A werewolf could become an Alpha in exactly three ways; By killing another Alpha and taking his power, the descendance of an Alpha who willingly gives his power to another werewolf, OR by achieving a rare level of supernatural upliftment and becoming an Alpha on your own; a true Alpha.

Cornelius Primo was meant to become the Alpha of the Mudders after his father stepped down which wasn't supposed to be for another fifty years. He was overly ambitious and power hungry so he killed his father with his own hands and became the Alpha. But, his ambitions didn't stop there. He wanted more power, more territory and more werewolves so, he had his betas turn more humans into wolves and added them to his army. When he had enough werewolves, he began his war against the other packs. One after the other, he killed other Alphas who refused to pledge allegiance to him, taking their strength and power and controlling their packs, the ones that survive at least.
