Chapter 5
~~ Suicide Squad ~~The woods...The orange sun finally disappeared beneath the horizon as darkness fell almost immediately. The blue moon hung in the cloudless, star dotted sky, glistering in its illuminated ambience. A serene atmosphere reigned throughout Huntsville like a shower of snow flakes. The trees in the woods fluttered in rhythm to the cool flowing wind. The crickets made their presence known with their ululating chirps. The stony-grassy grounds rattled slightly as a Humvee, a police cruiser, and two bikes made their way through the woods, their headlights beaming brightly. Getting to a certain cleared location, the vehicles came to a halt almost simultaneously. Two policemen alighted the white and blue cruiser. They were clad in Huntsville's police uniforms; starched brown shirts, deep brown trousers and black boots. They both had walkie talkies attached to their shoulders.Since they parked behind the Humvee, they had to trot forward and meet up with the occupants. At an instant, the backdoors to the Humvee swung open and uniformed men trooped out with sophisticated guns in their hands. Their uniform was pure black, accompanied with black bullet proof vests and fingerless gloves. In color red, D.O.D.T was boldly inscribed on the left chest side of their vest. The men, five in number, took a turn and marched to the front of the big military vehicle, their steps brisk and uniform. And finally alighting the Humvee was a man with thick black hair and two scars on his neck and nose each. He was donned in the same uniform as the other five men. What distinguished him from them was a golden plate carved like a hawk with spread wings on his chest. He went by the codename, Scar, which wasn't too far fetched judging by his scars and also the fact that he's left his opponents - those who survived - with an eternal scar to never forget his face. The bike riders remained seated on their sleek dirt bikes. Their helmets and leather cladding matched in terms of color.Everyone out of their vehicles, the cops, the five agents and Scar, rallied up in front of the Humvee, which had its headlight beaming straight.“Thanks for agreeing to come,” one of the cops said with a decent nod.“Don't thank me, I'm only following direct orders,” Scar replied with an indifferent expression. His voice was thick and held authority. Once could literally feel pride steaming from the way he spoke. Both cops nodded.“Let's get to work then,” Scar said, turned and began walking towards the clearing. The cops were stunned and just stared. The agents were already used to this, they followed him briskly. At the epicenter of the clearing, were short charred logs of wood. They were as black as the night itself. The almost burnt up logs were surrounded by a sparse amount of black ash. Several parts of the soil were upheaved and red stains could be seen almost everywhere.“Those that packed the bodies sure made sure not to contaminate the scene,” one of the agents commented as he carefully made his way around the small area that smelt odd.One of the cops that tagged beside him stuck his tongue out in irritation, “Please don't remind me of what happened here. Watching that clip was taunting enough.”The agent looked at him with his brows arched down, “How the hell were you accepted to become a police officer? Scared of a little murder case?”“This wasn't murder, it was a massacre!” the cop clarified.Yeah, this was the spot were all those campers were slaughtered, decapitated and burnt. D.O.D.T had first sent some medical personnel to clear the bodies only, to make the job of the agents more fluid. After a minute or two, the agent that commented, spotted something bulged beneath the soil and he squatted. The irritated cop also crouched down and watched the agent dust sand off what appeared to be the forearm of a human being.”Oh-oh my God!” the cop panicked instantly, retching with his tongue stung out.The agent only shook his head to his whimsical behavior, “P*ssy”He lifted his head and tilted it till he found were Scar was standing, “Captain! I found something!!”“About damn time,” Scar twitched his lips, walking towards his subordinate. The others also moved closer when they heard what he said.On reaching him, Captain Scar crouched down and gave a long stare at the blood stained limb. The arm was from the fingers to the elbow. It had gashes and punctures around itself, bones sticking out. It was also missing the two last fingers.Still with an indifferent expressing, Scar peeled his Walkie talkie from his shoulder and placed it close to his mouth.“Captain Scar to Hq. Scar to Hq. Do you copy? Over,” he said.Screech!A short rustling fluctuation sang from the talkie before a voice came through, “We copy. Hawk Squad, what's your status? Over.”“We were scanning the perimeter when a detached limb was found...” Scar informed.“Heh... Seems the medics missed a spot,” the other cop behind Scar chipped in with a smile. His irritated partner smiled, but the Hawk Squad and their Captain shot him weird looks, his lips curved down and his smile faded.Scar sighed before continuing, “Multiple cuts and broken bones. Aside those, nothing else is absurd here. Over.”“How deep are the cuts?” the receiver asked.“Insanely deep...” Scar paused to turn the arm over to the other side. “It bored out of the other side. And the width of the cut mark could only have been done with something sharp and wide. Over.”“Like a Bear's claws?... Teeth?”“No, much wider,” Scar objected and stood up. “We'll continue scouting till we find a lead.”“Okay. We'll be expecting your report.”Screech! The communication ended with a loud screech. No. Scar could have sworn to hear another screech other than that from the walkie talkie.“Everyone stay were you are,” he commanded subtly and they obeyed, keeping mute also.He wanted to affirm whether what he heard was real or surreal. Well, his question was soon answered as another screech resonated from the deeper parts of the woods .Everyone remained silent and frozen.Screech!Another screech proceeded, with a deeper pitch this time. Then with time - a few seconds, the loud screeches turned to ominous growls as that of a hungry wild beast. The more the growls, the louder and closer it sounded. The agents still kept their cool, raising their sophisticated guns in anticipation.Thump! Thump! The two cops shuddered in fear of the unknown, their hearts beating like drums. The video they had watched had etched fear into their minds. But still, how... naive they were, bringing only one glock pistol each to a place like this.Exhaling and inhaling loudly, they held up their pistols towards the darkness sprawled before them, their hands fidgeting. Thanks to the headlights of the vehicles, they could see a little farther into the woods.Continuous rustling of leaves ensued, getting louder and louder by each passing second. Scar slowly drew his golden pistols from their hostlers as the tension rose fast. With a whoosh, leaves fluttered towards the men as a black blur sped by and disappeared.Scar frowned, “It's here. Do not let your guards down! I repeat, do not let your guards down!”Little had he given that warning, when a scream for help enveloped the area and they all turned in the direction it came from. Alas! One of the agents had mysteriously disappeared. Scar and the rest of the squad turned on the balls of their feet, gazing round and round for their lost comrade. The cops barely stood as their legs shook in freight.“Up there!” the driver of the Humvee yelled, he had the headlight on the roof tilted up at a tree.Instantly, they looked up and saw something contrast to the green leaves on the tree. They saw something red, it was hairy.Without waiting to confirm whatever the 'thing' was, they all opened fire sporadically, drilling the tree with their bullets. After a while, the shots seized and they looked up at the tree again, but the red thing had disappeared. Though they did see another red alright, they saw the missing agent torn up and drenched in his own blood. Only half his body remained, which was drilled into a branch of the tree.Tap! Tap!His blood showered the ground with its drops.“Holy shit!” the stunned driver exclaimed.Scar shut his eyes and sighed. He opened his eyes afterwards, and by chance, caught a glimpse of the red thing, blur through the men and past him, throwing all of them off their feet.By the time they got on their feet and turned, they found the windscreen of the Humvee smashed to shards, the driver's lifeless body sticking out of it, poked with various shards of glass.“This...” Scar lost his words.“No! No! We weren't here for this.”“We're leaving!”The cops ranted out of horror and ran towards their cruiser, only to get wacked against the vehicles, now with headless bodies and obviously dead.“Damn!” an agent exclaimed.Scar gritted his teeth in exasperation. He knew retreating was the only option now. But his ego still had a prominent hold on his thinking, so he remained silent, while high on his guard.Like the bikers could hear his thoughts, one of them spoke, “Captain. Our scanners are showing an extremely high heat signature at 6 o'clock, about 4 clicks from here.”“That must be the creature,” Scar reasoned.“Yes. But the odd thing is, we couldn't trace it prior before now. Something's off,” the other biker was worried.‘That's because it's a trap, dumbass!’ Scar retorted inwardly.“You guys lead the way, we'll follow with the Humvee,” Scar instructed.Though he knew that this 'creature' was probably smart enough to lure them to it's territory where it had the landscape advantage, he also had faith in the weapons wielded by the dirt bikes. They had mini-guns attached at the front and behind, that'll fire automatically if any thing threatening came within 3 feet. They just had to activate it, which they now did by kick starting the bikes and zooming into the woods. The Hawk squad immediately sprinted towards the Humvee. As they got close, they heard rapid firing emanate from the afar, yells and growls also...Boom!A rapid explosion ensued very closely from behind. This made them pause and turn to check what was happening...Their jaws dropped, their eyes went wide as they saw the exploding bikes in the air, in the claws of an 8ft bipedal beast with red fur and red glowing eyes. It landed with a thud and vanished without a trace. With a sound akin to that of the spinning blade of a helicopter, the squad opened fire without aim, taking steps back to get into the Humvee. They weren't given a chance to as the beast tore them apart, one by one. With a growl, the beast sunk its long claws into the last agent and ripped him into two, his blood, intestines and other organs dropping to the floor like rain.Captain Scar was left motionless as he beheld the gruesome sight, his back against the trunk of the Humvee. Fear and horror was written all over his face as he perspired profusely, his legs shaking as he shuddered.Growl! The beast growled as it strode towards its last victim, blood dripping from its fangs and claws. In a flash, it was before Scar and it bit his head off, cracking the skull and spat it out. Its mouth was drooling with blood and brain matter.Scar's headless body dropped to the floor like an empty can of soda. The scene looked more gruesome than the previous night; more bodies, more blood and a more horrid atmosphere! Thanks to the headlights of the Humvee, the body of the 8ft beast was clearly visible. It had red fur over its taut body, inch long claws and fangs, crimson glowing eyes and pointed ears.It was a man eating Werewolf!Related Chapters

Chapter 6 ~~ Risky Decision ~~ Huntsville High... Chase slammed his grey locker shut and rested his back on it, before sliding down and sitting on the floor. His blue tank top was drenched in sweat, likewise his whole body. Sighing, he said, “This was by far the worst P.E training. Ever!” “No kidding,” Ian agreed, his voice brimming with exasperation. He also sat on the floor beside Chase; his tank top was red. Chase swept his sweat-wet, auburn hair back with his hand, “We were just used as tools while Ace and his guys displayed their stupid stamina and strength.” “I know, right? Even the girls did better than us,” Ian said with a tint of jealousy. Then he frowned, “Are we really that weak?” Chase looked at him, “What? No! Ace might have called us weak, but he's only strong because he's got the number advantage.” Chase paused and fisted his hands, his brows furrowed, “These babies are enough to take him down if we were to go one on--” “Shush!” Ian quickly covered Chase's mout

Chapter 7 ~~ I Told You So ~~ Ian and Chase lumbered into the class with straight faces. All eyes were on them but they ignored. Well, not totally though. Ian was again staring at Kira, who stylishly shared glances with him as well. Chase pulled him by the hand and they sat down, listening to the English teacher’s teachings. The duo barely lasted ten minutes when their minds trailed off with different emotions. They could no longer hear the teacher’s voice but their inner voices instead. Ian couldn’t wait for the class to end, so he could leave for the woods. He wouldn’t have come to class if not for his consistent attendance. He had this feeling that’s he’d find something interesting in the woods. Something had been drawing there ever since he read the news with Chase a while ago. He didn’t know what or why, but he felt he needed to get there as soon as possible. Maybe he could get answers as to why he’s been having these bizarre dreams of other worlds. While everyone had been in
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Confrontation
Chapter 8 ~~ Confrontation ~~ “Ahhh!” Chase screamed like a lady in distress, digging his hands into the soil. The terrified scream didn’t last five seconds before he kept mute and remained frozen. He sat so still, one would have contradicting thoughts to if he was the one that yelled just a few seconds ago. His heaved and heaved, his chest undulating under his clothing, his heart beating at an alarming rate. He was sweating profusely, the growls stinging his ear like needles. It was as though, a tiny speaker was placed in his ears, the terrifying growls emanating from them. Chase was very terrified, even though he hadn’t confirmed what was behind them. Ian wasn’t left out, seated beside Chase and trying all his best to remain sane. He had always been the cool one among them, and was sometimes stoic even when it came to facing threatening factors. But this, this was totally different, on a whole other level. He could somewhat perceive the rage, devastation and killing intent, wi

He’s gonna kill me?’ ~~ Those voices resounded in Ian’s mind, over and over again. He could see himself getting stabbed with the Werewolf’s claws, blood dripping down his torso. The beast lifted him up and opened it mouth to chew his head off. But all of a sudden, Ian finds himself standing far away, completely fine. No blood, no injuries… Then gets stabbed again! And the process repeated itself again and again. It was an endless cycle of death and resurrection. Gasp! Ian jolted awake with a sharp gasp. His eyes were still closed, but all his senses were functioning. He could feel himself lying on a thick foam and a pillow below his head. This familiar feeling made him sigh in relief. He was at home,
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Reconnaissance
Chapter 10 ~~ Reconnaissance ~~ Ian could barely keep his eyes open, as he stood in a vast space of bright white light. The space stretched for over an infinitesimal distance. There was no end, nor a beginning. He felt weightless, yet heavy. Empty, yet full. Lifeless, yet brimming with life. These contradicting feelings made his head throb like his heart was in it. But then again, he felt serenity at the same time. He was greatly perturbed. ‘Where am I?’ ‘What is this place?’ Those would have been his questions, that he usually asked when he found himself here, but no, he had grown self awareness and already knew this was a dream. After about a minute of floating or standing, Ian observed as the scenery changed from a white boundless space to a terrain dotted with tall trees. He brought down his hands from his eyes, rapidly adjusting to the lesser intensity of light. The ground had grasses and rocks coexisting on it. Ian was very familiar with this place. This was in the woods
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Study Buddies
Chapter 11 ~~ Study Buddies ~~ It was Monday the next week, and Ian was late for school. Clad in a big jean jacket, with a brown top within, black trousers and white sneakers, Ian hopped off his bike and rushed into the school building. He dashed across the hallway and sled on the tiles as he turned left and proceeded forward. Almost reaching the end of the hallway, he stopped with a slide. He comported himself, adjusting his backpack hung behind him and stood in front of a door. His eyelids slowly closed as he let out a sigh. He could hear random chatter from within the classroom. Oof… He sighed again before opening his eyes and pushed the door open. He froze upon entry, the whole class became silent all of a sudden, all eyes on him. But the place was so noisy just some seconds ago. Damn… For them to draw this much attention to someone as socially awkward like him, he must have been really late to class. Ian gulped as the thought ran through his mind. From where he stood, he had
Whitefield: Shattered Realms What Could Go Wrong?
Chapter 12 ~~ What Could Go Wrong? ~~ After the chemistry class, they all proceeded to take other classes till the last period of the day. Ian could barely concentrate all through. The only thing on his mind was that he and Kira were lab partners and they had an assignment at hand. They had agreed to meet at her house after school today. He was tensed. The same thing for Chase. Just that in his case, he was petrified. He was also going to Mia’s house after school today. Saying he was tensed is most likely an understatement. He couldn’t help but imagine if her parents and brothers were like her also; aggressive and nonchalant. ‘What if they’re cannibals? Should I call in sick? No. she’d just drag me along anyways. I have to find a way to avoid her,’ Chase pondered as he and Ian strolled towards their side-by-side lockers. Both of them were silent. They didn’t talk to each other as many anxious thoughts ran through their heads. They opened their lockers in unison, stuffed their book
Whitefield: Shattered Realms Second Confrontation
Chapter 13 ~~ Second Confrontation ~~ “Ian! “Ian! “What the hell happened!? “Answer me!... Oh shit!” Chase’s loud and panicking voice blared from the cracked phone that lay dormant of the asphalt road. He yelled and yelled as much as he could, but nothing other than silence replied him. “Ian--” Before his voice could blare out again, the large feet of a humanoid bipedal beast, trampled the phone to shreds. It continued its slow paced stride, giving it a more ominous feeling, its fangs and claws gleaming under the radiating moon from the sky, its crimson eyes beaming bloodlust. The smoke exuding the dirt bike that had crashed into a tree, wafted onto the road and the Mystic Wolf walked through it, its growls getting louder to Ian, who was just a few feet away. Ian grunted in pain, his body squirming like the ground was a pool he could swim in. The pain was just too much. And just as fast as it came, the gnawing pain faded. Ian laid still as calmness permeated his systems, caus

Epilogue… His lush golden hair swayed gently to the whispering wind as he enjoyed a hot cup of tea. He had his legs crossed, seated on a boulder by the crackling fire place. He picked the cup from its saucer and was about to take a sip when the entirety of “that” metaphysical plane shook to its cognitive foundations. The wind howled to the furious distortion in space. The cup in his hand cracked and shattered to pieces, the liquid drying up instantly. As though the space before him was an invisible wall, it rippled as a hand punctured it. A second hand came through and simultaneously, they pulled space apart like a soft piece of fabric. It was the silver-white haired, crystal-blue eyed Ian Whitefield, that walked out of the rip in space. It mended itself as he completely walked through. His crystal-blue eyes were a bit pale under the umbrella of his arched eyelashes. His face was stern as he stood on a spot, glaring at his father, Ghordon. Ghordon dusted off the ceramic crumbs on

Wistfulness
Chapter 125 ~ Wistfulness ~ Ian, Amelia and Raymond, along with their two captives, entered the realm of Knyghts. They met the realm in ruins. Most of the realm had been decimated and leveled to ash and soot. The atmosphere was damp; the clouds were dark grey and ash dripped down the sky like a snow shower. Though, at the moment of their entry, the realm was quite serene, it was pretty much obvious that a war had broken out — a fierce one. The soaring Saphira spotted Rhegalius Claive and landed beside him. The trio alighted the saddle and they had a long talk. The Knyght told them how Dhamon instigated an invasion to the Upper realm but Knyghtstead refused to join, hence putting a big bull’s eye on the realm’s back. He told them how Oregon and the realm of giants breached Knyghtstead and wrecked havoc. Well… the Knyghts were actually faring well, but couldn’t fight at their peak because of the civilians; to avoid casualties. So they tried their best to corner the opposition and push

Aftermath
Chapter 124 ~~ Aftermath ~~ Ian watched King Dhamon fade to oblivion like he never existed. He had his eyes fixated on that spot for about two minutes before raising his head to the turbulent sky and exhaled. He dropped his head and sat on the edge of the slanted building. He kept staring at his dangling legs, sighing at intervals. ‘Is it really over? The all powerful King Dhamon is gone… Well, not all powerful… Mother Knox said he was on par with some demi-gods and yet… I-I just defeated him?’ He held his head and rested his elbows on his thighs, ‘It feels so unreal. I was wielding only a fragment of Ghordon’s essence and it was more than enough to kill him. Wait… Did I just kill someone?’ his eyes dilated for a moment, then he sighed. ‘Tch. He was no longer human.’ “How are you faring, little god?” Mother Knox appeared out of thin air and sat next to Ian. Normally, he’d have been startled but he wasn’t. He tilted his head to take a glance at her, then retracted his eyes to his

Chapter 123 ~ Space-Time ~ ‘This feels… Incredible. It’s like my mind has been opened to several possibilities, several ways I can use my blessing. Various attacks and counter measures skimmed through his mind; attacks that made him sure he'd win even with his spatial blessing alone. He raised his right hand and fixated it on Dhamon. The latter had just obliterated the asteroids surrounding him out of frustration. With the King locked in his bull’s eye, he fisted his palm and drew it back. Space warped around Dhamon and pulled him towards Ian in an Instant. However, Dhamon had readied a fist blazing with nether whilst in motion. As he got in proximity with Ian, he lunged his fist at his face. But then, space distorted to Ian's call and the young man vanished while a large asteroid simultaneously took his place. Dhamon ended up punching the asteroids to

Chapter 122 ~~ Fifteen percent? ~~ Specks of blue essence dissociated gradually from Ghordon’s body and seeped into Ian's chest. By now, Ghordon’s right arm and a part of his shoulder had dissociated completely. Ian's brows kept twitching as he tried to maintain an undeterred focus on the process. His hand would quiver in intervals as he resisted the urge to let go of Ghordon’s hand. “Stay calm, Ian. The calmer you are, the faster the merge,” Ghordon said with a soothing voice. With his eyes still closed, Ian grunted, “This is taking too long. Everyone is in danger. I can feel it.” Ghordon sighed, “That’s why I need you to clear your mind. The faster we do this, the better we have a chance of saving everyone.” Rumble! A tremor shook the metaphysical plane, almost swiping Ghordon and Ian off their feet. They staggered from side to side, still holding onto each other. “What was that?” Ian asked. Ghordon’s eyes narrowed, “It’s too soon.” Ian raised a brow, “It feels like somet

Domain of Darkness
Chapter 121~ Domain of Darkness ~“Athena, the goddess of storms and Metallurgy,” Dhamon said, coming to a stop a few meters away from her. Then he bowed slightly, “My apologies. It's Mother Knox, isn’t it?”Mother Knox stared at the Dhemistarian in disdain. She could tell from their proximity and the malevolent aura exuding him, that he had risen to the level of a demigod. She creased her brows as she felt him getting stronger even as he spoke. His contact with the Upper dimension where primordial cosmic energies flowed freely might be acting as a catalyst to his godhood affinity.“It burdens me how everyone adores and worships you, calling you the goddess of this, the goddess of that. When in truth you’re nothing but a copied waste product of the true gods themselves,” Dhamon spoke like he was on his throne. Her anger and frustration was clearly visible on her face. They weren’t made of flesh and blood, so killing them was kind of pointless and underwhelming. All she wanted was a simple bloodbath, and could only get that from a living creature. That’s why she was still moving forward — to maul Amelia. The thought of taking her back alive had eloped her. He could see the rift — that was over a kilometer away from them, ripple continuously.“He’s back…” he whispered to himself and scurried around the small open room. At the bottom edge of each window frames were protruded circular bricks with foreign carvings engraved on them. Setting his mind and body at peace, he touched each one with his palm, imbuing them with his qi before pushing them into the wall.Clang! As he pushed the last one in, the rift went to a standstill. A few seconds later, the shape of a door appeared beneath the rift. One could see Dhemistaria at the other side and the silhouette of a tall man.
