Preperations 2

When I entered, the first thing I noticed was that it was well-maintained with a professional impression; it was nowhere close to the fictional ones with drunk adventurers brawling and swearing at each other. This is not a tavern, so it is expected, I guess.

At the receptionist’s desk, there is a beautiful lady. She has long black hair, red eyes, slender figure with no disturbing portions. Her name is Cassandra. However, it seems she worked overnight, and she is showing signs of insomnia as well. She was also working at another job, which is related to the blacksmith, because of the calluses in her hands. She also has a boyfriend whom she flirted with not too long ago, which I can understand from the act of trying to cover the hickeys in her neck.

It seems the trait observer on effect. Anyway, it is not good to stare at someone you don’t know for too long, and it seems she was a bit uncomfortable as well.

“Hello, how may I help you, sir?” she asked with a slightly tired voice.

“Good morning. I want to register as an adventurer. Can I know what the requirements are?” I decided not to beat around the bush and ask directly.

“Sir, first, you need to be at least 14. If not, you need to have the approval of your parents. Second, you need to pass the combat test given by an examiner of the guild. And according to your performance, you will be ranked.” She explained briefly.

“Is there a way to not have an examination? I don’t want to lose too much time. And can you explain what these ranks are?”

“Sir-“

“You can call me Darius if you want.”

“Okay, Mister Darius. There are ranks for adventurers that indicate the strength or skill of each adventurer. It is parallel to hero ranks, which I hope you know about. And in order to avoid examination, if you are a student in an academy, you can show us your student badge, and we can register you directly. I am sorry, but there is no other way for it.”

“Is the recommendation letter okay for this application?”

I brought it with me in case someone decided to robe my room, but if it works like that, it’s better.

“Let me check it. It is okay. Can you give me your recommendation letter, please?”

“Here you go.”

With that, she started to type something on her computer. After two or three minutes, she brought me a card which is my adventurer license, I presume.

“Here is your adventurer license, Mr. Darius. Welcome to the adventurer guild. I hope you have a good day.”

It seems everyone starts as an F-rank adventurer. Well, it is fine. I can’t get an E-rank quest, but I don’t think my strength would be sufficient for it, either.

“Thank you. And do you know a place for me to buy armor and equipment? I am new in this city.”

“You can go to blacksmith street, which is on the way of the wilderness.”

“Thank you, Miss Cassandra. I hope you have a healthy relationship with your boyfriend. And you need to cover your neck better if you don’t want any gossip. See you later.”

With that, I left the guild branch. However, while leaving, I saw a faint blush on her cheeks. It seems her boyfriend will get a scolding.

After that, I stopped by blacksmith street. Most of the shops are open, and there aren’t many people here either.

However, most of the shops are too amateurish; they can’t even balance the knives, let alone swords or spears.

But one shop caught my interest. It seems this guy has some talent. This shop is shabby and hasn’t been cleaned for a long time, and if I didn’t see the good proportions of these knives, there was no way I would step on this place.

Because of my talent [Geometric Eyesight], I can see angles, the center of gravity, and the lengths of things with my eyes if I focus.

“Hello, is anyone here?” With that, I decided to call the blacksmith running this shop.

“I am coming. Wait for a minute!!” A shabby-looking, short and muscular guy came into my view.

“What do you need, boya?”

The rough-looking guy asked me with a strange accent.

It seems this shop hasn’t had any customers for a long time. And from the looks of it, someone is targeting this shop since there are several signs of falling down all around this place, and there are signs of attacking as well.

I expected from the outer appearance of the shop but seeing this guy just proves it. There are traces of getting beaten on his arms, and there are chain marks around his wrists. It seems the police are involved in this case as well. Anyway, none of these are my concern.

“I want a bow for beginners, five smoke arrows, five arrows with different types of poisons, five elemental arrows with different elements, 50 normal type arrows, one rope, a leather armor set, a tent, five throwing knives, two daggers for close combat and five common grade potions. How much would all of them cost?”

While I was talking, he was noting my orders. And after a bit of calculation, he returned with a price list.

“That would be 850 Utopis, but boya let me tell ya’. I don’t have any leather armor, but if ya’ want, I can recommend a bro of ma’ in which ya’ can buy decent leather armor at 250 Utopis.”

I see that it was more expensive than I thought. Well, it is not that expensive either, and it is still better than most of the trash out there, so it is fine.

“Okay, then I will buy the weapons from you and the armor from ‘ya’ bro’. Do you have them ready, or do you need some time?”

Even if he doesn’t have everything ready, I will still go to the wilderness for some hunting, but it would be best to prepare for everything in advance.

“After 30 minutes, everything will be ready. Ya’ can come and get your equipment after that.”

“Then I will check the armory first and come back 30 minutes later; see you.”

With that, I left for the armory and came back with my armor equipped. The armory guy was good and friendly, a bit too talkative in the morning, even for a morning person like me. But his armor qualities and prices were decent enough, so I endured it.

And, I can clearly see why they are good friends with that guy in the weaponry.

“Hello, I am back. Do you have my equipment ready?”

“Hello again. Here you go, boya. I added two arrows to each special one and ten normal arrows. I also added a quiver for carrying arrows. Ya’ can also come back to maintain yer equipment if ya’ er happy with those weapons.”

“Thank you for the additions. I will be in your care then. Let’s get along. You can call me Darius if you want.”

“Okay, Darius boya. You can call me Gorsaeth.”

I see, so he is a dwarf. Well, it is certainly not unexpected. Most humans discriminate against each other, so it is not hard to understand what they would do if the other party were not human. And also, there is the thing with his accent; although this accent is pretty much abandoned by dwarves, some of them are still using it.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Gorsaeth. Again, let’s get along in the future.”

“Nice to meet you too, Mr. Darius. Goodbye.”

With that, my preparations are finished. Now I am ready to step into the wilderness.
