“Wow, your place is really big, Miss Diwana! And there are so many rooms, too! Are you sure it’s really ok that we stay over here while I work at the lumberyard?”

“But of course, I wouldn’t be agreeing to have you over if I didn’t want that. Besides, Eron and Jack vouched for you, and even if you’re just a new hire and a newcomer to the village, that’s good enough for me, really.”

Orlando found himself swallowing hard at what the amazing landlady/cook/foster mother said and he would also feel that tight feeling of guilt twisting his chest. He knew that Diwana was only sharing her thoughts with him but what she said heavily reminded him, once again, of how much trust these people were willing to give him, despite him having a close connection with Maxie and his other teammates who were anything but trustworthy towards them.

And it wasn’t exactly something he could be comfortable about…

But for the sake of his sisters’ safety and well-being, he was willing to grab at straws back then. H
