Chapter fifty seven

Barely before I could even start my car, I received a phone call. I checked to see who it was and I saw Thomas' name there. The same Thomas that was supposed to marry my daughter in five days now.

I wonder why he was calling me all of a sudden. I picked up and placed the phone on my ear, "well, good day madam." Thomas greeted me.

"Good day Thomas. What appears to be the problem?" I asked him, just waiting for him to state his business.

"You see... I called to make it known to you that I will not be marrying your daughter anymore." Thomas said, into the phone.

"I see... And why, if I may ask, is that?" I replied.

"I don't have interest in her anymore. That's why. I have met someone better... I mean someone else. No one is better than your daughter of course. I just don't deserve her." Thomas said in a frightened tone and stammering.
