still not successful!" said Joanna, Walter's wife and Liona's mother.

Walter took a quick glance at Joanna, then looked back at Leo sarcastically.

"That's right. He's a disgrace to our family's reputation for success. Liona is now the CEO, but she's still a loser," Walter said.

Leo clenched his hands, which were gripped by Walter's two bodyguards. For some reason this time, he felt even more trampled by Walter's words.

It seemed like Leo had endured enough of the Liona family's condescending treatment.

"I'm a loser? What loser gives away almost all his hard-earned money just to provide for you?" Leo asked.

Walter's smirking smile gradually faded at the sight of a sarcastically smiling Leo. Walter showed offense after Leo said that.

"You think you're meeting our needs with just that small amount of money, huh?" Walter alluded.  

Leo didn't have time to answer. But at that moment two of Walter's bodyguards suddenly pushed his body to the ground.

Without any guilt, Walter stepped on Leo's two palms that treaded the ground to support the body.

Suddenly Leo groaned in pain. He could not withdraw his hands. Unfortunately Walter didn't care about his moans of pain.

"You are the most useless person in our family. Why do you think you've given everything?" Walter asked.

"Arghh... Mr. Walter, let go..."

Walter just tightened his grip on Leo's palm. The curve of a satisfied smile rose on his face.

"I apologize! I didn't mean to say that!" Leo whined pleadingly again.

Walter shook his head, not caring about Leo.

"Have you forgotten who supported your family all these years, you bastard? Even your mother's treatment until she died was provided by us. You're a useless family!"

The downcast Leo gritted his teeth. Every time Walter mentioned his mother who had died two months ago, his heart sank.

"We gave your father a job, but he was imprisoned for abuse of power.

"Then your mother spent our money for a year just to die! Now you're the one who got fired from your job. How will you repay all our money?"

The more he heard Walter belittle him, the more Leo fumed.

"Why are you bringing up mom's medical expenses?" Leo asked.

Walter frowned after Leo had opened his voice and was about to confront him.

"You even broke your promise and delayed my mother's medical expenses for four months. I let my salary be split between my mother's treatment and Liona's..."

Leo's tone began to grow passionate as his emotions rose.

"While I was struggling to work, you guys were having fun with another conglomerate. You always insult me even after I give you what you want!"

"Asshole!" Walter kicked Leo in the face with great emotion.

"Papa... stop this useless argument," Liona replied with a pitiless look on her face. "I've had enough of his face. Starting tonight, we'll just throw him out of our family."

Leo closed his eyes with a small groan of pain. It felt like his jawbone had been crushed by Walter's kick.

"I can't let you be in our family anymore. You loser!" Walter snapped at Leo.

After Walter took a few steps back, Liona stepped closer to Leo. Liona threw a divorce paper on the ground and it fell right in front of Leo.

"Sign the divorce papers now. I don't want to live with you any longer," Liona said then.

Leo felt offended that Liona didn't care about his battered face. With blood stains on his face, Leo stared at Liona's divorce papers.

"You're such a traitor, Liona. You'll regret throwing me away like this." Leo muttered in a somewhat depressed voice.  

Liona snorted sarcastically. "Whatever you say, I don't care."

Without further ado, Liona squatted down and grabbed Leo's hand in disgust. Liona passed the ballpoint pen into Leo's hand.

"We should get a divorce now. You're just a parasite in our family!"
