Christian stood still, his eyes unblinking as Harry jeered at him, his wry smile mocking, goading Christian into action but Christian wasn't that easily baited, he remained unmoved, his back straight, his stance firm.
"You have no idea how many men have fallen by my hands, boy." He smirked mockingly, circling Christian like a culture would the carcass of its prey. Many in the crowd cheered and taunted Christian because they believed and had a first hand experience of Harry's skills in the ring, he'd won many cage fights underground and he was famous for his ruthlessness and lack of mercy for his opponent. He always fought to the last drop of blood - of his rival.
"Don't you think for a second that you will walk free, no, you've met your end, Mr stranger." Harry said with a mocking laugh as he strolled to the open field where the crowd was pulling together, same taking out their cell phones for pictures. "I've killed seven men, all with my bare hands." He said, his voice a low and threatening sound as he continued to circle Christian menacingly, dragging loose his tie and rolling up his sleeves.
Christian stood still, his hands right by his side, he hadn't moved a muscle since Harry began putting up a show for the crowd who were more than eager to see the fight go down, many knew for sure that Christian would be badly hurt - if at all alive - at the end of the fight. They were merely betting on how long before he was down like a duck by Harry's hands.
But Christian did not shake, his gaze was fixed ahead and he did not seem to be threatened or scared of all Harry was saying.
Harry noticed that Christian was unaffected by his goading and threats and so he resorted to taking down on him.
"Alice could never be with a man like you, she isn't made for peasants!" Harry sneered as he glared at him, his eyes mad, the disapproval and scorn visible in his frown. "What makes you think she'd ever replace me with you? You can't possibly believe Alice will be yours, you must be living in dreamland, bro, wake up!" He snapped.
"That's not for you to decide," Christian spoke finally, making Harry growl out and bare his teeth, his face red with anger and frustration.
"Do you know who her father is? You could never be seen with her, talk more of being with her as her man, you are not worthy of Alice," he sneered and then nodded, as if he had a bright idea. "I think I'll be doing you a favor tonight, end it myself before the ruthless Carter Wills finds out you're with his daughter, you'd be better off dead, trust me." He smiled wickedly and turned to face Christian, his stance set, ready, fist clenched and ready to fight.
Alice shook in her shoes, the crowd before her almost overwhelming her. She could hear many people begin to bet on the fact that Christian would be lucky if he lasted a minute with the notorious Harry while others said thirty seconds was too much to ask of him.
"This is madness, I can't let this happen," Alice said worriedly as she paced at the edge of the crowd, hoping Christian had listened to her and turned down the fight before it had all begun.
"There's nothing you can do, Alice, you warned him." Emily said as Alice tried to shove into the crowd but she was held back. "You're going to hurt yourself out there, everyone wants to see this and it's too late." She pointed out.
Alice shook her head in regret, she'd brought Christian to the party and she felt guilty of the hurt he was about to go through in the hands of Harry. What if he was badly hurt, or worse?
"I'm going to call my dad." She said, "He will call the guards and one order will end all this nonsense." She decided and pulled out her phone.
Emily quickly stopped her again, "Really? Your father? And what will you tell him about Christian? Who will you say he is? That he came to an exclusive party and tried to fight a Banter? Trust me that's a recipe for a much bigger disaster." She reminded her quickly and it was nothing but the truth.
"What do you think, Emily? I can't just let Harry hurt him like this, I can't. He'll hurt him badly, maybe even do much worse, you know how Harry can get with his fights, he doesn't know when to stop." Alice worried, her eyes teary, her tone panicked.
"And what exactly do you think your father will do? Applaud him for showing up here and causing a show?" Emily advised calmly, she too knew of Carter and she could tell that Christian was in a better position to take his chances with Harry than to face the feared Carter - especially when it had something to do with his daughter.
Carter wills not only ruthless but he lacked patience for any mix up especially when they weren't a member of his gang or even an affiliate. He is known for being very reasonable.
Alice knew how her father would likely react to Christian, a stranger causing trouble at his party. It would be a much worse fate than she could think of.
"You can't do that, trust me, you will put him in much bigger trouble." Emily said and kept her in place.
Alice stood still, still uncertain what to do, it was too late to go into the arena and stop them, she was sure she would only get herself hurt and Harry would still go ahead and fight with Christian anyways. He was a stubborn man, they both were.
The crowd was already cheering Harry on, telling him fancy ways to take Christian out.
"Make him pay for showing up here!" One of the goons said loudly from the crowd and others supported with similar taunts, mocking at him and others staring at him sympathetically.
"I'm not just the beast for nothing, Mr Stranger, I'll make sure you are sorry you came here tonight." Harry sneered and with that charged towards Christian. The crowd erupted in a fierce scream, many thinking Christian would not survive such an aggressive attack.
Harry was right at him, his fist raised, his height and size hurled and ready to pounce on Christian.
Alice yelped and shielded her eyes with her hands, not wanting to see when Christian would fall. She wished she hadn't called him nor asked him for the stupid favor of being her boyfriend even for a minute. She wished Christian had listened and walked away, he definitely didn't stand any chance with Harry.
But in few seconds, the crowd was silent again, the screams had all died down and a strange hush fell in the arena. Many stared and marvel and gasped at the unexpected scene.
Alice opened her eyes and was shocked at the scene before her. Christian was standing, unruffled, calmly gazing right at her and by his feet laid Harry, knocked out cold and in a coma.
The crowd stood in absolute awe, many astonished faces gazing at Christian and down at Harry who was sprawled on the field, clearly unconscious. The disbelief was murmured around as many could not tell how he did it but evidently he'd taken Harry out with one strike and he was not only down but he remained there until his goons went to check if he was okay. Christian looked across the field and caught Alice's eyes. She was staring at him with an odd expression, a mixture of surprise and fright. But as he smiled, she burst out laughing, her eyes wide with pleasant surprise. She'd found the perfect man who could stand his own even in the presence of men like Harry, she knew she had found herself a treasure. In all her years of acquaintance with the Hunter family, she'd never seen a single man who could take out Harry, not with his MMA record or his brutality in the ring. She was blissfully surprised that Christian was able to take Harry out with no stain on his immaculate white
Fury coursed through his veins, Christian could feel the blood pumping at the sheer disregard and insulting manner which the receptionist treated him, shoving his card on the floor and calling him names. "If I were you, I'd pick up that card, instantly." He growled, his voice low and menacing, his jaw twitching and his fist clenched. "And why would I do that? That's a fake card and you are here looking for a top-floor room, who do you think you are? Huh? You can't fool me!" She sneered and turned her attention back to the fancy woman who was there to book a suite for the next weekend. "Why don't you leave, young man, I don't think this place permits..." "Shut up." Christian snapped, his tone was icy, his stance even more scary. He was about to make the receptionist pick up his card, his card was much more than a piece of black chip, it was his identity, it represented him and he considered her foolish for daring him. Just as things were about to get out of hand, a m
Christian walked towards the penthouse with a calm look on his face, all the events that had happened today replay in his head and somehow he felt dizzy to the extent he almost collapsed on the floor but he held the wall and supported himself with it.He open the door and walked inside the dimly-lit from then he made the source of the floor-to-ceiling French window and open the curtains staring at the bustling City of the United States of America."Today has been hectic, divorce, parties and fights. I know that Alice's friend won't take this night easily but then what does that have to do with me? All I have in mind right now is how to manage the company and at the same time watch my ex-wife's company," He muttered, then opened the door and walked out feeling the fresh breeze brush against his cheeks.Just as he was admiring the city before him he felt a buzz in his pocket and he took out his phone only to see that it was his assistant that was calling. Without hesitation he picked t
"How dare you talk to me like that?!" The woman's high-pitched voice sounded in the reception as she glared at the frail figure on the floor."I am so sorry ma. I never saw you coming," The woman on the floor apologized but the rich lady wasn't buying it.She swept her gaze through the crowd and then back at the frightened receptionist."Where is the manager of this hotel? Where is he?!" She yelled angrily, not minding the crowd that was already gathering."I am right here ma'am," The polite man from yesterday said as he made his way through the crowd and settled before the woman."My name is Liam, the manager of this hotel. Please, what is the problem?" He asked gently as he had already analyzed the whole situation but he still wanted to hear what happened from the woman's mouth. And if he saw that she was making a ruckus over something insignificant he would have no other choice than to send her out of this place."So you are the manager of this hotel? I expected someone more matur
"That's what the company is willing to offer Mr Mills," The chubby manager of Tips & Jinx Ltd said with his eyes slightly narrowed. Christian stared at him with a calm look on his face then turned towards the lean man before him, who had never uttered a word since he arrived here. The atmosphere was a little awkward and it looked like the chubby man didn't know how to distinguish when to keep quiet and when to talk because he had been ratting out words with meaningless meanings all this time and all Christian could do was wait patiently for the skinny man in the meeting to say a word but unfortunately, no words left the man's mouth leaving Christian to be highly disappointed."I've heard what you said Mr Robert and according to what you said. Your company is about to launch another product and you would love to collaborate with my company. Am I correct?" Christian asked, his back slightly leaning against the officer's chair. His cold eyes silently observe the man to see any flaws in h
A few hours went by in a flash and soon it was the evening the next day. A red Lamborghini drove slowly towards a neatly packed parking lot that was already filled with some expensive cars. A few minutes after the car pulled into the parking zone, the door was opened by a tall brown-skinned man, who was in a black suit. His head bowed slightly at the figure inside the car as a form of respect."You don't have to do this all the time," Christian's calm voice sounded within the car just before his leg came into contact with the floor."It's part of my job," Stanley calmly replied and moved a step back the instant Christian alighted from the car. His eyes swept over the place then he closed the car after he saw that there was no danger around or any suspicious human being. Before them was a gigantic building in the middle east of the city_ a place where only the nobles and high class were entitled to visit. Even to get the token to be in this place was something no one could achieve unl
Dadun! " What?" Alice's eyes widened in shock, and she slowly turned around to see where the voice had come from. Standing a few feet away from her were Harry and his mates, probably those youger generations who wanted to link up to those with higher status."Harry?" Alice said through gritted teeth. Harry smirked at her, then turned his gaze to the figure behind her."I wonder what you saw in him to have dated him," he muttered, then closed his eyes. "From how he's dressed, I can tell he's the heir of one of the middle-class families. They don't have much influence compared to us, so I'm still curious to know what you saw in him that made you date him." He rubbed his jaw thoughtfully. The silence that followed his words was deafening. Alice stood there, frozen, not knowing what to say or do. She felt like a deer in the headlights, her mind racing as she tried to process what was happening. She'd thought that the worst thing that could happen tonight would be getting embarrassed by
The elderly man said, his eyes fixed on Christian. Christian, on the other hand, was completely unfazed and simply stared back at him with a calm expression."I see…" The man muttered again, then closed his eyes."He may leave now. I've seen what I needed to see, there's nothing more," he added, causing a frown to appear on Alice's face."Father, I thought you wanted to watch his arts skills?" she questioned, a little anxious. But her father's cold demeanor and dismissive aura made her shudder and back away. "I don't need to repeat myself twice," he said coldly, then picked up the jade cup from the table, which held a hot tea inside. He placed the cup on his lips and took a sip of it."This is very good," he said, with a pleasant smile on his face.Alice stared at her father for a moment, understanding that he didn't want this matter to continue. With that, she turned towards Christian and flashed him an apologetic look."I'm sorry," she muttered, bowing her head in shame.Christian
