Chapter 9

"Don't worry sir. We will get him off from the way even before you realize that he was there" The people who had once treated him like he was some sort of trash now revered him, showering him with so much respect at the sight of the cash.

"You know what Mr. Lawson is going to do if he finds out about what's happening here right?" Jude continued to shrink backward his steps and the earth shuddered right under his feet from his fright.

However, his words compared to the amount of money that they were going to get from this were going to do nothing to stop them.

They launched at him, some by his arms and others by his legs, beating him up thoroughly.

He yelled but no one was going to help him now.

He stared at Jim with the fright of a little child causing him to tremble. So weak that he could not even bear too little pain.

"Please forgive me! I promise that I'm not going to tell you! Or do anything stupid. You can see him now!" The guard easily checked out while Jim still kept his face high up.

"So you are the one that's pleading now. What a reversal of fortune. However, the choice isn't for you to make now!

I'm going to go in a way with or without your permission!"

"I wish that you had gone down the normal lane. It would have been way easier for both of us."

"What do we do with him now sir?" One of the guards was about to ask when the door flew open, introducing a middle-aged man with a fine coat and a calm look on his face.

Until his eyes laid on the scene and this calmness was suddenly replaced by a cold blaze.

The guards suddenly lost their courage, their legs wobbling like jelly as they stared at the raging eyes of Mr. Lawson.

"Was the money worth all of this?" They thought.

Mr. Lawson though kind was not forgiving to those that offended him. Their hearts drummed knowing that they were in trouble and they all crashed to their feet.

"We are sorry! Mr. Lawson... It was a momentary lapse. We didn't know what had gotten over us!" They begged, still shivering with fear like babies that had just seen a ghost.

But their apologies only made the face of Mr. Lawson tightened, casting fine lines all over his face as he shot deadly glares at them

"Do I have hearing issues that I can't even make out what I said?" His growls filled the air, causing large goosebumps all over their skin as they quivered.

"Please forgive us!" They continue leading.

The head guard staggered to stand, his face was now laced with a smile. Assuming that he was going to get the proper justice that he deserved. The timely entrance of Mr. Lawson was going to get him this.

His stare interlocked with that of Jim, the grin on his face growing larger on his face and almost reaching to his ears as he pointed out at Jim.

"He... Masters Lawson! He is the cause of all this. And look at what he did to me when I was only trying to protect you!" As he spoke, he revealed all the marks and bruises that littered his body from the beating that he had received.

"I even tried to reason with him but he refused to listen to any sort of reason!"

Their eyes widened at his lies and their hands clenched. But with the sweat of fright that was trekking down their faces, they could barely make out words as they shivered.

"Is that so?" Mr. Lawson inquired.

"Yes!" The guard smiled.

A smile dominated his face, watching Mr. Lawson make for Jim who stood straight.

Even with the pain that was still coursing through his body at the moment, he knew that he was going to get the justice that he deserved.

Maybe Jim wasn't even going to survive after this moment. He could imagine the van of army men strolling over to take Jim off to the correctional facility to break him up.

The sight was going to be the most satisfying thing that he had seen in years.

"I'm very sorry for my worker's lack of professionalism!" Said Mr. Lawson with a subtle smile.

The words sent waves of shivers rolling down their spine in an instant, a clean slate through the heart of the guard.

He could not believe the words that he just heard. Mr. Lawson was supposed to be in his favor. Why was he... What could Jim have done to him?

"Mr. Lawson... I think you have made a mistake! He is the one that caused all the trouble here! And the only thing that I was doing all along was trying to protect you and you imagine!" He desperately established his explanation once again, giving off a pitiful aura so that Mr. Lawson was going to buy his story.

"Yes! I made a mistake Jude! And that mistake has been refusing to sack you after all the complaints that have been coming from you lately!" Jude was frozen, his eyes were bloodshot in an instant.

"Did it ever cross your mind the reason that I even came down to this place?

Because I have been on the CCTV camera. If not I would not have noticed how you decided to throw your professionalism off the streets!" He growled, his rage bursting through the hair, and squeezing into the heart of Jude like a metallic hand.

He knew that he was doomed.

In times past, he would always behave like he was the greatest saint to Mr. Lawson who had taken him off from the street.

While to the rest of the world, he was corrupt. Keeping his acts so tight that he never thought that a moment would come when he would be caught.

Another brain-shaking quiver ran through his body.

"I... I was only trying to help in the little way that I could Mr. Lawson.

He was dressed like some beggar and beggars should never be entertained!"

"Oh! Is that so? And the previous videos that I decided to watch too? And the news that's also blowing up on the web pertaining to your callus attitude?" Lawson's eyes were arched in an accusing manner.

The defense that had been brewing in Jude's throat ran dry, knowing that he had been caught.

"Do I even need to remind you that I was once on the street and the same as you? Before I brought you into my home?" He glared.

"Mr.."

"Enough! I won't entertain another word from you!

Guild!?" His eyes were replaced by another guard who was standing close to Jom

"Yes, Mr. Lawson!" He bowed.

"You take over the new position! I hope that you do a better job. And Mr. Jude! Good luck finding a new job!"

After his outburst, Jude didn't dare to speak. After his relationship with Mr. Lawson had run for a while now, he knew better than to argue with his preposition.

"Come with me!" Lawson instructed Jim right afterward, almost not sparing him a glance.

Jim followed him closely from behind until Mr. Lawson turned abruptly with furrowed brows, lashing a death stare at Lawson.

"I hope that you have a good reason to cause trouble here today!" His words ran deep through Jim's chest.
