Chapter 8. PARTNERSHIP

Everyone, there was surprised to hear what he had to say. They had been waiting for the arrival of the CEO of the Marcos family company for a long time. Especially, Roselyn, she looked for him everywhere but didn't find him at all. Especially with everyone wearing masks, and she also didn't know what the CEO looked like. But he appeared suddenly and saved her. Right in front of her eyes.

Tradlor chuckled. "You think I believe what you're saying?"

"Why not?"

"You're wearing a mask! You could be pretending right now and lying to all of us."

"I'm not lying," he insisted, "I'm the son of the Marcos family. I am the CEO."

Tradlor's laughter grew louder along with his mockery. "I am also a son of the Marcos family! I'm a CEO!" he exclaimed. "Everyone can make claims."

He chuckled in annoyance. "Is this your nature? So pathetic...."

"Look, I don't believe you, and don't be a jerk!"

"Robert!" he shouted. And he came over to Edward.

"Yes, Young Master?" He bowed his head in salute to Edward. And everyone there widened their eyes in surprise, including Tradlor.

"Take him out of this party. I don't want to see his face here," Edward insisted.

Tradlor's face paled. He screamed, loudly, as he was forcibly dragged away by the guards. And that proved that he was the real CEO.

Roselyn thanked him once again and she was grateful that he had helped her. But she had been feeling uneasy because his voice was so similar to Edward's.

She shook her head. There was no way that Edward was from the Marcos family. Obviously, it was impossible because they were two different people. This man was from a rich family and Edward was from a poor family. He couldn't even afford the hospital fees, let alone a party this lavish.

He was the heir to the Marcos family throne that Edward was talking about. And this was the only chance for him to talk about cooperation.

"Uh, sorry, but do you have time to talk to me?" asked Roselyn. “There are a few things I want to talk to you about. I've been looking for you since earlier."

"Oh, you were looking for me? I didn't know that. Sorry. I just arrived and greeted the guests. And happened to see you being harassed by that guy," he said.

That's right. Their voices were the same. But this one was more authoritative and gentle.

Roselyn shook her head. "No, it's fine."

"So, what did you want to talk to me about? Want to go somewhere more comfortable...."

"No, we can talk here," Roselyn said quickly. She was still afraid that what happened to her earlier would happen again. It was safer to talk in a place where there were many people like now.

"Alright. I'm listening."

Roselyn took a deep breath before speaking. "It's about cooperation. I heard that your company is looking for a construction company. And I happen to own a construction company and am interested in cooperating with your company."

"Oh. Yes, I am indeed looking for one!"

Roselyn smiled widely. "Is there still a chance for me to get that cooperation? Because I really want to get it because it will help my company get through its crisis."

Just then, her cousin came in her beautiful dress, looking beautiful and hot. All eyes were on her. And one of the guests talked about her beauty and intelligence.

"If it's about intelligence, I think she's much smarter and deserves the deal."

"Yes, it wouldn't be fair if you just gave the deal to her. It's better to give it to her cousin since she's much more talented."

"Right. If you give the deal to Roselyn, you'll end up losing instead of gaining."

Everyone was more likely to defend Roselyn's cousin than her. And Roselyn felt cornered, but she was not afraid of her cousin.

Roselyn’s cousin grinned in satisfaction at how people were more interested in her and not Roselyn. She walked with her beautiful body toward Edward.

"What they say is true. You better give the deal to me. I am sure you will not regret it," Roselyn's cousin said. She looked at Edward with a seductive gaze. Making Edward shudder in horror at her annoying attitude.

Roselyn made an annoyed face. Moreover, she was pushed by her cousin intentionally so that now she was standing behind her cousin. But she hurriedly nudged her cousin's shoulder and they stood side by side.

Cousin Roselyn gave her a sharp glance. "You wouldn't give the deal to her, would you? She has no experience in the business world. And I'm not sure she can do her job well. She's just a spoiled woman."

"I'm not a spoiled woman and I know what my capacity is. I wouldn't have come here asking for cooperation if I didn't know how good I am at my job," Roselyn said. But her cousin snorted in annoyance. She mocked her.

"Even taking care of your husband is incompetent. Let alone taking care of a company," she taunted.

Roselyn clenched her hands into fists. She felt offended by her cousin's words. Where did she come from and destroy the opportunity she had been waiting for? And everything was ruined just because of her arrival.

Roselyn looked at Edward who was silent. She couldn't read his thoughts from his face because he was wearing a mask. And he looked very mysterious.

"Sir, you're not going to give him the cooperation, are you? I asked you first," said Roselyn not to be outdone.

"Hey!" snapped Roselyn's cousin. She wasn't having it and she wasn't about to lose to him either. She would do anything to get her cooperation, even by devious means!

"Enough," said Edward, breaking up the two. "I will not give this partnership easily to either of you. But in exchange. I want you to prepare a proposal for me to see who deserves this partnership!"
