Chapter 64: Settling Silent Scores

Jane walked up to her mother and gave her a hug.

Surprisingly, Ms. Anna wrapped her arms around her daughter and returned the hug.

Ms. Anna barely expressed emotions or affections, it was almost like she had no feelings at all.

It was the least that one could expect from someone who had been through half of what she had experienced in life.

To her, life was like a transaction.

That was why she tried pushing Jane to Vincent.

Love was not in the equation, comfort was the only goal.

Although she had moved on, she was blinded by memories from her past.

And because of this, she had failed to see things from her daughter’s point of view.

When Ms. Anna’s eyes met the wall clock in her room, her eyes widened and she immediately broke off their long hug.

She had totally forgotten that she had somewhere to be at the moment.

She didn’t even remember what brought her home in the first place.
