Chapter 9.

Alex chuckled at Lisa's quip, trying to release some of the tension within him. He was still somewhat hesitant but didn't want to worsen the situation by refusing Lisa's offer.

"No, thank you, Lis. But I feel better going back to my own apartment and resting. I appreciate your offer," Alex said with a friendly smile.

Lisa nodded understandingly, though she seemed a bit disappointed. "Alright, as you wish. But if there's anything, don't hesitate to let me know."

"Sure, Lis. I'll be fine," Alex replied with a false sense of confidence.

Alex turned around and walked away from Lisa's apartment. He felt relieved to have avoided the somewhat awkward situation. However, at the same time, his curiosity and confusion about the given quest grew stronger.

Back in his own apartment, Alex sat on a chair, gazing out the window. He pondered and tried to solve the puzzle of the quest at hand. But the more he thought about it, the more complicated the answer seemed.

"Why does this quest have to involve kissing Lisa? Why aren't there any other options?"

Alex felt frustrated with the quest. He knew that completing it was the key to obtaining the confidence card, but kissing Lisa was something impossible and not easily done.

"What if I hadn't refused earlier? Could I have kissed Lisa?"

PLAK! PLAK!

"Snap out of it, Alex! There's no way Lisa would want to kiss you!"

Alex tried to slap himself, feeling embarrassed for even thinking that he could kiss Lisa, knowing it was such an impossible thing.

As Alex was lost in thought while holding his slightly sore lips, suddenly a holographic voice filled the air.

[Ding! The mission must be completed before morning.]

Alex's eyes widened upon hearing that statement. How could he possibly accomplish the mission? It was a daunting task for someone like Alex, who had never been close to a woman before.

"How am I supposed to do this?"

Of course, there was no one to answer Alex's question, not even the holographic message that had disappeared from the air.

"This is ridiculous! I can't do it."

BRAK!

Alex hit the table hard, frustration reaching its peak. He felt overwhelmed by the difficult and seemingly impossible quest. However, as he looked outside the window, something caught his attention.

"If I didn't need a quest for confidence, maybe I wouldn't have to overthink all of this."

Feeling a bit stressed, Alex decided to leave his apartment and seek some fresh air. Perhaps doing so would calm his mind and allow him to vent the pent-up feelings inside him.

In the quietness of the late night, Alex strolled through the serene city streets. The city lights reflected a shimmering glow in Alex's eyes as he continued searching for answers to the perplexing quest.

"This is insane," he murmured to himself. "Why do I have to do something so absurd just to get a confidence card? And why does it have to involve kissing Lisa? There are so many other things I could do to prove my confidence."

However, as he walked further, a seed of bravery started to grow within him. Perhaps this quest truly tested his limits and urged him to step out of his comfort zone. He had always avoided challenging situations since childhood, but maybe now was the time to transform into a bolder person.

"Now or never," he thought. "I can't run away from my destiny forever."

Alex pondered those words for a moment, then approached the edge of the sidewalk, gazing at the ripples in the drain that formed from last night's rain. The water flowed incessantly, reminding him that life is a journey that keeps moving forward. He had to take steps, no matter how difficult or frightening.

As the sky began to transition from dark to deep blue, Alex looked towards the Apartment just a few steps away from where he stood. His heart raced, trying to conquer the awkwardness and shyness that resided within him. Nevertheless, a small vibration in his heart told him that he could do it, that he could achieve this goal successfully.

"I have to give it a try," Alex said firmly to himself.

Alex took steady steps towards the apartment. His heart pounded as if each step towards Lisa's door was like climbing a steep mountain. But he tried to calm himself, reminding himself that Lisa wouldn't be angry if he accidentally kissed her.

Arriving in front of Lisa's apartment door, Alex took a deep breath and tried to stop his pounding heartbeat. He glanced at his wristwatch; it was still 9:00 PM, which meant it wasn't too late for Alex to visit a woman's apartment, even though it was the first time he had ever done something like this.

Summoning courage, Alex began knocking on the apartment door. His heart raced as he felt Lisa approaching the door.

As expected, a beautiful woman opened the door with a puzzled look towards Alex.

"Alex, what brings you back?" Lisa asked, looking a bit surprised to see him there.

Lisa stared at Alex, who didn't respond to her question. She looked him up and down. They had never been this close before, but why did Alex suddenly come to her apartment? Did he want to complain because Lisa bought fried rice with Alex's money? While Lisa didn't reimburse Alex for the fried rice.

"Is this about the fried rice? Are you here because of that?"

Alex felt taken aback. He hadn't expected Lisa to think that way. Throughout all this time, Lisa also knew that what Alex did was common, where he always bought drinks or food for the employees at the office, even though it wasn't Alex's desire, but someone's request who mistreated and didn't treat Alex well.

"N-no, I mean, not about that. I don't mind it at all," Alex stammered.

Lisa nodded, her gaze still fixed on Alex with a sharp look.

"It's good that you don't mind. So, why are you back here again? It's already 9:00 PM, and you're disturbing me by being here."

It seemed like Lisa didn't appreciate Alex's visit, evident from her words and the sharp look in her eyes.

"Lisa, can I have your kiss?"
