“Meow!”

“Yes, I know it is spreading!”

Jason stared into the night sky as he spoke with Nyx.

“Meow!”

“What do you mean, I am changing? You are still the same size after twenty years.”

“Meow!”

“No! I am improving.”

“Meow!”

“It is not a skin rash!”

He looked at the changes happening to his left arm, and he knew this had something to do with the overconsumption of monster meat.

The skin on his left arm felt smooth, but it wasn’t fragile. He didn’t know why there were patches of light that looked like stars. He did not know where they came from or what they were, but these patches brought him the name; star sage.

‘Sigh.’

Jason phased back to his room, leaving behind Nyx to her thoughts.

He touched the painting he started for the tenth time. It was Hanna and Amelia, waiting for him at the village gate.

He knew he wasn’t a great artist, but he wanted to draw it as perfectly as possible.

‘I guess this one won’t do.’

He ripped off the drawing paper in dissatisfaction, but he didn’t damag

He underestimated the enemy, thinking it was just another prey. ‘Did my thinking change with the mutation?’Jason fell into thought as he looked at the massive broken sword. Of course, he knew his thinking had changed with the mutation, but he thought he had control of most of his emotions and thoughts after this long. Still, it seemed to be not the case, and he behaved like a predator who was hungry for power like this. Jason knew he could maintain his rational thinking at the time, but bloody battles seemed to bring out the monster within him. This battle reminded him he had to take control of his emot

This was one of the most crucial missions, and they already lost six members during their journey. ‘This is what we signed up for.’The people their government selected for this mission were those who didn’t have any family or significant other to mourn for their loss. The reason was simple; no one knew if this mission would succeed or if they could survive.According to their captain, this was the most dangerous mission and one of the most crucial missions for their Camp El-mond. About two years back, they found traces of human activities around City Z.About ten years back, their people successfully made connections with their old satellites, but they never detected another group of humans until

She wanted to rest a bit more in this comfortable place.“I think she is waking up.”‘Huh?’Amber realised the voice she heard didn’t belong to anyone she knew.“Where… Where am I?”She slowly pushed her heavy eyelids open, and she saw a kind-looking older woman looking down at her. There were a few other women in the room, but they backed away when she woke up.“You are in the central treatment centre of City Z.”“City Z….”It took her another moment to digest those words, and then her eyes widened when she remembered all the events that happened to them. All the deaths, pain, and misery flooded her mind, and her eyes became red.“Others… Where are the others?”Amber shot up from her bed, but the pain assaulted her side.“Argh!”She whimpered in pain.“Take it easy. There are a few fractures in your ribs. The others are okay. Your driver has a concussion, but the other two are in better condition. They are waiting outside.

“What do you guys have?”Amber got comfortable in her seat as she ate her breakfast. They found no signs of the people of City Z spying on them, and they became more comfortable after a week of staying in this place. City Z was returning to the condition before their world became a target of an alien invasion. These people planted crops and reared livestock inside the city. They had some production facilities to produce daily necessities for the people, but some of these products made Amber puzzled. One of the most popular items in the city was cold weapons, and swords had astronomical values. She knew people in this city used cold weapons, but she had no idea why they would be so valuable compared to their advanced weapons.‘Is it because they are not available for sale?’She thought of a possibility, but there was another problem. Why did these people want weapons, anyway? There were no threats in the surrounding area, and there were ample guards.“The claw marks are real. They ar

The sensor units they placed within a hundred-kilometre radius of their city did an amazing job of finding any movements in the area. That was how they found the people who came looking for them, and they even detected this demon coming toward them. ‘But… Our teacher… How powerful is he?’Perley eyed the figure sitting cross-legged on the ground with the massive white tiger at his side. They were growling at each other as if they were talking to each other, and he knew they were communicating, but none of them ever understood what they said to each other. The village’s housing structure remained untouched as new construction projects focused on essential production facilities and accommodations for the new settlers arriving through the ongoing clearing operations. Infrastructure plans were in place, but progress was slow due to the sheer number of projects they were juggling. If Jason or Amelia had wanted, they could have easily upgraded their home—no one would have objected. "What a small place," the hooded figure muttered as he entered the heart of the Brodice Kingdom’s capital. His voice, a slightly older male tone, carried a mix of amusement and disappointment. "And why is their security so bad?" he added, his sharp eyes scanning the bustling streets.Soldiers packed every corner and alley, their inspections meticulous. Even the citizens were forced to pass through layers upon layers of security just to move about. Yet, despite the apparent vigilance, no one noticed him. Draped in a black cloak, the figure walked openly down the middle of the road, his presence going entirely undetected."Well... they have to be careful. That bounty is indeed tempting," he muttered to himself, a sly grin creeping across his hidden face. "Ah, I wish I were as young as I was back then. Maybe I could’ve finished off these weaklings myself for that reward." His voice carried a mocking tone. "The Crystal Pulse? What a bland name for such a daring organisation."He chuckled s

"No, I’m saying they’re going overboard.""Isn’t that what they always do? Some of the most famous gamers across the country had gathered in one place, a rare occurrence in itself. The Endless had grown too big to ignore, and even gamers who had avoided it initially had now established themselves in the challenging yet captivating world of the game.Ironically, most of them seemed to have forgotten that The Crystal Pulse was the primary reason players had been able to thrive in The Endless in the first place. It was The Crystal Pulse’s infrastructure and guidance that allowed players to survive in this mercilessly realistic game. Their success had been the beacon that drew many to the VR game considered the hardest ever created. Yet here they were, plotting ways to overthrow the very organization that

She had a few healing potions tucked away in her pack, but she knew she couldn’t waste them. Supplies were limited, and every soldier had been issued a fixed amount by Crystal Pulse. While the organization would do whatever it took to keep them alive, this was part of their training—learning to manage resources in the heat of battle.'I heard they’re watching us anyway,' Gillian thought, her mind drifting. Since leaving Light Shone, several Grandmasters had vanished from the village, and she suspected they were nearby, keeping a close eye on the mission. The first and most important rule for Crystal Pulse players was not to die, even if respawning in eighteen hours was an option.'Logan is confident en

  • 297 - Cosmic Horror

'His mutation is changing. Or... should I say improving?' Amelia observed Jason closely as the changes in his body unfolded with each passing second. The starry night-like texture on his left side began to expand subtly toward the right, slowly overtaking the black, armour-like skin. However, the transformation seemed restrained, as though the artefact lacked the power to fully support Jason's demand. The process lasted nearly an hour before the dagger, once brimming with ominous energy, dulled completely, its power entirely drained.Jason’s body underwent slight changes—a small part of his pitch-black armour faded, replaced by the cosmic texture of the starry night. Finally, he opened his eyes, feeling a rare sense of relief. The artifact's mutation had been neutralised; it would no longer corrupt anyone or anything. For the first time in a long while, he felt as though a small part of his burden had been lifted.“Well... you can’t go out like that!” Amelia’s voice pulled him from his

Jason’s gaze returned to the towering demon before him, but he didn’t feel it was worth his attention. His glowing eyes simply stared at the massive figure for a brief moment before he swung his right arm through the air with effortless precision. It was as if he was clawing at the distant figure. A second later, several glowing white lines expanded across the space, moving faster than the eye could track. They reached the demon in an instant, cutting through its form. Behind it, the underground mountain erupted into a cloud of dust, disintegrating as though it had been struck by an invisible force. For a heartbeat, the Greater Demon stood there, frozen in place as if nothing had happened. Then, with a sickening sound, its colossal body crumbled to the ground in pieces, diced cleanly by Jason’s strike.“Screech!” A high-pitched wail echoed across the cavern as panicked creatures scattered, their movements erratic and mindless in the wake of their apex predator’s death.
