Daniel quickly entered his car and sped off. The road was dark and his windscreen was blurry from the mist, but he did his possible best to get to the highway.
He looked into the car mirror and watched out for any approaching vehicle or one that chased after him. He did not want to be caught unawares.
His heart was still pounding when he got on the highway. He managed to wipe his windscreen a little so he could at least see the road ahead of him.
The night was chilly but beads of perspiration trekked down the sides of his head.
The events of earlier had taken him unawares and got him terrified. He had sensed that something was amiss as he stopped by the harbor.
