“Keep your filthy hands to yourself!” Daxon’s voice is like a thunderous strike. Shocked by the audacity in his voice, Veronica gazes at him in complete awe. She keeps her hands to herself and watches in haze as he protects her sister in a protective manner where she wished it was her.

“How bold of you to approach a man that you cheated on, belittled, hated and scorned! Is it the reek of my newly acquired wealth that drew you to this place? I assure you, there is no place for you in it.” Daxon says and Veronica blinks repeatedly.

As far as Veronica thought, she arrived here, ready to base Daxon on the past version of him. It did not occur to her that he would have grown into an Alpha male—one that was ready to speak back to her and break every delusion that she arrived with.

“Daxom, it’s me, Veronica. I know that I cheated on you and divorced you. It was a mistake and I regret it. Please, forgive me.” Veronica pleads, while false and dramatic tears roll from her cheeks.
