“You’ve got a deep cut… Still, you're fortunate that you're near the hospital.”

The doctor said.

I glanced down at my arm—it was fully healed. Not a trace of pain or a scar remained. Medical technology had truly advanced in Neo Silicon Valley.

“Thank you very much.”

I said with a bow of gratitude.

“No problem… Helping people in need is a doctor’s job.”

The doctor turned to the window, his gaze distant as if looking beyond the horizon.

“Neo Silicon Valley is in a constant state of threat. Terrifying things happen left and right in this city. I hate that some people blessed with abilities can just hurt others without consequence.”

“Then, doctor… would you prefer a world without ability users?” I asked, my voice calm but curious.

He didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he gave a heavy sigh.

“I wouldn’t say I hate that kind of world… Ability users have their pros and cons. Even without them, the world would still be a mess. It’s just… Ability users make the dividing lines in society more visible. The prejudice, the hierarchy—it’s become normal. And that’s what I fear.”

I nodded slowly.

I understood what he meant more than anyone.

I had once been a reject—an outcast unwanted by society. Labeled as inferior simply for lacking what others had.

“The atmosphere’s getting gloomy…”

The doctor said with a forced chuckle.

“Let’s look at the bright side. Ability users accelerated technological progress and helped many lives along the way.”

He shifted his gaze to Fina, who was sitting quietly beside me.

“Little lady, you mentioned earlier that you're asking about the students who fell into comas under mysterious circumstances. Am I correct?”

“That’s right. We're currently working on a school article about the case.”

Fina replied with a practiced smile, pulling a notebook and pen from her bag.

Ah, right. That was the cover story we came up with to avoid drawing suspicion during our investigation.

We couldn’t exactly admit we were part of a dark side organization.

That alone would land us in trouble. I didn’t think of us as criminals, but other dark side groups?

They were infamous for handling the dirty work no one else wanted to touch.

The doctor stroked his chin thoughtfully.

“It is indeed mysterious. All of them falling into comas like that… The only conclusion we’ve been able to reach is that an ability user must be involved.”

“Is there anything common between these students?”

Fina asked, her pen already dancing on the page.

“They were all considered prodigies. Each one known for exceptional mastery over their abilities. In fact, they were being scouted as potential top weapons for Neo Silicon Valley. There may be politics behind this too… but without solid evidence, we can’t point fingers.”

“What about the most recent student? Where was she found?”

Fina continue asking.

“She was discovered unconscious in the alleyway near the research laboratory where she worked.”

“Were all the students found in alleys?”

 Fina pressed.

The doctor shook his head.

“No, not all. Some were found in their apartments, others in parks. The seven students were discovered in different locations, scattered around the city.”

Fina rapidly note everything down in her notebook.

“Lastly…” she said, “can I visit the last student who fell into a coma?”

“I’m sorry, but you’re not authorized…”

The doctor replied firmly.

“You’d need permission from her parents to enter the room.”

“Can’t you reconsider? Just for a few minutes?”

Fina asked sweetly.

“I’m afraid not. Rules are rules.”

“Just a little bit?”

She pleaded again, inching closer.

“I said no. We have to abide by the hospital’s regulations.”

Then Fina leaned in, gently took the doctor’s hand, and gave him the most innocent, sparkling-eyed expression I had ever seen.

Her voice softened into an angelic tone as she pouted.

“Please, can I make a visit? Just for a tiny bit. Please~”

The doctor blinked rapidly, clearly struggling to resist her charm. His face began to flush.

“N-N-No…”

Fina leaned even closer, giving him an adorable tilt of the head.

“Pretty please, doctor~”

“I—Fine! J-Just ten minutes, and that’s all!” he stammered, clearly defeated.

“That’s plenty. Thank you so much, doctor!” she beamed.

The poor man turned red as tomato.

Fina’s cuteness really was a dangerous weapon. She had the perfect skill set to become an idol.

A few minutes later, we entered the room of the most recent student victim.

“Saito Minami…” Fina read aloud. “A student researcher in nuclear science. Her ability is called Mirror Laser—she can accumulate light on reflective surfaces and discharge it as a laser.”

“That’s a pretty cool power…” I said. “I bet she can even heat water for cup ramen in an instant.”

Fina giggled. “I’m sure she has better uses for it than just cooking noodles.”

“True… But anyway, why are we in her room again?”

Fina held up her notebook. “Don’t forget my ability. Tracker can only be used when I have a possession containing the target’s DNA. It doesn’t just track people—it lets me see footprints, where they were and what they did for up to three days before going unconscious. Since her body was transferred here just yesterday, we should still have a chance to uncover something.”

She approached the patient’s bedside and gently plucked a strand of hair.

“One hair won’t hurt.”

Fina closed her eyes in concentration.

A soft light-blue glow emerged from her irises.

“My ability is working normally. Now, let’s go to the spot where her body was found.”

I nodded. “These students are prodigies… Someone clearly wants to take them out. Could Saint White be behind this too?”

Fina didn’t respond right away. She bit her lip, then said.

“We don’t have concrete evidence. Yes, they’re known as terrorists. But I’m not the kind of person who points fingers just because someone looks guilty. I want to uncover the truth.”

“I see…”

As we left the hospital and headed toward the alleyway, a sudden explosion rocked a nearby building.

“What the hell?” I exclaimed, spinning around.

Flames burst from the windows of the structure across the street.

And then—soaring from the inferno—came a girl with bright pink hair, flying on a wave of blazing fire.

“Is that… Amber?”

I muttered with wide-eyed.

  • World Rejector   Chapter 5: Saint White

Outside of New Silicon Valley, in the ruins of what was once the European countryside, stood a temple untouched by time and war. A sanctuary for those who despised the existence of ability users. They called themselves the White Cult.Inside the grand, candlelit chamber, robed figures knelt in silence. At the altar, a young woman in pristine white vestments stood, hands delicately clasped as if in prayer. Her silver hair shimmered under the soft glow of flickering flames, and her blue eyes held an ethereal serenity. This was White—their revered leader, the chosen voice of their so-called divinity.Yet, beneath the gentle facade, something flickered.A kneeling disciple, drenched in sweat, trembled before her. “The operation in New Silicon Valley… it has failed. The ability user was captured.”White’s expression did not falter. She exhaled slowly, the ghost of a smile playing on her lips. “Is that so?” Her voice, gentle and measured, was like the whisper of a mother singing a lullaby.

That would’ve been a disaster.”Her voice was gentle, warm. Like a cup of tea on a rainy day.I adjusted the weight of the bags in my hands. “Where are you taking all this?”“The rooftop.”I froze.“The… rooftop?”She nodded cheerfully. “Yup! For some reason, I felt uncomfortably dense as I walked side by side with Fina down the crowded streets of Neo Silicon Valley. Now that I think about it, this is my first time being alone with Fina. No... that’s not it.Fina was attractive, sure, but her looks alone didn’t affect me much. This uneasiness was different. It was the kind of discomfort you feel when you're with someone you don’t really know.Aside from being the organization’s data analyst, I knew next to nothing about her. I wasn’t here to flirt or impress—just to guard her. That’s my job. The information we received was vague, but the risk level was high. Sion didn’t seem bothered at all."That’s good."Sion murmured.Suddenly, the ceiling above us groaned and then collapsed. From the shadows above, our target dropped down with a loud crash, landing with two monstrous, wolf-like beasts by his side. Beneath the sprawling infrastructure of Neo Silicon Valley, hidden deep within the massive underground canal system, was a path leading to a place known only to a select few—the Nether. The entrance was narrow, dark, and coated in a sticky dampness that clung to everything.Massive rats scurried across the path, and insects skittered along the slick walls. But for those who knew the way and followed a specific path through the maze-like tunnels, it would lead them to the hidden sanctuary. The underground of Neo Silicon Valley was an enigma—a vast labyrinth beneath a modern city, forgotten by time and untouched by technology. And within its depths stood the Nether, a colossal temple-like structure carved from ancient stone. Towering statues lined its chamber: one of an angel with wings spread wide, another of a stoic human holding a book, and the third of a demon with twisted horns and outstretched claws. Each figure towered over the room like silent watchers. It was a place shrouded

Hearing her say my name—it was something I thought I’d never experience again. Our interaction was stiff. Awkward. There were so many things I wanted to ask, so many things I wanted to say… but my lips wouldn’t move. The silence between us was getting heavy, almost suffocating.“Mio… Why did you come?” I asked, still unable to meet her gaze.Mio glanced slightly to her left, avoiding my eyes the same way I was avoiding hers. This had to be hard for her too. No doubt.I needed to end this awkwardness somehow.“Your little sister still thinks you and I are together,” she said, holding up a paper bag. “She made a mistake and sent a parcel to my place again. I came here to deliver it.”She handed the paper bag over carefully.“Thanks… Sorry for the trouble. I’ll explain everything to my sister soon.”“No need,”
