Waking up

Soon, before the disgusting cockroaches coming out of the black figure's mouth took over Sam's mouth, Sam woke up.

Upon waking up, Sam realized that everything, nothing more, had been a damn nightmare caused by his sleepless nights.

When he opened his eyes, Sam saw that everything around him was being illuminated by the sun's rays. It was obvious that it was already past eight in the morning because the sun's rays at that moment were very powerful, it was very hot, there was no cold wind at all by the time it was after five in the morning.

Sam sat on the bed, thanking God that, finally, his body had been able to move without any difficulty, he was feeling light, without heaviness, nor feeling like a pair of strong, invisible ropes tied his arms and legs so that it wouldn't move.

Likewise, the invisible tape that has prevented him from speaking in the midst of his terrifying nightmares also disappeared.

“God, thank you, it was just a damn nightmare, maybe, I should think about looking for another job, the sleepless nights, it's making me quite nervous already, and even more so because I work in a damn cemetery,” Sam said to himself, at the same time that he stood up from the bed to start his day of rest.

That was his day of rest, Sam lived in a small town located in southern California, he had his own motorcycle, and he had decided to go visit his aunt, his mother's sister, the only woman alive in what was left of His family, well his family, had been very small, he had not known his grandparents, neither on his father's side, nor on his mother's side, since his father had abandoned him by the time he was five years old old.

One day, he simply told his mother that he was going to live in another country, without mentioning where, all with the excuse that he was only going to work, promising her and his son that month after month he would send money and that they would, I was going to report to them whenever I could.

However, from that moment on, neither Sam nor his mother heard anything more from his father, nor did they even receive their monthly payment month by month as the man had promised them to do.

Therefore, Sam and her mother always had the support of her aunt, they went to live near her so as not to feel so alone in the world, and they did their best to get ahead as best they could.

When her mother died from a terrible pneumonia that consumed what was left of her, Sam became closer to her aunt, and whenever he needed her, he knew that he could come visit her in the days rest from her.

Furthermore, Sam's aunt was hiding a secret that only he and his mother knew, and that is that his aunt's secret was going to be the only thing that could help Sam with what he experienced the night before.

Sam took a shower, changed his clothes, and once he came out of the bathroom, he didn't think about eating at home. He had just received his monthly payment for the month, therefore, he had already paid all his debts, and had enough money left for him, so he thought about having breakfast at a nearby bakery that was on his route to his aunt's house, he would buy his aunt her favorite chocolate bread to serve with coffee, and he would talk to her about everything that happened without being afraid or ashamed that she might make fun of him, because Sam knew that his aunt would understand everything perfectly without seeing him as a weirdo.

Sam left his house, he went on a motorcycle, it was a short trip on the way to his aunt's house, it was only an hour away and an hour back, yes, he had to ride on the road, but he didn't He didn't care at all because this trip was going to serve as a great distraction for him.

“Good morning, how can I help you?” a girl asked Sam as he parked and walked into the bakery he found near his house when he came out.

The girl was staring at Sam from behind the bakery counter.

The place was empty, except for Sam and the girls who were taking care of the place, there were only three of them, one was at the register, the other was at the counter, and the last one was cleaning the tables.

“Good morning, if you would like to please bring a chocolate bread,” Sam answered, he had been staring blankly all that time at the breads on the counter in front of him.

The girl noticed how distracted she was.

“Of course, what else would it be? Wouldn't you like to bring a couple of brownies that are fresh out of the oven for his girlfriend? They are delicious” the girl suggested to Sam, in turn, she packed the chocolate bread in a cardboard bag that she took out from the counter.

Sam stopped being distracted because the girl's comment left him very surprised.

What girlfriend was she talking about if he had gone to the place alone and there was no one else there with them?

"As? What girlfriend are you talking to me about? I came alone” Sam answered the girl, ignoring the rest she told him.

The girl, now, seems to be the one who has confused the situation, because she looked at Sam strangely, but she did not want to insist on the topic, rather, she decided to let him go.

“Do you want to bring anything else?” the girl told him, trying to change the conversation.

Sam shook his head, and took a twenty-dollar bill from inside her pocket to pay.
