A Difficult Journey To Get An Explanation

The security system had detected a signal, and after checked, it was identified as a G4 vehicle engaged in pursuit.

"We request permission to re-enter the city environment!" Dohn exclaimed to the security monitor.

The security monitor members were immediately confused. They noticed the combat vehicle seemed to have suffered damage, with dents on the top.

Arriving in the city area, they headed straight to the G4 headquarters. On the city streets, some people took notice of the vehicle, even able to see the gloomy faces of its passengers.

Upon reaching the headquarters, some other members were already awaiting their arrival. They were greeted by Lara and Leyana.

All the members got out of the vehicle, but they didn't seem enthusiastic. Some realized the members present were incomplete.

"Where's Leader Zeigar?" Leyana asked, her tone filled with hope.

They couldn't provide the answer she hoped for; their eyes remained downcast.

Leyana's face turned pale instantly. Without being told, she understood this was a bad sign. If Zeigar were present, he would have explained directly. But, for members inexperienced in such matters, it was not an easy situation.

"Why are you all silent? Answer me, where is Leader Zeigar?" Leyana asked again, trying to grasp understanding from the four individuals.

However, their faces still showed reluctance. After a moment, Ham raised his gaze, struggling to continue speaking.

Ham persisted in answering, "Leader Zeigar sacrificed himself to ensure our safety..."

Lara and Leyana's eyebrows raised. Leyana in particular, felt like she had just heard an unfunny joke.

Lara made a swift decision, "We'll discuss this later. For now, let's go inside."

She quickly understood the situation; the four of them were exhausted. Moreover, this could provoke the other members present and lead to complicated problems.

At a different time, right after facing a terrifying monster, Zeigar collapsed. Unaware, behind him was a lizard-like monster the size of a crocodile, sinking its teeth into his shoulder.

The creature was powerful; Zeigar tried to stand and free himself from its bite, but the monster's grip was strong.

"Let go of me..." In this dire situation, he saw another monster behind him, the creature growling angrily, its sword-like tail still sharp.

"Damn, why do I have to face monsters like this here!" Zeigar muttered, his hope for survival dwindling. Suddenly, his vision blurred; the monster in front of him began to look unclear.

Tap! Tap! Tap...

His eyes widened faintly as a centaur-like monster approached and launched an attack, landing on Zeigar's body. Blood gushed, and he was thrown against a tree, the monster on his back now lifeless from the attack.

"Argh, damn, I can't feel my legs..." If he could, he'd want to stand and run, but he couldn't. Zeigar could only watch as the silhouette of the monster grew closer. The sound of its footsteps was loud, but Zeigar didn't tremble; the pain overshadowed his fear.

He replaced all these moments with a bitter smile.

"It seems today will be where my journey ends. I hoped for time to save humanity, but I didn't expect it to turn out like this..."

The monster lifted Zeigar's helpless body, then slammed it to the ground repeatedly.

Interestingly, Zeigar's dim eyes still didn't shut fully; he believed it was thanks to the venom that clouded his vision, keeping his body alert.

Crash...

"Argh...." But, that didn't mean it was all over. Not long after, the monster's sharp teeth tore into Zeigar's abdomen.

The crisp sound of flesh and organs being torn apart could be heard clearly, but unfortunately, he couldn't do anything. He let it happen, part of a life he was already tired of living. He didn't want to complain too much about the situation.

"I leave the rest to you..."

Crash...

Everyone began to lower their heads; they had just told what had happened. How Nelia was killed and Zeigar fought to protect all of them from this disaster.

Leyana couldn't believe what she was hearing, but her heart admitted that Zeigar was currently fighting alone in the wilderness.

She held her head in her hands, then stood up straight. "We have to save Leader; he must be in trouble right now."

Everyone's gaze was fixed on Leyana, who declared this with determination, but her comrades seemed lacking in enthusiasm.

"Why? Don't you want to save Leader Zeigar? He protected us; without him, we wouldn't be able to do anything. We should save him before it's too late!"

Lara stood up firmly. "That's impossible," she said seriously.

"What are you saying, Lara? We can't leave Leader in such a dangerous environment..."

Shaking her head, Lara turned her face to the side. "The situation is already dire. Haven't you realized that we have to protect the southern district, and if we want to leave, we have to request approval from headquarters first..."

"But if we leave him, then..."

Lara approached, her hand touching Leyana's trembling shoulder.

"I'm sorry, but we still have to obey what's been commanded. We can't ignore this. Please understand; I know you'll understand the situation."

No one uttered another word. They all felt similarly to Leyana; a respected senior and leader was in the wild.

Tap...

The room became even quieter as this announcement was made. They all turned to the woman who was Hinz's secretary.

"I want to inform the members who pursued the monster to report to the commander's room immediately!"

Without saying anything, when words like these were spoken, Ham, Zom, Rega, and Dohn immediately rushed out.

It was their responsibility to follow Zeigar's orders, and if the commander called, important matters had to be attended to.

No one knew what would happen next.

Lara as the vice-leader, was also called into Hinz's room. After arriving, they all stood at attention, although the three of them kept their heads bowed in despair.

Hinz looked at each face; only Lara seemed strong and unaffected by the situation.

"I've heard about Zeigar's situation, and I want to hear directly how this happened."

Dohn, Zom, Rega, and Ham swallowed nervously. They couldn't even bring themselves to look at Hinz's face.

"Allow me to explain how this situation came about..." Lara stepped forward, her voice resolute.
