“You ready?”

“Does it look like I’m not?” I ask, opening my arms.

“Confident, I like.” Felix sneers, patting my back.

“Is Airis coming?”

“She’s already here.”

“This early? Did you see her?”

“I met her and she had a little something for you.” He takes out a cream envelope from his pocket. I quickly snatch it, thrilled to know the contents. As I open the envelope and am about to read the letter, Felix buts his head in. I give him a stingy glare.

“Jeez… So secretive.” He scowls, yet backs away while holding his hands up like surrendering. “I’ll be checking the security and guards. Don’t take too long.”

I nod.

*Thud.*

Felix closes the door, resulting in me alone in my bedroom. Staring at the letter in hand, I quickly read it.

Good luck with the voting session today! I am confident you will get the most votes. Even if you do not, you have mine! – and the worst-case scenar

“I don’t see what’s wrong with calling a piece of sh*t ‘a piece of sh*t’.” I remark coldly. “Killian, unmask him.” I order. Killian nods, taking off his mask using his sword, and throwing it away. ‘Oh, he is…’ Count Gall Lorence, one of Aiden’s judgemental supporters. But his family isn’t that influential nor wealthy to execute such a crime. Somebody must be behind him. “Hey, pale one. What did this ‘responsible’ count offer?” I ask, turning to the other man. “He… fainted, my lady.” Killian informs indifferently. “Such a coward for someone who tried to earn money the dirty way.” I roll my eyes. “So, Count. Wanna confess?” “You ain’t getting anything out of me, b*tch!” “Hah, is that so?” I scoff, slowly pushing the heel of my high heel into his head. “Ahhh-!” He screams in excessive pain. “I’m sure you know that I’ve slain over 10 magical beasts at once and destroyed a man’s entire bloodline durin

*Creak…* The door slowly opens as I enter. The corners of my lips carve a small joyful smile upon seeing a certain somebody sitting on my desk with her legs crossed as if it’s hers. “You’re here.” Airis gets down from my desk and walks towards me, but maintaining at least 4.5 feet in distance. “Yeah…” “…” “…” The atmosphere becomes quiet. Only the sounds of particles and specks of dust moving in the wind could be heard – if there is a sound. ‘…I should lighten the mood.’ “So, you-!” “So, you-!” We both said the same thing simultaneously, looking at each others’ eyes. In a moment, we quickly turn our heads aside, with intense redden cheeks and ears. “Uh… You first.” Airis insists, though her voice is as stiff as an iron rod. Through the corner of my eye, I see her head slowly return to me, the person she’s conversing with, but her gaze is placed elsewhere. “Ehem! So… h-how have you b

“Originally, I wanted to reject you cause I’m afraid of hurting you since I’ll return to my world. But now, I’m going to think only about the present.” I continue, without pulling my head out from his shirt. I’m afraid to meet his mesmerizing gaze. I don’t dare to look up with these heated up cheeks and ears. Though a satisfying and proud feeling flutters inside me. I succeed. I succeed in saying the heaviest and most embarrassing words I’ve ever said in both my current and previous life. “Ah!” I gasp as the arms around me embrace tighter. He rests his head on my shoulder which is covered with my hair. “…I’m happy. I’m happy you feel the same.” He confesses in a loving emotional tone, too near to my right ear that it tickles from the blowing strands of my baby hairs around it caused by his breathing. Remaining in that position for some time, we let go, freeing each other and keeping our arms to ourselves. The warmth of his embrace and hands brushing m

  • Vision Of Ardiane   MEMORY 24: Our Picnic (Pt.1)

The smell of wood from the high multiple rows of bookshelves and books spike my nose. I have to praise the librarian and maids for taking good care of the mansion’s library. I doubt I’d sneeze due to dust because I don’t spot specks of dust anywhere. The library is quiet and peaceful. I haven’t stopped by for some of the time. I lean on the wall at the bay window with my legs extend to the front. Receiving vitamin D from the morning sunlight, I flip to the next page of the novel I’m currently reading, Travel To You – a story about a brother who searches the whole continent to find his lost sister. Its plot is kind of cheesy, but it’s heartwarming to see the brother never gives up on finding his sister, overcoming every obstacle that the author specially wrote for him. Living as Kira Vuitton, I was the eldest child. It’s a given that my 4 younger siblings – 2 boys and 2 girls – would depend on me after my parents. Due to that, I had always wished for an older brother

I pull my hair to my face to cover my red cheeks and ears – I don’t care if they’ll be ruined after this. Azher chuckles seeing me so. “I’m afraid I can’t fulfill my promise.” “What promise?” I face him again, my hair is still doing its job in hiding my expression. “I won’t propose to you in public. I refuse to let people see this cute side of you.” He speaks in a territorial tone. “Hah, you’re becoming more demanding lately.” “Only to you, my dear.” He winks adding a smirk. “Gosh, please stop with the cringe!” I yell, clenching my hair tighter. My heart can’t take this kind of treatment in one go! “Hahaha!” Azher laughs, his body shakes from the force of laughter. “Let’s go outside. I’ve prepared something for you.” He says, taking my wrist while I release my hair. “Wait. I need to ask Dad’s permission first.” “The duke permits it. I’ve asked him for you.” We start walking with my wrist in Azher

Kira walks to our picnic spot, under a big shady tree. She sits on my right – both her arms at the back and legs straight to the front. Her neck bends to look up. “The fact you bring me here for a picnic. And dismiss all the knights at a remote area like this.” “They’ll just disturb our moment.” “What if there’s danger?” “I’ll protect you.” She smirks, followed by a soft laugh. “Yes, yes. Why should I be afraid when I’m with Ardiane’s swordsman champion, correct?” Before I could boast further, I feel a sudden weight on my right lap – the leg which is extended forward. I look down, spotting familiar dazzling eyes, a beautiful face, and a cheeky smile lying on my lap. I startle and instantly want get up, but Kira grabs my hand, pinning it down to the ground. “Not fair. How dare you chicken out?” She says, a wave of slight anger in her tone. • Vision Of Ardiane   MEMORY 25: Behind The Mask (Pt.1)

It’s been almost a month since I’ve dated Azher. How time flies, it’s already his coronation day. Yes, his coronation day. Azher had won the election by receiving 60% of the votes – over half of the folks wanted him to be emperor! He’ll ascend the throne as Ardiane’s 18th emperor today, at 3:00 p.m. I’m happy, very happy for him, and because no rebellion or riot will be happening – Lilith was prisoned instantly right after Azher learned of Aiden’s abuse. He reported her to His and Her Majesty immediately. Though he hides the fact that Lilith is the criminal who killed his mother and brother because he wishes to punish her himself. I guess behind those abhorring attitudes lies a yard of family love for his brother. I sit on a black metal bench along the road in Winter Palace, elbows on my lap while resting my chin on my palms – very un-noble-lady-like. Despite the countless bushes of breathtaking flowers and other plants planted around by Azher’s late mother,

My palms withdraw my face which is wearing a desperate expression of denial. “Yuri, it’s nothing like-!” A force pulls me, bumping into a muscular figure. “Thank you for the compliment, Lady Yurisina.” Azher says, grasping me around the shoulders. She nods, satisfied with this kind of reaction. “Or… should I address you as ‘Your Grace’?” He adds, passing my blush to her. Yuri’s white fair skin turns red in less than a second to Azher’s comment. She lowers her head, hiding the prettiest strawberry in my life. I softly giggle. This time, it’s my turn to enjoy Yuri’s cute reactions. “Pardon me, Your Grace, but may I borrow Ki-” My elbow punches into his stomach – he’s about to speak my real name. He bends a little from the pain – though being blocked by me – and changes his words, getting the hint. “-llian’s lady?” “Y-Yes.” Yuri stutters then lift her head to Azher. “Please don’t call me that, Your Highness. I grip the glass in my hand, looking into the reflection of me in the cold water. My eyes are red and puffy from crying. Thankfully, my makeup is waterproof, or it’ll be messy due to the tears. Azher comes and sits beside me after putting away his suit – “Hot.” He says, despite the aircon turned on 18oC.“Theron didn’t erase your memories and told you everything, right?” I fire my assumption, eyes fixated on the water.“…Yes. She thought I have a say in this matter.” Azher truthfully admits, though halting before that.“…” I say nothing. Honestly, I want to complain, but it already took place, so it’s no use.“How are you here?” My head shifts to him, asking a more interesting question.“Theron sent me here.”“How?”“Is it important? I’m here now, aren’t I?” He says, appearing to avoid my qu

  • MEMORY 31: How It Ends (Pt.1)

“You…! Are you alright?!” He yells, rushing towards me and crouching down to check my legs. “How can you be so careless? What if it burns your legs?” He scolds me with an angry frown, but I give no response, only looking at his familiar black hair. He stands up, looking at me a few seconds later. From this nearer distance, I stare at his face, examining every single feature. It’s him. It’s really him. My hand reaches his cheek. It’s chubby. It’s solid. This is real. This isn’t a dream. “Is it… really you?” I ask, somehow sounding desperate. He smiles warmly, grabbing my hand. He looks into my eyes as I look into his. That charming smile. That mesmerizing gaze. Those that I haven’t seen for 5 years. “I found you, Kira.” Thinking no more, my body moves on its own. I hastily pull his suit, hugging him so tight that I don’t care if he’s choking. “Azher! It’s really you!” I cry, squeezing my embrace

*Splash!* “Huff… Huff…” I pant from splashing my face with cold water numerous times, hands leaning on the sink. Yet why am I still not calm?! You deserve to be happy, Kira. You always do. I stare into the reflection of me in the mirror, eyes captured on the purple gem necklace I’ve never taken off in the past 5 years. It’s Purple Tears, the one Azher gave me. It’s also the only thing from Ardiane that’s here in my world – it was around my neck by the time I woke from a coma. Even I don’t understand how it’s possible. “…Hah. I’m pissed.” Not because of Ihan’s words. But because of me. Because of my ignorant self who neglects my happiness. I’m disappointed… with myself. There’s been a thought that frequently lingers in my mind for the past 3 years. For how long are you going to be like this, Kira? Yes, for how long am I going to refuse to move on from Azher? He was somebody I was willing to let go. For

*Click.* Ihan pushes the up arrow button and takes a step back – standing beside me. I discreetly glance at him. He’s wearing a poker face, not the smiley one he’d often wear when visiting other companies. I softly sigh, careful not to get caught. Throughout the journey, we didn’t exchange any words other than the previous unfinished conversation. Yeah, it was also that. ‘What did you mean by that? Surely, not…’ *Ding-!* The system rings, signing the lift has arrived. The door opens, presenting zero souls. I gulp as I enter the lift after Ihan. There are 31 levels in our journey – our destination is at the 35th level. 4 levels had passed yet the awkward bridge between us hadn’t been destroyed. This is definitely the awkwardest lift ride in my entire life! I wish to find a way to break this barrier. Even though Ihan is my mentor, we’re really close friends. Similar to my relationship with… “…” …K

“You’ll get a stomachache if you eat it like that, Kira.” Ihan reminds me, sipping his three shots of Americano. “It’s your treat. Might as well get the best of it.” I answer, continuing to take another bite of the slices of different cakes I’ve ordered despite an empty stomach. Ihan Arias, my mentor and colleague at Memoir – a European cosmetic company. We’ve known each other since a year ago – when I first joined the company. “Why are you craving so many sweets? Stressed?” My hand halts. I lift my head with my messy mouth, expressionless. “Yes! Very! Absolutely!” I yell with the utmost frustration. “Hahaha!” Ihan laughs at my answer, perhaps enjoying my torment. “You’re particularly a female Einstein. How can you be stressed at work?” “Einstein is human and I’m human too, you know?” “A prodigy isn’t human.” He takes another sip. “It’s amazing how you got enrolled in a top university and graduated early despite being i

I start to monitor Kira’s breathing and heartbeat – suddenly remembered first aid – and try to stop her from bleeding more. As time flies, her breath gets heavier to the point I can hear it. She’s starting to have trouble breathing. I check her airways and they’re not clogged. It can mean only one thing… “Azher… Can you… help me?” She asks in an intermittent voice from heavy breathing. “Anything for you.” “I’ve… summoned Theron, yet… she hasn’t… arrived… Can you…” “I’m not leaving you alone.” I say firmly, knowing what the next words are. “No…” She denies. Her eyes avert to Killian’s corpse. “Destroy… moon brooch.” My head shifts and spot a crescent moon brooch. “I think… that’s blocking…” I stand up, not burdening Kira to explain further. Since it’s not far I go and fetch the brooch. As it’s in my grasp, I drop and quickly step on it – to destroy it. But, it doesn’t crack. Not even a little. “…?” I bend

I sprint towards Aiden near the walls – honestly be vibing like a ninja. Azher is doing a great job at averting his attention – shouting and jumping like a wild monkey that escaped from a zoo, and dodging his attacks without a hitch. *Knock!* Aiden falls into my arms from my knock on his neck, lifeless and defenseless. The wooden planks aiming at Azher also fall on the ground because there’s no mana to make flying or floating possible. “Mission complet-” “Kira, let go of that moron!” Azher yells. *Plop.* My body automatically obeys his childish demand – raising both of my hands after letting Aiden fall just like that. “There. Happy?” “Very.” He answers with a chuckle. I smile, then dash to him. He opens his arms wide and I jump right in. “We did it.” I whisper into his ear, standing on my tiptoes with my arms around his neck. My tears are about to fall from this immense joy within me. “Yeah, we did.” He
