"Mr. Scott, are you okay?"

Zach’s men, all still dressed in their suits from the party, approached Scott and Luisa with worried expressions.

Zach had reminded them not to call Scott ‘General’ or ‘War God.’ So, they called him ‘Sir.’

"I'm fine," Scott replied coldly, his gaze still fixed on where the arrow had come from.

Scott huffed in frustration, unable to spot whoever had shot the arrow at him—whether it was Eva herself or someone else.

He glanced again at the white cloth carrying Eva’s challenge, then crumpled it in his hand and tossed it aside. The arrow itself, he snapped in two and discarded.

"Scott, what was that just now?" Luisa finally asked, stepping closer to him, her face full of worry.

"It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it. Let’s go inside," Scott replied, urging Luisa toward the villa.

Luisa’s face was still full of questions, but Scott pretended not to notice. Today, on their wedding day, she had already been through one unpleasant event at the hotel. Scott wasn’t about

Back at Scott's villa...Scott and Luisa were in the open-plan dining area that merged seamlessly with the kitchen. Luisa had asked Scott to sit down first while she prepared the meal.“Here, eat this. You must be hungry after everything that happened today,” Luisa said, handing Scott a plate of food she had chosen for him.Scott took the plate. “Thank you. You should eat too. Let’s eat together,” Scott insisted.Luisa nodded, taking her seat and filling her own plate. She glanced at Scott and asked, “So, what happened at the police station, Scott? They didn’t hurt you, did they?”“No, they didn’t,” Scott replied, shaking his head. “I was just asked for a statement in the interrogation room.”“Really? But why did it take so long?”“Oh, that’s because I was the last one. They interrogated Luisa and her brothers first.”“Oh, I see.”Scott nodded and smiled, signaling with his eyes for Luisa to start eating. As he chewed, Scott replayed the events at the police station in his mind. "What's wrong? Did I hurt you or something?"Scott stared at Luisa, worry and confusion etched on his face. His wife's sudden rejection caught him off guard."Ah, sorry," Luisa muttered, looking down.Scott sighed. He had been annoyed by her refusal at first, but he quickly pushed that feeling aside and looked at his wife with compassion.Kneeling down to be at eye level with her, Scott smiled gently. He lifted his right hand to brush away the hair falling over her shoulder.Smack!Luisa slapped his hand away, standing up abruptly. Her gaze at Scott was now filled with fear, her chest rising and falling rapidly."Luisa?" Scott stood up, reaching out to her again, but she backed away, frightened."I'm sorry, Scott, but I think... we should shower separately. I'll go to my room," Luisa said.Just as she had said, she left Scott's room, closing the door behind her before he could say anything. Scott didn't chase after her. He had noticed the slight tremble in her hands and feet, a clear

The explosion sent thick, dark gray smoke billowing into the air.Judging by the volume of smoke, it was clear that the explosive attached to the arrow earlier had a significant destructive power. The fact that Scott managed to avoid serious injury was nothing short of a miracle. From one of the rooms on the fifth floor of a nearby building, Eva observed Scott’s every move through her high-tech binoculars, just one of the many surveillance gadgets in her arsenal. Her pupils dilated, her gaze filled with both awe and disbelief.“Unbelievable! He’s still standing even after that blast nearly killed him? And not a scratch on him? Who the hell is he?” Eva muttered.Through her binoculars, she saw Scott rise to his feet, casually dusting off his sleeves and pants. This gesture annoyed Eva—it was as if Scott was declaring the explosion meant nothing to him.But then Eva smirked. After all, the explosion was just the beginning of what she had planned for this morning. It was a signal for mor

"Y-you... W-who the hell are you...?" Eva asked as she tried to rise. Actually, there were other questions she wanted to ask, like how Scott had managed to dodge her lethal shots just now. Scott didn't seem to be hurt at all, as if there was a shield protecting his entire body perfectly. "Is that important? Do I need to answer that?" Scott countered, halting his steps. Now Scott stood tall in front of Eva, his fists clenched and his eyes blazing. Eva had never seen someone with such a terrifying presence before. Not even a large bear she once faced in a forest in northern Japan a few years ago was as terrifying as this. Eva felt that the figure standing before her now was a monster. And no matter how high her mastery of the martial arts she had studied for five years in Japan and China, she believed that it was all useless now. She had never trained to face a monster. "W-what are you going to do... to me?" Eva asked again. Scott squinted his eyes. The way he looked at Eva

Jared stared at the figure that had just appeared before him. He squinted, surprised to see the guy leap from a third-story window and land without a scratch.Normally, a guy would break a leg, maybe even snap a bone."You Scott Goodman?" Jared asked."Yeah. You got a problem with me?" Scott shot back.Jared’s jaw tightened. Scott's arrogant swagger pissed him off. He pointed the pistol in his hand at Scott."You the one who put my boys down like this? Answer me!" Jared roared.Scott intimidated? Not a chance. He just raised an eyebrow and smirked."Yeah, that was me. What? You want me to beat you up like I beat them?" Scott said."You son of a bitch! How dare you talk to Boss Jared like that!" one of Jared's goons yelled from his left, the guy in the plain t-shirt who had been firing shots into the air. Now, the mobster pointed his rifle at Scott, and the other goons followed suit.Scott locked eyes with him, a wicked smile curling his lips as he tilted his chin."Stop it! Their blood was pouring out, pooling on the ground.Jared and his remaining goons instinctively backed away. They stared, disbelieving what they saw. And somehow, he looked bigger, as if a dark light surrounded his body, burning like fire."Boss?" Horn approached Jared, staring at him intensely, urging him to give an order. But Jared ignored him. At this point, he didn't know what order to give. Suddenly, all his arrogance and swagger had vanished. He felt so small in front of Scott."Boss? Give us your order!" 'What does this mean? Is it true that Scott offered him a more fantastic amount than what I offered him?' Angela wondered. In front of her, Palmer didn't look like he was joking at all. He was completely serious. And Scott, as if he was so satisfied with their current situation, gave him a wide mocking smile.Scott also raised one eyebrow. This made Angela even more annoyed. She snorted like an angry bull."What is this, Detective Palmer? How can you make a decision like that? You're bound by a cooperation agreement with us. You have to complete the mission we gave you. We've granted your request for the pay raise you asked for!" Angela protested.Palmer looked at her but said nothing. The look in his eyes seemed to say that he had made a decision that could no longer be revoked."As stated in our cooperation agreement, Miss Angela, if I, for whatever reason, abandon this mission halfway, then I am obliged to pay a penalty or fine. She, with her mother's approval, had paid the private detective a lot, even increasing his pay after their latest agreement. It was impossible for a Scott Goodman, who in her eyes was still a man from an ordinary background, to offer a more fantastic amount to the private detective."If you're only here to say empty words, you should leave now, get out of my office and get out of our office!" Angela said loudly, pointing to the door.Scott furrowed his brow, raising one eyebrow. A thin smirk appeared on his face."Empty words? Do you think what I just said to you is empty word

Who are you?" he asked. At this point, Palmer felt something cold and hot on his neck. Eva had just made a cut on his neck. It was thin."I'm the one who's going to ask you some questions. You just answer my questions honestly. Outside of that, you're not allowed to say anything. You got it?!"Eva widened her eyes further. Palmer could be sure that the woman he was facing was a strong person. And she had a cold heart. So, Palmer, who was about to say something else, held back. His mouth was slightly open, but it quickly closed again."First question," Eva said, "what's your purpose in watching Scott's movements these past few days?"...Scott had left the bowling alley a few minutes ago. Palmer, the private detective hired by Angela and Luisa simultaneously, had just parked his black Magna 3 Hatchback in the parking area of a bowling alley.Getting out of the car, he glanced briefly to the left, making sure Scott's black McLaren was there. He had been secretly following Scott since Scott left his luxurious villa in Oval Enclave that morning.Palmer closed his car door and locked it with the remote. He looked up, reading the name of the billiard hall. His forehead furrowed. Honestly, he was surprised why Scott entered the bowling alley so early in the morning. As far as he knew, Scott wasn't someone who often bowled. But maybe he was wrong. Maybe this was something he missed. That's what he thought then. After all, Palmer had only been observing Scott's movements for the past few days. It was natural if there were still things he didn't know about Scott, including his weekly routine.Palmer put on his sunglasses, and also straightened his black leather jacket. Fortunat

But he dared to say, this was his first time feeling a painful death standing right in front of him."Ten seconds. At the same time, at the Battalion I military headquarters...Scott had just arrived there by taxi. Now he was walking towards Zach's room."Have you found something?" Scott asked as he entered Zach's room.Zach, who was sitting staring at his laptop, immediately stood up and gave Scott a military salute. Scott returned Zach's salute casually. Zach lifted his laptop and gestured for Scott to go to the long, wide table that was often called the "strategy table.""Based on our findings so far, General, Richard's two men were taken away by someone before we arrived at the location. We haven't been able to uncover this person's identity yet, but it's clear that they were hiding in the forest not far from the scene. We found tire tracks from a single vehicle. Most likely, this person followed you and your stalkers on a motorcycle."Scott listened attentively to Zach's explanation. Zach continued to give a presentation of his and his men's findings while showing the evidence they had obtain

  • Luisa's Request

The next morning, Luisa went to work as usual. Bored of being alone, Scott decided to work out.Come to think of it, he hadn't used his free time in the morning to train his muscles and improve his fitness for quite some time. Lately, he had been quite often waking up and using his inner energy, and frankly, he was starting to feel the effects: his stamina had decreased slightly.Right now, Scott was doing a solo workout, without equipment, with high intensity. For someone like him, muscle training equipment like dumbbells or barbells was no longer that important. During his military life, he had found many ways to keep training his muscles and maintaining his physique with his bare hands. It had been almost an hour since he started his workout. His body was drenched in sweat. His breath was panting and his chest was heaving. If you looked closely, you would clearly see the muscles in his arms, legs, abs, chest, and back tightening. That question, if asked by someone else to him, would have been easily ignored by Scott. But when the one asking it was his own wife, the only woman he loved, Scott was caught in a dilemma.'I'm a man with a dark past. Many people resent me and hunt me. Earlier, I just dealt with two of them.'That's what he wanted to tell Luisa. But of course, he couldn't say it. No matter how much he wanted to stop keeping secrets from his wife, he couldn't do it. Not right now.All of this was for his wife's good too. Scott was forced to lie for the umpteenth time."What do you mean by that question, Honey? I'm not hiding anything from you. There really was an incident earlier and I had to take care of it first, then I could go home. And about the woman you're talking about..."Scott paused for a few seconds. During that time, Luisa didn't stop staring at him. She was like a lie detector machine being used in an interrogation."She's my friend," Scott continued. "Ah, not a friend, actually, but an
