"Why isn't this working?" Zach wondered.

Zach continued to grasp his hands. The needles moved in sync with his hand movements. The shield's hologram was textured like jelly but impervious to a single needle.

"I did it!" exclaimed Ray, who had entered the shield with Sean.

"Zach, come to your senses!" Sean exclaimed.

Zach was surprised. He then burst out laughing.

"Hahaha. You moron!"

Zach's needle vanished completely into the floor. Sean and Ray looked around for the needle. Then a roar erupted from beneath their feet.

"Shit!"

Several needles began to penetrate the floor inside the shield. Then come more needles.

"Don't be nervous, Ray. All you have to do is cover the floor."

"There won't be enough time." The needles are all on the floor. I need to restrain Zach so he doesn't attack."
