As soon as Ronan's group made it through the Silver House door, the guides ditched them in the hands of what they called the Sector Leaders, which summed up to be a lady with a silky and caring personality, and a boot camp commander wannabe that immediately divided the group into girls and boys. The lady took the girls away, and left the boys cringing under the oppressing aura of Sev.At least, that's the name he introduced himself with."No runnin', no killin' each other, no animals taller than your waist, and no creepin' on the ladies dorm." Sev announced. He'd pulled the group to the far left of the lobby room, and up a tight flight of stairs, where he turned around and blocked the exit. "Oh yeah, and don't be cursing your faces off without a good reason, unless ya wanna be singing like a lady during dinner time for everyone to hear."Sev led the group into a short, door-lined hall, ending with another door acting as an exit."Righty now, check out your cards if ya have em, if ya d
After Truvius convinced Ronan eating food wouldn't kill him and not doing such would, Ronan found himself seated at one of three long tables stretching across most of a window lit cafeteria. Talli and Veronica seated themselves across from them, and Truvius kept their attention by holding an ever changing thread of conversation that he would quickly revive whenever it died out.He silently ate his food without trying to think of what it was made of. Whenever he stuffed a piece in his mouth he would quickly try to relate it to something Earthy, which kept him from losing his appetite at most times. When he was almost through with his plate, a furry mass jumped onto his lap and squirmed over to the empty seat beside him.Ragdoll gave her face a couple licks then cuddled up right next to him and closed her eyes."Hah! there you are. By the way, your cat ran away..." A gloved hand came down upon Ronan's head and violently ruffled his hair, the familiar voice vanquished any cheer he'd acqu
He awoke to the feeling of something hard and heavy on his face, alongside a dull, chilling pain constricting his nose. With a passive groan he reached up and grabbed the object, immediately throwing it away when it started wriggling in his grasp. The light of day barraged his eyes, as he squinted over the edge of his bed where he'd heard the harsh impact.A tiny metal dragon popped into his view, wiping its glossy face a couple times before it gave him an insulted look, and crawled up the nightstand. The dragon found its perch on top of the clock, and stared at him with sapphire eyes, a hint of expectancy clouding its face. He blinked, curiously moving his finger towards the dragon's head. It didn't move until he stroked its nose and it latched its toothless jaws onto his finger, promptly refused to unhand his pointer finger and dangled in the air like a wet rag."It's not gonna stop bugging you until you get up," Truvius called. He was already wearing his uniform, and had a friendly
Veronica was already yawning repeatedly as she walked out of the class, while Talli was frantically trying to scribble down everything the teacher had said. Truvius was finally silent as he completed their little meeting circle, likely because, like Ronan, he was trying not to laugh at the red mark across Veronica's forehead that perfectly mimed the bumping stripes of her sleeve."The next class had better be good," she said, stretching out her legs from the extended amounts of sitting.Talli pulled up her sleeve and looked at the sender. "I-I think we have Lumience c-combat class next."Veronica yanked up her sleeve to see for herself. "Yes! I can finally blow something up and get marks for it!" she cheered, receiving a quick glance of worry from some students walking out the door.Ronan found himself being dragged back and forth repeatedly this particular day, and although he hated the monotonous practice, he wordlessly complied when Truvius dragged him back to their dorm.Truvius w
Lunch was long, long enough that Ronan managed to eat his food and spend an hour trying to find Red; because if he could speed up his ride back home in any way, he was willing to help. Unfortunately, everyone he questioned came up with the same answer, they knew him, but not enough to know where he was. While he was following a lead Sev gave him on Red's whereabouts, he found himself passing the same room. It was empty, and the stone wall was still solid as ever, standing tall without a trace of the dark hall he'd first seen.He approached the wall and knocked on it. He didn't know what he was expecting, but it made the same noise it would have if he punched a rock. There seemed to be nothing there, but he couldn't have imagined that thing, and Veronica was with him.Looking around for any spectators first, he pressed his ear against the wall. He sat there for a bit listening intently, but it didn't make a squeak."Sorry, I'm afraid that's just a wall."Ronan whipped around to behold
The Queen stepped in front of the cave, its bulky muscles rippling beneath its pristine white coat as it let out a couple ragged growls. There were multiple crude pink scars along its torso, and from what Ronan could make out, its horn was covered in scratches and sticky brown stains, especially near the tip. His heart flipped with a sickening spike as the Queen twitched in motion to look at the cave, instinctively driving him back into the shadows for safety. He paced his breathing, taking in the murderous air that hugged him through the chilling shade of the cave.Never in his life had he imagined a unicorn like that. After all, they were commonly associated with harmless rainbows where he came from. The Queen gave the furry white creature another bellowing growl of a snort, and dragged its horn back and forth across the dirt, carving a line of death in front it that the small ball of fluff didn't dare to cross. The three baby unicorns came up behind it again, continuing their cruel
The Queen charged with blind rage at the creature, and the thick black claws dug into the dirt, barely budging as the Queen hit it with the bulk of its mass. Ronan slowly lifted his head to get a look at his saviour, watching as the Vidaean caught the Queen's horn in its menacing antlers and dragged its head into a tree with a hollowed thwack. The Queen didn't give in, tearing its horn from the interlacing bones and attempting to rise above its opponent by standing on its hind legs and throwing out its front hooves to hit the Vidaean square in the face. That was the only attack it managed to get off however, as the Vidaean ducked down and scooped the Queen's front half up, effortlessly ramming it against the closest tree and slamming the flailing warhorse sized unicorn to the ground. It let out a hissing grunt as the Queen snorted and barked out feral growls, pinning its neck and pressing the thick black talons into its throat.Ronan watched as the once terrifying beast that tried to
Ronan sacrificed one of his pillows when he got to his room, so he could place the unconscious dragon in the furthest corner Truvius could find, and leave a small bowl of water beside it.After shooing his bird out the window, Truvius washed the dragon's wounded ear and brushed the dirt out of its fur, rubbing a green spread over most of its bleeding scrapes and wrapping them up with fresh linen. After a quick drying enchantment, the soggy dragon resembled a puffy white cloud, almost blending in with the brilliant white pillow it was on.Truvius gave his work a satisfied sigh, sitting beside Ronan on the edge of his bed as they stared at the dragon."He's got a broken wing, but I'm bad at healing so there's not much I can do."The two boys sat in silence, contemplating the amount of trouble they had committed themselves to. Ronan was tempted to take a picture of the cute ball of fluff, but resisted the urge under the heavy atmosphere his roommate was leaking, opting instead for a ques
