Declan paced about the study. The call had unsettled him, and he had quickly withdrawn from the party, and came into the study. At this point, he wished he was still in touch with the police. 

The FBI had advised him to leave his phone connected to their system so that they would trace Daniel further. 

He had not paid much heed to the advice. Even if he had left them the access they needed, it may not have helped because it was a private number. 

But there was something that could be done by their department at least. This was the kind of loose end that Daniel would never let go of. But here he was, regretting that he had not done the needful.

Nothing prepared him for this call from Daniel. Al
