"Found what you are looking for?" The voice asked over the phone. Declan had received the phone call as soon as they found out that Anderson was missing.
"Where have you taken him to?" Declan asked, shaking with fury.
"You don't have to know about that", the voice continued.
"How on earth did you take him away?" Declan asked again, a bit unsure of how to keep the unknown caller rambling while he tried to get out the tiniest bit of information he wanted.
The voice did not sound like that of Raymond's attorney. This had to be an accomplice in their circle.
"Well", he began. "While you and your lover sat discussing just outside the ward, I just had to pull off a few strings
Daniel quickly entered his car and sped off. The road was dark and his windscreen was blurry from the mist, but he did his possible best to get to the highway. He looked into the car mirror and watched out for any approaching vehicle or one that chased after him. He did not want to be caught unawares. His heart was still pounding when he got on the highway. He managed to wipe his windscreen a little so he could at least see the road ahead of him.The night was chilly but beads of perspiration trekked down the sides of his head. The events of earlier had taken him unawares and got him terrified. He had sensed that something was amiss as he stopped by the harbor.
Declan advanced into the house quietly while looking at his back at intervals. He could not afford to be caught off guard. The person was in his kitchen and he was cautious. There were a lot of things that could be used to harm him in the kitchen. He only held a bat.He reached the kitchen and a woman was there, with her back turned to him. She had a headset on. He looked closely. Only one person had such straight shoulders and a unique hourglass figure. Samantha! He ran across the Island and embraced her from behind. It startled her but he cared less.He closed in and basked in the newfound comfort that seemed to be on her shoulders."You know I can stay this way all day", he said, his speech slurry. She laughed and he realized that he had missed the sound of her laughter. He finally let her go so she could get back to what she was doing. He scanned her. She wore a skimpy night dress that showed a lot of skin but still concealed her assets. Her skin shone in the bright light, and he
Patricia shook Damian. The fright in her eyes made her seem like she was insane. She looked at Daniel. He was bleeding from the side of his head. She wanted to reach out for him, but she also wanted to make sure that her eleven-month-old was doing fine. She checked his head but there were no signs of bruises or swelling. She lifted him to her face to feel his breath. It was shallow, but she was glad that there was something there. All she needed to do was to get him to a hospital as soon as possible. She shook Declan again. He finally opened his eyes and she breathed of relief. He held his head in pain almost immediately."How is he?" He asked her hurriedly, trying to reach out for him. Patricia would not let him touch the boy, so he refrained. "We need to get help immediately", she said instead. He got down from the car and looked around. They were in a deserted road and it made him panic, but he still wanted to look for a way to help out his family. If Damian died, Patricia would
Declan tapped his foot impatiently in the courtroom. He could not wait for the proceedings to be over, so he could go see Hannah and his unborn child. He had texted his father endlessly who had been reassuring him that everything was fine. He did not think so. He still panicked. Soon, he felt Samantha's hand on his thigh. It was her little way of calming him. She noticed he was tense and it worried her too. He looked down at her hand. He liked that she wore his ring with pride. He had never felt so relaxed from a single gesture. Tears of joy brimmed in his eyes. She made him so happy. He looked up at Anderson in a bid to blink back the tears that threatened to fall. Anderson was still limping. They had nursed him back to health, but they had fractured his leg badly. Everyone thought that he would not be able to make it on the day of the court proceedings. To everyone's surprise, they wheeled him into the courtroom. When it was his turn to question the witness Raymond's attorney h
"And a girl?!" Declan asked in disbelief. He was sure that he had heard the doctor right. "Yes", doctor Pat said with a huge smile."I did not know that there were two babies", Declan said, almost screaming for joy.He was elated. He hugged Samantha and spun her around while she giggled. He kissed her on the lips lightly afterward. If she wanted to surprise him, then she had done a really good job with it."Can I see them now?" He asked, too excited to put his words together."Just give us a few minutes", doctor Pat replied, turning to leave.Declan waited impatiently. He was anticipating seeing Hannah and the kids and it was almost like a dream. While he waited, he saw his father and some members of the domestic staff enter the hospital. Samantha must have told them the good news. They had balloons all over the place that read it is a boy and a girl. It made him smile.A nurse soon appeared and ushered them into the ward. Hannah was still fast asleep, and the nurse had reassured hi
Daniel opened his eyes and breathed relief when he saw that he was not shot. Patricia had missed the shot and he wondered how dumb she was. He was just in front of her, and at a very close range. If she wanted to kill him so badly, then she had missed a great opportunity to do so.The gunshot had woken their son up, and they heard his cries.Patricia stood there trembling. He charged at her and took the gun from her hand in one swift movement, hoping that the gunshot had not alerted anyone around. The house was secluded in a thicket and they had no neighbors for about a mile and a half. As she attempted to move and go pick the baby up, he slapped her so hard across the cheek. She landed on the sofa and hit her head on the edge of a side table. Drops of blood soon appeared."Were you trying to kill me, you bitch?" He barked. She yelped in pain but he was not willing to render her any help. She looked around her for anything at all to defend herself. There was a sculpture that sat
Declan sat in the office with the envelope in his hands. Although he was alone, he was still very nervous. He had left the hospital where Ferdinand had decided to spend the day with Hannah and the kids. Samantha was working and he decided to recoil in his office before he read the test results. He exhaled loudly as he remembered the words of Doctor Pat. He had told him the real meaning of fatherhood but he had his fears. He decided that no matter the outcome of the result, he would stick to being the father of the children. He had held them in his hands and he had felt the sudden urge to protect them like they were his. He was ready to be a father to them, at least he was willing to give it a try.He impatiently tore open the envelope, surprising himself. He straightened the paper and read through making sure not to miss any important information. Just at the end of the paper was where the result was. It said that he was not the father of the children."This can't be happening", he
Patricia froze as the cold hands met her shoulders. She used her hand to search for a weapon while she held onto her son."Come with me", the person said. It was not Daniel. She turned around with a start. An old man was looking at her. She forgot to notice that the hands felt rough against her skin. The man started to walk away as she contemplated on if it was safe to follow him or not. He had a shotgun and looked like a hunter. However, she wondered who hunted at night. From a distance, she could see Daniel's flashlight. At any time, he would be close to where she was and she was oblivious to what to do. She finally took the bold decision and followed the old man. He did not go towards the road. Instead, he took another turn and it led them to a serene pathway. She looked back and she noticed that they had missed Daniel. She wanted to feel relieved but she did not know if to trust the man that was leading her. They walked for a long time, and in the midst of it all, Damian had f
