Ethan looked at Cassandra, and his face went pale. “Slow down, Father.” She said, staring at Ethan. She could see that he was scared. “Can we have a moment to ourselves?” Cassandra looked at her father and then at her mother. “Sure. But don’t forget we have an appointment. Don’t keep us waiting.” Tiffany looked at her daughter before they walked away.
Ethan couldn’t hold it anymore. He was like a time bomb waiting to blow up. “What was that?” He looked at Cassandra. “This wasn’t part of the contract, was it?” “Can you keep your voice down?” Cassandra looked at his face. It was evident that she was scared. “Keep my voice down? Did you even listen to yourself? What happened to my bills? Don’t tell me you cut me off simply because I voiced my opinion last night.” Cassandra looked at her feet like some spoiled brat. “Oh my god!. I can’t believe you would do this to me.” Ethan said he was getting fed up already. “It is bad that you and your family humiliate me whenever you feel like it, but now this?” “Can you stop yelling like a child and listen to me?” Cassandra snapped at him. “I need my family to believe that this marriage is what I want. Besides, we had an agreement. Don’t tell me you are fed up already.” Cassandra folded her arms. “I will see to it that everything is met according to the contract.” She looked back at him. “In the meantime, get your ass ready for golfing.” She said and walked away. Ethan could not help but wonder what he had gotten himself into. He still doesn’t know who Williams Hargrove was. He walked back into the room to get ready. It was going to be a long day. Ethan arrived at the golf course with the Paige family. The sun was shining, blazing hot in the sky. Ethan could already feel the sweat forming on his forehead. He trailed behind Mr. and Mrs. Paige, carrying their golf bags like some underpaid caddy. Cassandra walked beside her parents, her laughter tinkling in the warm air, as if the argument from earlier hadn’t occurred. Ethan felt like a slave more than an actual man of the house. They reached the pristine course, where a tall man with sharp features stood waiting. His tailored suit screamed wealth, and his smile was the kind that came with a lifetime of getting everything he wanted. “William Hargrove,” Cassandra’s voice rang out, laced with excitement. Ethan froze. So this was the man they were talking about. William’s eyes lit up as he saw Cassandra. “Cassandra! It’s been too long,” he said, pulling her into an embrace. Ethan noticed the slight flush on Cassandra’s face and the way she leaned into the hug just a second too long. Ethan clenched his fists but stayed silent. He reminded himself of the contract—it was all an act, just one more day to tick off on his calendar. Yet, he couldn’t shake off the unease growing in his chest. “Who’s this?” William’s gaze finally shifted to Ethan, his tone dripping with mockery. “This is my husband, Ethan,” Cassandra said, her voice cold and distant. The words felt like a slap in the face, not because of their content but because of the way she said them—like an afterthought. William’s smirk widened. “Ah, the lucky man,” he said, extending a hand to Ethan. Ethan hesitated but shook it, feeling the condescension in the firm grip. “William is an old friend of the family,” Mr. Paige spoke out of turn, his voice showing he was proud of the man before them. One minute he was praising him to be the man worthy enough for his daughter, and the next, he was talking about William being an old friend of the family. “He’s recently returned from his ventures overseas.” “Friend?” Ethan thought bitterly. The way Cassandra was smiling at William suggested something far more intimate. As they golfed, Ethan stayed in the background, fetching balls and handing over clubs. His mind raced, replaying every moment since he’d stepped into Cassandra’s world. He knew he was a pawn, but the pieces on this board were beginning to shift in ways he couldn’t predict. At one point, Cassandra and William stepped away, leaving Ethan with Mr. Paige. The older man turned to him with a sneer. “You don’t belong here, Ethan,” he said quietly. “This marriage was a mistake, and soon, it’ll be corrected.” Ethan’s blood ran cold. He looked at Mr. Paige, trying to gauge how serious he was, but the man’s face gave nothing away. Ethan wanted to talk, to reply to him that he was actually doing his daughter a favor, but then Cassandra had never really told him why he was doing all of this. By the time they left the golf course, Ethan was emotionally drained. Back at the mansion, Cassandra walked ahead with William, leaving Ethan walking behind like an unwanted guest. That night, as he lay in bed, the tension in his chest became unbearable. He pulled out the contract from the drawer beside him and read it over for the hundredth time. Something felt off, but he couldn’t put his finger on it. There must be something he missed. Something he should have seen, but he didn’t. The door creaked open, and Cassandra walked in a little tipsy. “How much did you have to drink?” He stood up, gently holding her by the waist. Before Ethan could say anything, Cassandra hauled over him. “Really? This wasn’t part of the contract.” Ethan said in frustration as he took her over to the bathroom. “Can you stand?” He asked each time as he stared at her. Cassandra looked at Ethan and drew him closer. “What are you doing?” Ethan asked “Didn’t you read the contract? I have all the right to do whatever I want with you.” Cassandra said, looking at him. She drew him closer and in a frenzy mode she kissed him, leaving Ethan dazed.

The beeping sound of the machine was the first thing Ethan heard as his eyes fluttered open. The blinding white light of the hospital room made him squint, and a dull pain throbbed through his body. He tried to move, but his limbs felt like lead.A nurse leaned over him, her expression a mix of relief and caution. "You're awake," she said softly. "You’ve been unconscious for two days.""Two... days?" Ethan croaked, his throat dry as sandpaper. He winced as he attempted to sit up, only to feel a sharp pain shoot through his ribs. "What happened?""You were hit by a car," the nurse explained, adjusting the IV line in his arm. "The driver brought you here. You’re lucky to be alive."Ethan's memory was hazy. He vaguely recalled the rain, the blinding headlights, and the sensation of his body hitting the pavement. "Who brought me in?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. The nurse hesitated. Meanwhile, back at Paige's family, they were all glad. “It's a good thing you got rid of him.” Tiffany said with a wide grin. “Why now?” Cassandra’s father asked, staring at her in the face. “I got what I wanted. I see no reason why I should keep him around.” Cassandra said with a smirk etched on her face. “And what is that?” Frank Paige asked. Cassandra was about to talk when her phone rang. “Is that Williams?” Tiffany asked. Cassandra nodded, getting out of her sofa chair. She walked briskly into the other room, where her parents could hear her giggle with laughter. “Mom, what do you think about planning the biggest wedding in town?” Cassandra asked, staring at her mother. “Did he pop the question? Did he ask you out?” Tiffany looked at her. “Yes, Williams would like to marry me, but of course I need to divorce Ethan.” “Why didn't you think of getting him a divorce letter before you decided to end things with him?” Frank looked at her. “Because the marriage was a scam. Miranda's ears rang at the impact, but she maintained her cool, with her eyes shining in anger as she comforted herself not to go out of character yet. “You slapped me.” She uttered in disbelief. Cassandra nodded, looking grave. “And I will slap you again for being the worst person I could ever imagine. You had that piece of trash in your hands all along, yet you rallied around me, pretending to forget about it and never mentioning a word. How do you think that makes me feel, huh? Miranda couldn't help her laughter from bubbling out of her lips. "I'm sure that you wouldn't be able to believe her eyes but that's part of the package. I have always wanted to see her suffer." Ethan didn't know how to feel about that. He and Miranda had not finally come to a conclusion about what they were about to do to these guys. "Why do you hate your friend so much?" He inquired just to understand the road map of this revenge scheme. Miranda shrugged carelessly but he didn't believe that. I am in a black SUV.” Ethan explained. “Alright, then. I'll be there.”Ethan contacted Jada immediately who had begged him to make him know when her opponent was coming out. “He is already heading my way but I don't want you to do anything yet. He doesn't trust me and we have to ensure that he does, if he keeps on suspecting me what good is that? It is only going to complicate issues and that is the last thing I want.” He reminded her. Williams looked right and left before he could cross the road just to see if anyone was coming behind him or trying to find out where he was about to move to. Ethan watched him from the car where he sat, wondering how this man intended to break out of prison without going through the normal way of pleading. His phone started to ring and he laughed in wordly. This was the best way to deal with people who felt like they had an idea of how life should work instead he was going to make him realize that things didn't go smoothly all the time. “I can see you already in the restaurant, why don't you walk to the car? You don't want to be caught in an open place, do you?” Williams hung up immediately and looked around trying to figure out where Ethan was watching from. There was absolutely no way it wasn't true because Jada had informed him before then.Miranda came in just in time to see the news flashing on the screen and was a little bit confused. “Don't tell me that it is Williams over there.” She said, taking a seat beside him. “I don't see any reason why he should try to break out when he knows that everyone is already fixated on him and what his next move should be. I don't know why he doesn't want to keep his head low. Does he still want to contact us?” She got on speaking. Ethan wasn't in the mood to indulge her or talk right now because he was trying to figure out William's next move. “According to the news like you have seen, it has not been confirmed so we shouldn't be found talking about something
Locked Away
Williams thought about his previous life and how things suddenly went downhill for him. All of this started when she decided to employ Jada. She was the one who ruined his life to the point where it currently was. There was absolutely no way that he was going to be able to be free from this mess if he didn't stand his ground and make sure that she no longer had power over him. He stroked his beards gently, thinking of how things began. She was the only picture that was coming into his mind and at that point there was absolutely nothing he could do to erase it. It was more of an introspective way of thinking as to why things got destroyed beyond repair and how he had lost in the grand scheme of things. "You shouldn't bother yourself about thinking about the past. It's all the matter of time before things begin to work normally. The moment you are able to take out the fact that you need revenge you will be able to be free." Somebody called through the other side of the prison
A failed Plan. (I)
As much as he wanted to prove to himself that he was more than any one who was trying to help him he also knew that there were a lot of things that needed to be assigned. One of them included acting like he didn't have any choice or hope to be free. All the jobs assigned to him the previous day were done with so much enthusiasm that even the fellow inmates were a little suspicious of his new attitude. It wasn't as easy as he posed it to be but at the same time he also faked an apology to demand he had been engaged in an altercation with. His excuse was that he had a bad day and that was why he went off for a man who had done nothing to hurt him. Williams waited patiently counting his breath as the warden moved around to take roll calls as usual. It ended up in a state of nothingness followed by a large breakdown as the warden stopped in front of his cell, looking at him keenly. "Williams, come out!" He commanded.
Enemy's pardon
Williams stood in front of the ledge his eyes roaming about as he contemplated suicide. There was absolutely nothing for him to live for and the proposition that his enemy had brought up was nothing to write home about. He would rather grovel at the feet of someone he didn't know than to allow Ethan to win him. It wasn't something he had envisaged but, sending him to wash the latrines was not the way to go or leave his life. "Mate, you still think of yourself as high and mighty don't you? Why don't you do something else that helps you out instead of hoping or thinking that you will be able to break out? It's not as easy as it is portrayed in movies!" Someone clapped him at the back and held his hands. He looks at the man who stared at him lewdly. He was up to no good and he wasn't about to become a victim in a place where he should be victorious. "I think that all of you are just perverts looking for ways to fuel your perverseness. I

It was going to become a herculean task for him to deal with and the only reason that he was going to be away was simply because he didn't want anything to be tied to him. He would prefer just going away and hoping that no one was able to understand whatever he was going through. The only reason he decided to deal with situations properly was to make sure that he didn't have any casualties whatsoever. If he was able to stop people from handling situations in such a manner that was going to land him in trouble he would take it over wasting time.
Bailing The Enemy(I)
Ethan looked in front of him staring at the man who had given himself for so many atrocities and now was in a position where he could no longer help himself and the only thing he could do right now was to pretend like everything was fine. Immediately Williams spotted the person who had come to visit him and his countenance changed into something sinister. Nowhere in his mind would he have ever fought that Ethan was going to come visit him after everything that had happened. “You don't tell me you are here to build me because that will be the most hilarious thing I have listened to ever since I came here. Why the hell are you here?” He demanded, taking his seat as his eyes flickered with anger. Ethan was unmoved by his responses instead he decided to focus on something more important to himself than all of this nonsense. “You should be glad that I took my time to come see you and know what you have been up to for so long. No More Powerful
Williams looked at the interior of the cell wondering how his life had declined to this state where he could no longer feed properly and was left to rot inside a place where he had absolutely no idea what was going on. It was almost as though he was wasting his time here when it could be outside taking revenge. The amount of pain that he felt was enough to send him almost across borders, but he didn't say a word; instead, he just kept on looking. The only reason that he had not committed suicide was because he didn't want Ethan and Miranda to win. They were the ones behind all of this he knew this. He just needed somebody who could trust him enough to bring him out of this mess and then he would show them the stuff that he was made of without having to break a sweat.
