7. The masked sniper is the spy

Completely in shock, Henry gasped as his mother fell into his arms. But to his surprise, she was still breathing fine and just gasping for breath.

He breathed out in relief. Thank God she was safe. He looked around and saw that the bullet had hit the bodyguard's leg beside them.

"Argh," the bodyguard cried in immense pain, falling to the floor.

"Oh no! We should take him to the hospital." Stella took out her phone and put a call across to 911.

Henry had a very cold and aggravated look on his face. His sharp eyes traced where the bullet came from, and saw the person trying to run away.

He kept his eyesight fixated on that person to ensure he didn't lose him.

"Mom, you take him to the hospital. I'll go after him!"

He picked his race and ran after the guy. Well, he confirmed it was a guy because of his masculine structure. He could also be 99.99999% sure it was the same masked guy from the footage.

He was determined not to let him slip away! He jumped over the fence and kept running after him till they got to the roadside filled with cars, passersby, motorbikes.

The person stopped running and turned around to see him. On his face was a black mask and he wore a hoodie.

"Who the hell are you?" Henry asked. Instead of answering, the person scoffed in derision and somehow, Henry could feel it through the mask.

He began to run again as he jumped over a car, and Henry followed without hesitation. He almost got hit by a car as he did a somersault over the car's bonnet.

They continued running as he started throwing objects at Henry to stop him from following him. Henry dodged them all, and one time, he dodged one that hit a bouncing wall, so the object bounced and hit the masked guy's leg.

He was almost in a deserted area when Henry caught up. Henry grabbed a plank and threw it hard at his legs, causing him to stumble and fall.

"Sh*t!" he cried out, unable to move his legs. Henry smirked in victory as he scuttled over to him. He knelt beside him and gripped his neck.

He gave him a sneering look. "I guess you can't escape now. Speak or..."

"Or what the hell are you going to do?" He started laughing like nobody's business. Was he a maniac? He aimed to remove the mask from him face first, as that was the most important, when his eyes captured him holding a knife.

He quickly grabbed his hands before he could stab his leg. "Give me that knife, you…."

They began to struggle with the knife, as he pushed Henry to the floor. He released one of his hands and punched his face.

Henry felt pain as his mind became cloudy, and lost focus. He shook his head and continued to struggle with the knife, because he was targeting his chest.

"I will kill you the same way Reuben was murdered! And I will enjoy doing it!" He began to laugh.

This fueled Henry's anger and luckily for him, he was stronger than him. He kicked his stomach, the knife was in his hands as he stabbed his left side of the masked man's waist.

"Arrrghhh!" The man groaned as he instinctively grabbed his wound. He gritted his teeth as he fell off him, blood soaking his fingers.

Henry felt relieved seeing him down. "So, what now?" He smirked as he was about to reach for the mask and take it off.

But the masked guy's next words stopped him. "What do you think Henry, that you have succeeded? What about your mum?" He said with a wide smile.

Henry felt confused.

"Who's gonna protect her now?"

"Why waste your time on me when her life is in danger?"

He suddenly realized. Damn, Stella was in danger and it was a trap for him to pursue him! Cold shivers began to run down his spine.

The masked guy pushed Henry when he saw that he lost balance and ran away.

Henry couldn't care less at this point, he took out his phone and called her but she wasn't picking up.

He began running out of the deserted area with his phone to his ear, waiting for her to pick up but she didn't.

His heart raced as he reached the road and stopped a taxi, heading hastily to the hospital.

When he got there, he checked frantically for her. What if she has been kidnapped? Or killed?

"Henry!" Her voice called out. Running hands through his hair, he suddenly spotted her and ran over, holding her shoulder in relief to find her unharmed. He took a deep breath.

"Did you catch him and finally see his face?" And she paused using her hands to check round his body. "hope you weren't hurt?"

"I'm fine, and he ran away, he said you were in danger so I had no choice than to rush back, but luckily you weren't. Where is the guard that was shot?"

He asked as he sighted him coming with two nurses on his left and right side with his hands on their shoulders.

He sighed seeing that he was fine, at least he wasn't in a wheelchair, but bandages around his left leg and he might need crunches.

Henry looked around to see whether he might find someone suspicious as Stella moved his face to look at her as she saw how worried he was.

She sighed. "I know you are looking for someone suspicious, but you won't find anyone, Henry," she inhaled.

"He told you that I was in danger because he knew your weakness. It was a lie, he wanted you to let go of him," she said.
