Chapter fifty nine

Nighttime arrived and I found myself standing in front of my husband's room door with a knife in my gloved hands. I knocked first, just to know if he was still awake.

No response came after the first and second knock and that concluded me that he was asleep. I slowly opened the door and stepped into the almost pitch-black room.

I slid open the curtains and moonlight shone into the room. My husband was sleeping peacefully on his bed. Little did he know that it was his last sleep.

I drew his blanket down from his face and knew immediately that I was being played. "What?!" I exclaimed in surprise and a whisper.

Under the blanket was only a bunch of pillows arranged to deceive me. My senses kicked in and I moved aside, immediately grabbing hold of the mysterious person who was about to attack from behind.

I pinned the person to the bed and kicked away the bat which had fallen from his hand. I grabbed his hair and lifted his face upwards to see. The kind of shock that ran through my b
