Beginning of the Invasion

 Part 1B

Emika’s point of view

This was the worst nightmare I have been seeing, and I really wished it was just a nightmare, but it was not; it was a reality, a fact in front of my eyes. The thing I was referring to as a portal was forming in the same location I have been seeing it in my dreams, or, to say it correctly, my nightmares. And the reason I am referring to it as a portal is because I knew it was, because I saw it with my own closed eyes at that time, the monsters coming out of it, which indicates that it was a portal of some kind. I have been afraid my dreams would come true, and I didn’t wish for it, but somehow I had the feeling that whatever I saw would happen, but I hoped it would be in a different day and time; a time when I was better prepared for it and was able to take some kind of countermeasure for it.

I have no idea what kind of countermeasure I could have been able to take. But anything is better than being taken by surprise when you least expect it. Expecting the thing, and that thing happening is two different things. That was why I simply froze and lost all kind of reasonable thinking for a moment. I knew that my assistant was talking to me and saying something. But the fact was, I was only hearing some kind of voice and sound; that was all; nothing else; everything else was just blank in my mind. The only thing was the black circle in front of me. Yes, it was outside of the city by a few kilometers, almost one and a half miles, which is far enough from the city, but because there was nothing in the surrounding area, just a plain grass field, there were no obstacles to the vision to see it clearly. Yes, it's close, but not so close that we can't do anything about it. I came back for the shock statues that I was in when I felt a touch on my shoulder. When I turned, I saw almost half a dozen people around me. I had no idea when all that many people came in the room. I wonder if I was that absentminded to the extent that I didn't feel all those people coming in.

My father was the one who touched my shoulder, and he was actually the one I noticed the least, since he was practically standing next to me and I didn’t see him at all. My assistant was behind me and was the first one to speak when she saw me looking at her and said, “Emika, what is going on?” The anxiety was manifesting on her face and that of everyone else around her. I turned once more to the scene. The lighting reduced but was still there, and the size of the circle grew bigger. It looked like there was liquid in the middle of it a black, thick liquid. That was all I could think of from the distance; it was hard to say exactly what it was or how it looked, but there was no doubt it was exactly the same thing I had seen in my dreams. I still feel how terrifying it was, and the same feeling has taken me over now and is still lingering in my whole body. I had no answer to give it to her, so I did the only thing that I could do, and I kept quiet and looked straight; no one else said anything, and we all kept watching for a few minutes more.

Why am I watching this like I don't? I don’t know what is coming, I suddenly told myself. I acutely know what it is, and I know what is going to come out of it. Among all the people around me who are mostly in command of departments or others, none of them were in the same state of shock as me; none of them ever saw something like this or had any idea how to deal with it. That was the reason that everyone gathered here with me. My father was somehow aware of my dreams and that they were connected to the boy Aden; although I didn’t give him in clear detail what I saw, he had an idea. Also, Ayuma, who is my assistant, knew about my nightmares; although she acts as an assistant to me, she is a close friend of mine, and since I am the head of the security, it’s my obligation to act and do something and take care of the situation. Fortunately, both of them kept quiet and didn’t say anything, or else it would have aroused suspicion with others since I kept what I saw to myself and didn’t share it with the council.

But now is not the time for watching; I have to take some actions and as soon as possible also, so after looking at my father for a few seconds, we didn’t say anything to each other, but each of us understood what the other was thinking about. I nodded to him like I was confirming a question that he didn’t ask; there was no need to ask; actually, it was obvious in his eyes that he was asking me: Was this what I was talking about? Then I confirmed to him by nodding, and I decided to take action since he is aware of the situation; there was no need for other conversations at the moment. Then I looked at the others and said, “Now listen everybody, and please coordinate between each and every departments; we are facing an unknown danger, so the only thing we can do at the moment is to prepare for whatever that is coming. ”I paused for a second, and then continued, “I am declaring a state of emergency, first capital-wise, and then we will implement it for the rest of the country." At that point in time, everybody started talking at the same time. Of course, this is the first time we had to go that far to declare a state of emergency; that has never happened before in the history of this country for any reason. So for me to declare that was something unbelievable to everybody here and everyone else to hear about it also, the second thing only the sovereign of this country can announce and declare that. Yes, I am the head of state security. I have my privileges, but they don’t reach that extent.

A voice that is not that loud and that soft at the same time was heard, which made everybody silent at once. “Everyone, just listen to the end; I did authorize Emika to take this extreme measure, and it has been with my consent.” Only those few words made everyone quite down and stop talking once, simply because nobody can object to what he said since he is the supreme leader of the country and its sovereign, his Excellency King TekKashi, who is at the same time Emika’s father. Although this country, Angariya is ruled by a system similar to the democratic system on earth, it's still much different than the normal democracy we know on earth. Although it’s a kingdom and a monarchy system, they still follow a supreme council that debates and decides on every policy or matter of the ruling of that big country. Still, the final word belongs to the Chairman of the Council, who is at the same time the ruler of the country. And this was one of his rights—that he could pass it over to his daughter.

Of course not whenever or whatever he likes. But in this case he believed in his daughter, not just because she is his daughter but in this case, he believed in his daughter, not just because she is his daughter but she is a capable leader, and she is good at her job, although he dismissed what she told him about the dreams that she sees and the boy, but not completely he was aware that always in every situation more than what meet the eyes, and always there is fire behind the smoke, that was why he agreed to give her the authority to do whatever she sees fit top handle the situation, after they exchange a little eye contact and he saw how frightened she was although she acted and appeared differently but a father always knows what his child feels and can read their expression more anybody else.

After those few words, King Tekkashi didn’t say anything else, and then everyone looked once again at Emika; within those few seconds, she already had come up with a plan of action: “First thing is first, Ayuma, close the gate of the city, and send two regiments to the gate; contact the mayor immediately and tell him to implement curfew starting at six this evening for safety reasons to be announced now, and that will go on until further notice, any issues come out of the will deal with." Then she looked at a man among the people who were standing there, who was the minister of homeland affairs, and said, “Minster Kimlan, please assist Ayuma with this, and all coordination will be through you and me.” She paused for a second and said, ”We need to mobilize the military, but I don’t see General Sougal; we need to hold an emergency meeting with the council now; we need to gather in the main council meeting room within an hour; that is all for now." She didn’t wait for a response from anybody and looked to the young man who was standing a couple feet away from her father, the captain of the royal guard, Captain Birman. Along with being the captain of the royal guard and the head security of his Excellency the King, the royal guard was a different establishment than the army, the National Guard, or the law enforcement force that goes directly under Emika. Although they do similar policing jobs as the law enforcement agency, their job doesn’t exceed that of the ruling palace and some of the government buildings, like the Migan Tower they are in now.

The orders continued, and at the same time the electric lightning increased on the location, although the sky and the rest of the area were totally clear, and she had to stop speaking and watch what was going on more time.
