Everything happened so fast. Both lay on the bed, breathing heavily. Ethan looked beside him to see that Cassandra was fast asleep. He gently got up with a white bedspread around him and walked into the bathroom to have his bath. He looked at her once and again before he drifted into a long sleep.

[THE NEXT DAY]

The loud noise of Cassandra woke him up. “What did you do to me?” She asked with anger. Ethan yawned; he felt so tired, but the lash he received on his back sent an electric jolt to his brain. He opened his eyes in a hurry. “What is it, Cassandra?” Ethan looked at her.

“Are you seriously asking me that?” Cassandra said, fuming in anger. She opened the bedspread again and saw she was naked. “Did we?” She looked at him anxiously.

“Are you asking if we had sex?” Ethan asked, not sure of what to tell her.

“You know what I mean, Ethan, and don't you play dumb with me!”

“You got home yesterday and you were drunk. You asked for this,“ Ethan said immediately trying to defend himself. “I asked for what?” Cassandra opened her eyes with disbelief. “Why would I have sex with a worthless person like you? Do you think if I wanted sex so badly, I wouldn't have it elsewhere?” She looked at her Ethan with anger bubbling in her face.

“I can see you have all of this planned out. If you think putting a baby inside of me will make you be my husband officially, then you are wrong. You are nothing. Don't forget I brought you out of the mud, and I can put you where you belong.” Cassandra walked out of the bed nakedly. She took a quick bath and got dressed.

In a flash, she was out of the house. At that moment, Ethan knew everything he had built so far was finally coming to an end. With Casandara’s attitude and temper, she could do and undo. Ethan got up and washed up. He was soon inside the car. He couldn't believe it.

Cassandra would pin everything that happened yesterday on him; he got to work and noticed all eyes were on him.

Ethan walked towards his office and noticed it was locked. “What the hell is going on?” he muttered to himself. He was about to walk towards Cassandra’s office when he saw the security coming towards him. “Mr. Ethan, you have been asked to be escorted out of the organization.”

“Escorted? Why?” He looked at their faces, but he wasn't given the chance to talk. “Can I see my wife?” He said anxiously. “We are sorry, but Mrs. Paige is not ready to see you. We are under firm instruction to have you sent out of the company right now!”

At first, Ethan thought it was all a joke, a prank. “I just need to see Cassandra. This is all a misunderstanding.” He said jokingly, but then they came at him and bundled him off his feet like he was just a sack of nylon. “Let me go!” Ethan shouted at the top of his voice. “We had a deal, Cassandra!” He shouted as he was being dragged out of the office.

Ethan was thrown right outside the gate of the office with the skies rumbling. He looked towards the sky, and he knew it was going to rain soon, but he was not ready to leave. Many of his colleagues and co-workers walked past him with a disdainful look on their faces.

“I told him he would not last ten days.” One of the workers said loud enough for Ethan to hear him. “This is not the first one, is it?" Another said.

Ethan bit into his lips; it was evident that he was just another means to an end for Cassandra, but why?

It was obvious that she needed something from him. Did she get it already?

Ethan was lost in thought; suddenly he looked up and saw Cassandra’s car driving out of the compound. He rushed towards her. “Wait, Cassandra!” He shouted as she pulled down the glasses.

“Was this about last night? I am sorry, but you kissed me first.” Ethan pleaded

“I have what I wanted, so why don't we dissolve what we agreed on? I don't think I need to pay you the agreed f*e, but since you have managed to spend at least seven days with me, here is something for you.” Cassandra dipped her hands into her fancy bag and brought out some money. “This is for your troubles.”

She dropped the money in the ground and drove away. Everything seems like a dream to Ethan. “You can't be serious.” He said gently, looking at the car driving out of sight. Ethan looked at the floor and back at the car driving out of sight. He was back to square one.

He felt like shedding tears, but then a part of him knew it was not going to last anyway. With no home and just a bundle of dollar notes on the floor, Ethan was back to where he started from. There was no place he could go.

The rain started to pour hard as he ran towards the main street to flag down a taxi.

“Where to?” The taxi driver asked, staring at his face. Ethan gave him the address to his former house. On getting back home, he noticed the door was locked. He banged the door, and a man with a towel around his waist walked out. “Who are you?” Ethan asked, dripping with water.

The man looked at Ethan from head to toe. “And who the hell are you?” He asked, staring into the night and back at Ethan's face. “I own this place.” Ethan replied. “Not anymore.” The man said with a smirk on his face and slammed the door right back at him.

Ethan stood still in shock. He wanted to shout like an enraged man, but he knew he was going to be arrested for trespassing.

With nowhere to go, Ethan was back on the street with the torrent drenching him from head to toe.

Meanwhile, back at Paige's family, they were all glad. “It's a good thing you got rid of him.” Tiffany said with a wide grin. “Why now?” Cassandra’s father asked, staring at her in the face. “I got what I wanted. I see no reason why I should keep him around.” Cassandra said with a smirk etched on her face. “And what is that?” Frank Paige asked. Cassandra was about to talk when her phone rang. “Is that Williams?” Tiffany asked. Cassandra nodded, getting out of her sofa chair. She walked briskly into the other room, where her parents could hear her giggle with laughter. “Mom, what do you think about planning the biggest wedding in town?” Cassandra asked, staring at her mother. “Did he pop the question? Did he ask you out?” Tiffany looked at her. “Yes, Williams would like to marry me, but of course I need to divorce Ethan.” “Why didn't you think of getting him a divorce letter before you decided to end things with him?” Frank looked at her. “Because the marriage was a scam. I need him to regret ever double-crossing me,” Miranda said with a wide grin. “ Like I said earlier, what is in it for me?” Ethan asked again. “ What do you want? I know you have been badly hurt. Is it revenge you seek? I told you mine.” Miranda looked at Ethan's face. “ Well, I was wallowing in debt.” Ethan said gently and paused. “ I could start with that, pay off everything. Not after what happened to me the last time.” “ I am not, Cassandra and I will never do anything to hurt you.” She said slowly. Miranda's ears rang at the impact, but she maintained her cool, with her eyes shining in anger as she comforted herself not to go out of character yet. “You slapped me.” She uttered in disbelief. Cassandra nodded, looking grave. “And I will slap you again for being the worst person I could ever imagine. You had that piece of trash in your hands all along, yet you rallied around me, pretending to forget about it and never mentioning a word. How do you think that makes me feel, huh? Do you think that I am happy with the things that I am hearing? Of course not!” Cassandra thundered. Miranda put her hands down and kept on staring at Ethan who sauntered towards the front of the hall with a small smirk on his face. He loved the fact that he shocked them to the bone and they had no words.Cassandra recovered from the shock first before speaking. “Ethan, you have the guts to show up on my wedding day intending to disrupt the process? Miranda and Ethan laughed to the heart's content immediately after they entered the car. Who would have imagined that Cassandra was going to react that way? "I have never seen her this angry in my life. Not even when she wanted me gone out of her life." Ethan commented as a driver turned on the ignition. Miranda couldn't help her laughter from bubbling out of her lips. "I'm sure that you wouldn't be able to believe her eyes but that's part of the package. I have always wanted to see her suffer." Ethan didn't know how to feel about that. He and Miranda had not finally come to a conclusion about what they were about to do to these guys. "Why do you hate your friend so much?" He inquired just to understand the road map of this revenge scheme. Miranda shrugged carelessly but he didn't believe that. "Let's just say that Williams and I have a score to settle and I need to emerge as a winner." She replied earnestly. Nothing disturbed Ethan because he also had a singular goal but

She suddenly realized that fighting against Cassandra was going to be easier than she thought. Cassandra strolled into the magnificent house that she had once frequented but didn't know that she was dwelling with someone who had the potential to destroy her. How she hadn't realized this was still beyond her, and she wanted to trash this issue now, once and for all."What a surprise, I thought that you would have left the country to fuel your shenanigans," Cassandra said with a weird smile on her face. Miranda smiled at the challenging look on her friend's face. "You should take a chill pill. It's not a new thing. You rejected him,

Cassandra locked eyes with Ethan and scowled as he descended the stairs. "Oh, my goodness. Here comes the bride." She mocked."I would have said the same for you but we all know the reason you got married to him. You want a slice of his properties." Ethan didn't waste time returning the energy making her go red in the face. Miranda snickered in the background before averting her eyes pretending not to listen to them. "Oh? Is that what you think my marriage was?" Cassandra fired at him. "Exactly what I think it is. You came here to undermine me. Why should I spare you my thoughts? If you had any tangible reason you would have made it known. I think it's becoming borderline worrisome that you engage yourself in conversations about me when you can simply pretend that I do not exist in any form or shape and we wouldn't have problems." Ethan fired back. Cassandra's eyes remained wide as she tried to figure out what gave Ethan sudden boldness besides Miranda's money. "It's amazing how a

Proceeding out of your hidden zone wasn't the best way to go but Williams had practically no choice at this point. She had been hoping for a break and now that he had the opportunity to learn his hands on it he wasn't there to let it slip off his fingers. “I am heading south. You should catch up with me. I am in a black SUV.” Ethan explained. “Alright, then. I'll be there.”Ethan contacted Jada immediately who had begged him to make him know when her opponent was coming out. “He is already heading my way but I don't want you to do anything yet. He doesn't trust me and we have to ensure that he does, if he keeps on suspecting me what good is that? It is only going to complicate issues and that is the last thing I want.” He reminded her. Jada tapped her feet in anticipation of further destroying Williams reputation. She just needed to get footage that she could spread lies about and also involve Cassandra who was trying to leave now that she realized that she probably might be in a

  • Kick Offs

Williams looked right and left before he could cross the road just to see if anyone was coming behind him or trying to find out where he was about to move to. Ethan watched him from the car where he sat, wondering how this man intended to break out of prison without going through the normal way of pleading. His phone started to ring and he laughed in wordly. This was the best way to deal with people who felt like they had an idea of how life should work instead he was going to make him realize that things didn't go smoothly all the time. “I can see you already in the restaurant, why don't you walk to the car? You don't want to be caught in an open place, do you?” Williams hung up immediately and looked around trying to figure out where Ethan was watching from. Ethan loved the show of shame because now Williams was going to fear him even without saying a word. Williams, mustering courage, called back just to be sure that he was talking to the right person. “I would love to meet

“THE HEADLINES: A MAN WAS SEEN TRYING TO BREAK OUT OF PRISON AND WAS CONVICTED. RUMORS SAY THAT IT WAS THE FORMER BUSINESS MOGUL, BUT WE ARE YET TO GET ANY INFORMATION.” Ethan watched the news the next day, with a slight shake of his head. There was absolutely no way it wasn't true because Jada had informed him before then.Miranda came in just in time to see the news flashing on the screen and was a little bit confused. “Don't tell me that it is Williams over there.” She said, taking a seat beside him. “I don't see any reason why he should try to break out when he knows that everyone is already fixated on him and what his next move should be. I don't know why he doesn't want to keep his head low. Does he still want to contact us?” She got on speaking. Ethan wasn't in the mood to indulge her or talk right now because he was trying to figure out William's next move. “According to the news like you have seen, it has not been confirmed so we shouldn't be found talking about something

  • Locked Away

Williams thought about his previous life and how things suddenly went downhill for him. All of this started when she decided to employ Jada. She was the one who ruined his life to the point where it currently was. There was absolutely no way that he was going to be able to be free from this mess if he didn't stand his ground and make sure that she no longer had power over him. He stroked his beards gently, thinking of how things began. She was the only picture that was coming into his mind and at that point there was absolutely nothing he could do to erase it. It was more of an introspective way of thinking as to why things got destroyed beyond repair and how he had lost in the grand scheme of things. "You shouldn't bother yourself about thinking about the past. It's all the matter of time before things begin to work normally. The moment you are able to take out the fact that you need revenge you will be able to be free." Somebody called through the other side of the prison

  • A failed Plan. (I)

As much as he wanted to prove to himself that he was more than any one who was trying to help him he also knew that there were a lot of things that needed to be assigned. One of them included acting like he didn't have any choice or hope to be free. All the jobs assigned to him the previous day were done with so much enthusiasm that even the fellow inmates were a little suspicious of his new attitude. It wasn't as easy as he posed it to be but at the same time he also faked an apology to demand he had been engaged in an altercation with. His excuse was that he had a bad day and that was why he went off for a man who had done nothing to hurt him. Williams waited patiently counting his breath as the warden moved around to take roll calls as usual. It ended up in a state of nothingness followed by a large breakdown as the warden stopped in front of his cell, looking at him keenly. "Williams, come out!" He commanded.

  • Enemy's pardon

Williams stood in front of the ledge his eyes roaming about as he contemplated suicide. There was absolutely nothing for him to live for and the proposition that his enemy had brought up was nothing to write home about. He would rather grovel at the feet of someone he didn't know than to allow Ethan to win him. It wasn't something he had envisaged but, sending him to wash the latrines was not the way to go or leave his life. "Mate, you still think of yourself as high and mighty don't you? Why don't you do something else that helps you out instead of hoping or thinking that you will be able to break out? It's not as easy as it is portrayed in movies!" Someone clapped him at the back and held his hands. He looks at the man who stared at him lewdly. He was up to no good and he wasn't about to become a victim in a place where he should be victorious. "I think that all of you are just perverts looking for ways to fuel your perverseness. I

Ethan moved in such a way that a lot of people were kind of confused by his movement. He refused to grant interviews like they had expected and only hoped that he was going to come up one of these days and show off but he refused instead he focused on what was more important which was silling deals right left and center and making sure that people trusted him more than the rest of the people. It was going to become a herculean task for him to deal with and the only reason that he was going to be away was simply because he didn't want anything to be tied to him. He would prefer just going away and hoping that no one was able to understand whatever he was going through. The only reason he decided to deal with situations properly was to make sure that he didn't have any casualties whatsoever. If he was able to stop people from handling situations in such a manner that was going to land him in trouble he would take it over wasting time.

  • Bailing The Enemy(I)

Ethan looked in front of him staring at the man who had given himself for so many atrocities and now was in a position where he could no longer help himself and the only thing he could do right now was to pretend like everything was fine. Immediately Williams spotted the person who had come to visit him and his countenance changed into something sinister. Nowhere in his mind would he have ever fought that Ethan was going to come visit him after everything that had happened. “You don't tell me you are here to build me because that will be the most hilarious thing I have listened to ever since I came here. Why the hell are you here?” He demanded, taking his seat as his eyes flickered with anger. Ethan was unmoved by his responses instead he decided to focus on something more important to himself than all of this nonsense. “You should be glad that I took my time to come see you and know what you have been up to for so long. I don't thin

  • No More Powerful

Williams looked at the interior of the cell wondering how his life had declined to this state where he could no longer feed properly and was left to rot inside a place where he had absolutely no idea what was going on. It was almost as though he was wasting his time here when it could be outside taking revenge. The amount of pain that he felt was enough to send him almost across borders, but he didn't say a word; instead, he just kept on looking. The only reason that he had not committed suicide was because he didn't want Ethan and Miranda to win. They were the ones behind all of this he knew this. He just needed somebody who could trust him enough to bring him out of this mess and then he would show them the stuff that he was made of without having to break a sweat. The problem of having to wait for so long before somebody decided to take pity on him was something that he did not want to take for granted, but at the same time, he wa
