Elijah delivered a trashing of a lifetime to Mr. John, patterning Mr. John’s face with repeated successive punches from his fist until the club management came to intervene. Nobody was able to overpower Elijah. By the time he let go, Mr. John had already passed out. He has been knocked out cold.Elijah carried Haylee in his hands and took her home in a taxi. “How could you be so foolish? I am the foolish one, not you.” Elijah muttered in the taxi with tears welling up in his eyes, while Haylee remained unconscious. “Why did you have to drink so much?” Dinner was just about to commence when Elijah walked in carrying Haylee in his hands. Dorothy paused dinner and zoomed in to meet Elijah by the door. Her eyes blazed with fury thinking Elijah had done something to her daughter, “What have you done to her, you fool?” she yelled at Elijah and he flinched, only to conceal his secret. “What have you done to my daughter? My Haylee.”She wept, rubbing Haylee’s hair. “She and that foolish husb
Haylee’s head ached like a heavy rod had been smashed on her head a million times over as she opened her eyes. She looked to her side but could not find Elijah, but heard noisy yells from downstairs in the living room. Her mother’s voice was the predominant voice she could picture in her head, and at that moment she realized where Elijah could be. Her mother only had one person to yell at in the Greene mansion – Elijah the fool. She sprung up from her bed, still in her meeting dress, zoomed downstairs to know what is happening with Elijah again. Every eye glued on her when she reached the living room, she could not imagine what made them stare at her, but she could see Elijah standing alone while her mother picked on him in the presence of everybody seated, including Phil, Haylee’s third cousin who was not actively involved in the family’s business. She saw Daniel’s face blazing with fury, as he hung up a phone call. “I knew you have always been a mistake,” Dorothy yelled at Elijah,
“Officers, what brings you here?” Phil asked, as went over to meet the policemen.Elijah knew exactly why they were here, he was aware of the status of Mr. John, and for a useless imbecile like him, he knew there would be consequences. The police officers, showed Phil an arrest warrant and said, “We are here for Elijah.” Nobody was sure of what his last name was, including the man who brought him into the Greene mansion, Late Mr. Greene. When he lost his memory, he could only remember his first name, as he lost his identity. They only knew him as Elijah, and he chose to keep it that way when recovered his memory. There is only one West family in all of Georgia, telling them his full name means revealing who he is. “He just cannot seem to stay out of trouble, gosh,” Tory mumbled beneath her breath, where she was seated.Haylee stood in front of Elijah to protect, however, to Elijah it was useless. “At least tell us what he did wrong,” Phil said, trailing behind the officers
Haylee stared at her husband, unsure of what to say or do. She rubbed her palms together and sighed. “I-I didn’t mean to do it, I did not mean to hit him that hard,” Elijah said, breaking the silence. “Enough, Elijah. Enough.” Haylee silenced him her face bore an expression that made Elijah uncomfortable. “Tell me, why? Why did you do such a thing? Why would you want to ruin everything for me and my family? Why do you always make everything difficult for me?”Elijah raised a brow, unexpecting what words Haylee spewed. He was unsure of what to say, remaining mute. “Say something!” Haylee yelled at him, with her voice starting to break where she sat. “Grandfather made a deep mistake bringing you into our home, but he made an even worse mistake getting you married to me. I have never had a single day of peace for the past three years since I got married to you, my family turned on me. I lost my position in my grandfather’s inheritance and I am on the verge of losing everything complete
‘I should have told her about myself. I should have let her know who I am, who am I kidding?' Elijah’s thoughts flew around like scattered birds in the sky.He clenched his fists and slammed them on the table, it reddened as his fist hardened. He imagined holding Mr. John again and hitting him as hard as possible. He rested his head on the table and sighed. “Foolish Elijah,” he muttered and screamed furiously. “I implore you to calm down, Sir.”Elijah’s ears tingled, hearing a familiar voice in his holding cell. He raised his head to see Bishop Leo walking through the door. His face lit up with a smile. “How did you know I am here?” Elijah asked, as his forehead creased. He squinted his eyes glaring at Bishop Leo. He wondered how his arrest reached Bishop Leo, given that he was denied access to phone calls. “You’re everywhere,” Bishop Leo said, placing his phone before Elijah. Videos of how he trashed Mr. John played on the screen. “I was devastated when I
Mr. John crossed his legs on Mrs. Greene’s office couch, with a bandage wound around his face. A momentary silence enveloped the room, with Daniel standing behind Mrs. Greene like his bodyguard. “I am sorry for this,” Daniel said, trying to look away from Mr. John’s devastating face, but sheer curiosity would not allow him to. “That fool will pay, I promise you. But can you please drop the charges against him?”Daniel could not believe those words could proceed from his mouth, as he forced them out. His gut turned inside out. “And why should I?” Mr. John asked with an elfish grin. His smile stretched from one side of his face to the other and then relegated to a cold, harsh expression. “Look at me!” he yelled, pointing to the bandage around his head. He clenched his teeth like a shark holding a firm grip on its food. “Just look at me. Why should I let him go?” Daniel swallowed his breath, taking a glance at Old Mrs. Greene who stared into bare space. Her calmness made
Haylee fell to her knees with her face down, she saw it as a means of redemption for herself. “Grandmother, I---” “There is no room for negotiation, Haylee,” Daniel said, cutting her halfway in her speech. “The deal has been made already and there can be no further discussions aside this.”Haylee rolled her eyes in disapproval of Daniel’s unruly interference. “I will do whatever makes you happy, grandmother,” Haylee said, with no trace of emotion in her voice, which made Daniel and Mr. John really doubt if she had any ulterior motive behind her words. “You will?” Daniel inquired, looking surprised as well as disbelieving. “I don’t believe you.”Haylee kept her head bowed before Mrs. Greene without replying Daniel and his taunts. Mrs. Greene adjusted her glasses with a laser focused attention on Haylee. “Alright, Haylee,” Mrs. Greene finally responded, “don’t do anything irrational this time around.”Mr. John chuckled, “of course she won’t. I’m not letting my guard dow
“Hey, you can leave now.”The voice of the police officer echoed in Elijah’s head. “Free? How can I be free?” He thought to himself. At first, he thought Bishop Leo had gone against his order and pulled strings for him amid the higher-ups, given his family’s influence. But he canceled the thought, realizing that such a thing would be impossible without Bishop Leo having to reveal his identity. Judging from the police officer’s harsh treatment, his secret was still safe, because no one heard the West’s name and did not tremble. However, it still disturbed him that he was free. Could the Greene family have cared about him that much? As he got out of the station, he squinted his eyes at the headlight that nearly blinded his eyes, at the opposite end of the he identified Bishop Leo’s Mustang. “Congratulations, young master,” Bishop Leo said, as Elijah settled into the car. Elijah groaned, holding his head. “How did you know I have been released?” he asked with a grunt lacin
