Both the Senior citizen and his young guest were silent for quite a long time as they silently stirred their teacups and took small bites of their respective cake slices.

It hardly happened that the village’s elderly head entertained guests, but he admits that this one was special. So special, that he was quite surprised to have met her at the Joseph’s mansion when he was going house-to-house for donations for the De Narra boy yesterday.

“Grampa,” the pixie-like lady softly said, breaking the uncomfortable silence between them. “It’s amazing that you have cake as delicious as this up here in the mountains. It’s my favorite pastry now.”

The old man grinned in agreement. “May I ask what was your former choice, my child.”

“Well, back in the city. Myron would always get me my favorite cake at a 24-hour bakery near the main hospital. My fave is their pistachio sansrival,” the girl instantly replied, while reflecting on her host’s mysterious smile.
