Chapter 8

The feud between KK co-operation, the company that controlled almost ten percent of the city's wealth, and Linda's company, widely known as the Heretics to most people in the city, was known to most people in the city.

The KK has always hated the Heretics, fighting with them since anyone could remember the city was even built.

But their fight has always been business wars until recently. The current head of the KK was known for his ruthless nature, pulling anyone from his path to achieve his aims, no matter who and how many persons got hurt in the process.

And with Linda now the heiress of the Heretics family, his hatred has only grown into full-blown rage.

One that even Linda was having failed attempts trying to escape from. Unless there was a heavenly intervention for her, her end was going to be tragic.

"The highest bidder gets the land and the contract company construction too!" Jim who was already browsing through the web noted.

With the information that he had gotten about the dispute, he turned to Lilly who was already sleeping soundly.

He took her off from the chair, placing her on his shoulders. After which he got some package meal from the counter and set off to the place that he knew best in the country of the Seahawks.

The most peaceful neighborhood where he met with the sweetest souls right after the death of his grandfather who had raised him.

Fred and Bella would always help him raise money when he had issues at school that weren't covered by the scholarship.

Though they weren't even related, they treated him like their own, sharing everything that they had gotten from the streets among themselves.

With a smile on his face, Jim dropped off Lilly, assuring them that he was going to come for her later.

"You're leaving already Jimmy?" Inquired Bella with a solid motherly frown to her face.

"You just came over after such a long time called forever And you are just going to zoom past? Like time? For another, only the good Lord knows when?" Her brows arched in the most accusing manner.

"And all this food. They are from a high-end restaurant, right? Cause I know very well what and where you eat.

Tell me right now, where did you get them from? Have you robbed a bank? Oh my God Jim. What sort of trouble here you are in now!"

Jim was almost drowned by her interrogation, hitting him left and right But if he wanted to race with the ending of the bide, he knew that he had to be out of there right that instance.

"I don't have time to give you all the details Bella. I have a business to catch up with.

I promise I'm going to explain everything to you once I am back Bella! And I can assure you, I did not rob a bank! I robbed something bigger!"

"Jim!" She yelled but he was already gone.

Taking a cab, he got to the house that had been owed by the owner of the property that was going to be sold and he was also the bidder.

He attempted to walk past the gates after an acknowledging knock but he was suddenly stopped by a baton that was crossed over the entrance for people.

"Didn't you read the sign? No beggars allowed!" He pointed up to a crudely written sign that had most likely been written by him.

Jim straightened up with a calm look on his face and he replied softly, the tone of his voice dignified.

"I'm not a bagger! I'm here for the bid!"

"Oh, the bid?" The guard faked a widened eyes.

"Why don't you also tell me that you are here to take the wife of Mr. Lawson and his house too? What did I leave out!" He replied, and they all burst out into laughter.

"I might be a guard and dressed like one, but take the both of us to an interview, I'm getting more points!" His mockery lodged at Jim who maintained a calm posture.

"Work ethics! Professionalism even to the poorest stranger! I did my research on Mr. Lawson who is keen on these things.

So I'm going to ask you, did you cheat your way here?"

The guard had thrown away the automatic sense of professionalism that he had left seeing how he was dressed.

His face burned with anger as his colleagues, half a dozen of them, placed their hands over their mouths to control their laughter.

It struck the heart of the guard like a hot rod, hitting the delicate part of his soul because those exact words were true.

But as one of the people who were close to Mr. Lawson, nobody had dared to smash those words right on his face.

The guard growled, his face faced with the anger that coursed through his body.

"How dare you!"

"You hurt me, I hurt you. That means we are even! Now I need to see Mr. Lawson!" Jim repeated his world.

"Maybe you can stroll to your grave and wait for him in death!" The guard replied.

The others didn't dare to speak. Their eyes interlocked into each other with rage at this instant.

Jim knew that he was the head of that place so there was barely anything that could be done about it.

He took a very deep breath.

Straightening up, he turned around towards all of them. There was only one way that he could get into the place at the moment.

He knew what the guard wanted. He had read numerous stories about him. Of how he collected huge amounts of money from people who only wanted to see Mr. Lawson.

Yet his boss would do nothing about it.

Jim scoffed. Instead of giving him such a large amount of money as a bribe, he would rather throw it off into the street.

He stared at the rest and there was only one way that he could get the guard out of the way.

He drew a really deep breath before he muttered in an instant to the rest of them that were standing.

Fortunately, he had decided to withdraw a few thousand dollars from the ATM in case he needed some cash and this was just the perfect need for it.

Throwing a few dollar notes to the floor, he muttered.

"Get him off my way and the money is yours!" The men stared at the notes before staring back at the head guard.

Their eyes locked with greed while he kept on staring at them.

"Just a few dollars as a bribe? You are even more pathetic than I thought."

But that was only the tip of the iceberg. Jim didn't say anything further. Throwing over a buddle to the floor at the moment.

They almost broke at the sight, their eyes shooting out from its sockets, and their hands quickly reached out for the money.

"Take him out and I could double that!" Said Jim.

With their eyes sparkling with greed, they lurked at the head guard, walking hungrily towards him like some drooling zombie, while his heart pounded in his ears.

His face was covered with sweat as he gradually stepped, in his steps.

"You can't do that! You just can't!" He said with a quivering voice but he knew, those words all fell on deaf ears.
