Chapter 8

Felix looked Daniel up and down with a face that showed belittlement.

"He is not worth my time sir," Felix answered Mr Lorenzo.

Daniel felt the insult and got up to talk back but Gabriel stopped him.

"Enough of that Daniel. We did not come here to discuss punctuality. There is a serious issue at hand." the head of the spy organisation, Gabriel, said to Daniel.

Daniel sat down reluctantly and was angered.

"You have to believe us when we say, none of our members crossed to your territory. We have been busy with a different operation that doesn't concern your side of the city." Gabriel said to Lorenzo.

"And what operation might that be?" Lorenzo asked Gabriel.

"It's confidential Mr Lorenzo," Gabriel said.

"With all that was said and no proof of not being guilty, I can only let you and your organisation off with a warning Mr Gabriel. Remember, I can bring you all to the light of the world." Mr Lorenzo threatened.

"That's something we can never forget Mr Lorenzo," Gabriel replied.

Mr Lorenzo stood up and so did other members of his organisation.

"What do you think sir? Are they telling the truth?" Christoph whispered to Mr Lorenzo.

"It appears so. There is a possibility that another group has formed and is plotting against us. If there is a rat among us then it cannot possibly be one person sending him to watch us. The spy organisation won't be stupid enough to mess with us when their entire existence is in our hands." Mr Lorenzo replied Christoph, only audible enough for Christoph to hear.

Gabriel walked up to Mr Lorenzo, "Thank you, sir. For believing us." Gabriel said and brought his hand forward to Mr Lorenzo.

"Who said I ever did? Just watch your steps. Control your people and I will control mine." Mr Lorenzo replied to Gabriel and walked off without taking a handshake.

Gabriel awkwardly brought his hand down and went ahead to speak to the others while Daniel sat with his eyes on Felix.

While getting out with the others, Felix's phone rang.

He checked the caller's name and saw that it was Diana.

Felix had to fully come out of the secret room and into the open before escaping the rest of his group and heading for the corner of a building.

The ringing had ended and Felix had to call Diana back but she called again before he could and he accepted the call.

"Babe, are you okay?" That was Diana's first question for Felix.

"Uh... Yes? Why do you ask?" Felix questioned Diana.

"Nothing important dear. I... I just missed you. I wanted to check up on you but I didn't know what to say." Diana answered.

Felix laughed, "I missed you too." he replied to Diana.

Felix and Diana spoke for a little while before ending the call.

Just as Felix was about to leave, Daniel emerged from nowhere and pinned Felix by the neck to the wall.

Felix pushed Daniel off himself so hard that Daniel almost tripped.

"What the hell were you planning to do?! Do you know who I am?!" Felix yelled at Daniel.

"Honestly, I don't give an F. I'm going to teach you a lesson on how to speak to people older than you are." Daniel replied to Felix and threw a blow which Felix dodged and put a foot to the side which tripped Daniel successfully.

Without Felix's awareness, Daniel packed up a handful of sand. Just as Daniel fabricated weakness while standing,

Daniel hurled the sand at Felix's face and tacked Felix to the wall after it got into Felix's eyes.

Daniel was ready to give Felix blows to the face but hesitated when he saw something.

The first two buttons of Felix's shirt had opened and there was a mark which was rear but recognised by Daniel.

"It... It can't be... Is he?" Daniel mouthed inaudibly.

Felix saw that Daniel was drawn away by something and so he took that chance to make his move.

Felix gave Daniel a strong headbutt which caused Daniel to stagger back.

Felix then clenched his fists and hit Daniel's shoulders, resulting in Daniel dropping to his knees and making way for Felix to finish up with a hard kick to the back of the head and face which made Daniel fall unconscious.

"So much for second in command," Felix said and left.

Daniel woke up, feeling some warmth on his head. His eyes opened to see his wife's face above his.

Daniel's head was on the thighs of his wife and she was pressing a warm wet cloth to his head.

"You're awake," Susanne said, after realising that her husband had opened his eyes.

In the process of getting up, dizziness struck Daniel's head and his wife helped him to relax back.

"Calm down and relax your head," Susanne said to Daniel.

Daniel calmed down and breathed in and out slowly as he closed his eyes.

"Now tell me, how did this happen to you? I was lucky to have found you because your body was in a hidden spot." Susanne said to her husband.

"Susanne you won't believe it. You will not believe who I saw." Daniel said to Susanne.

Daniel sat up slowly and then held the hands of his wife. He looked into her eyes and wasn't sure of how to deliver the news to his wife.

"What is it?" Susanne asked Daniel, a broad smile on her face.

"Susanne... I think I've found our son." Daniel said.

Susanne's smile faded and on her face was a mixture of shock and fear.

Susanne felt her heart seize as her husband told her about their son who was gone since his birth.

"What?!" Susanne exclaimed angrily but realizing her mistake in her outburst, she quickly changed her mood to a sad one while Daniel looked on.

Susanne sobbed, "Daniel you know what state I was in back then when we lost our child. When do you bring the issue up again? Do you want to break my heart over again?" Susanne said to Daniel.
