Chapter 47: A Thousand Method

Li Xin in the real world kneels to the ground as the veins on his head were all strained with this sudden massive load of information entering his mind

In his mind, he could see many people practicing this technique. And they all practiced it in a different way.

These people have no faces and they were made of light particles.

Some practice this inner energy skill lying down.

Some practice it while standing.

Some practice it while sitting cross legged. Whichever way, whichever pose, whichever method, all could be used.

But, each method, each pose, each method, actually comes from the heart. Restless heart creates restless method.

Carefree heart creates carefree method. Those who are impatient, would become more impatient. Those who are calm, become even calmer. This skill amplified one heart.

Bad become worse. Good become great

Li Xin also understood something about the faceless figures in his mind right now

is not that these people are the people that used to practice this technique but these people are the projection that the system created to show Li Xin how to practice the technique.

After all, if this is the projection of the predecessor it does not make sense.

As Li Xin looks at the people practicing these skill, Li Xin could also see the circulation of energy in the body of the people practicing.

He could see where the energy goes, which meridian is used to exert greatest impact with less use of energy

How to amplify weak energy to strong energy.

There are these faceless people practicing it by lying down as energy enter its body, there is some of them who stands up and stand still without moving, some practice it by hanging on trees and some practicing it underwater

But before, he could only see the poses and not the hidden method.

This time as he watched again, he could see the circulation of energy and the way of the energy seems to create a synergy with the people practicing it.

The figure of the person who stands up and walks create a restless heart. But restless heart did not mean the method is bad.

The figure of the person who practice this skill by standing up and waling suddenly shows a few moves.

Each of his moves is fast and swift. It was restless and affected even Li Xin heart.

As for the person who practice it by sitting cross legged, when he attacks, his method is calm and unhurried. There is a trace of subtlety in the slowness of his moves.

It might appear that the attack is slow but there is some mystery in the attack that even if it is slow, one could not avoid it. It is like one is pull into his pace.

There were so many people practicing it, each one different than the last and with all kind of postures and movement

This technique seems to draw out not only one potential but one own self into the surface.

The one that is lying possess a gentle demeanor, the ones that are standing possess a fierce demeanors and so on and so forth.

They were inspired by themselves and they improve by being true to their own hearts and path

There are those who sit cross legged under a tree and one second of enlightenment changing that faceless person into an expert as Li Xin could see that the faceless person sitting under a tree suddenly leap up and internal energy surround him as waves and waves of created distortion in the air

there are some who stand on top of a rock, the feet of that person it’s at the edge of a boulder, below it is the cliff, with one slip up, that person could fall down and died.

but that faceless person stands there without any swaying when the wind moves, like the wind avoided this faceless person body.

And then when he makes even the smallest movement, the inner energy that is around the man would be unleashed with a great ferocity

The scene changes as Li Xin pays attention to that faceless person.

Now that same faceless person is attacking enemy and Li Xin could see that when he moves to attack, simple moves become divine moves that could not be broken and could not be deflected.

One is pulled toward his attack and push from his defense.

It was then that Li Xin understood what the system is trying to show him by showing all these methods and types of cultivating this technique.

There are tens of thousands of ways of practicing this manual and there is no wrong way to practice it.

There is a myriad path to enlightenment but in the end it is only one. If he perseveres until the end, he would return to the source.

Li Xin also understood the many esoteric concepts that seems to be embedded in the manuals.

There is a trace of Buddhist elements in it, Daoist elements, Confucians elements and many others elements of faith and belief that existed.

But it all is related to the practice of longevity and immortality

One could guess that Li Jing, the creator of this technique must have a lot of knowledge of many other cultures

One who is a monk could read this Scroll and gained an understanding through the teaching of Buddha.

Cut all distraction and become enlightened, sat under the Bodhi tree and become Buddha.

One who believe in the Three Purities and its methods could also read this scroll and carve a path according to the Daoist methodology.

Remove all fetters and become Immortal.

A Confucian scholar could read this scroll and gain a righteous and desire to do justice and apply it to their martial arts to be straightforward and better broken than bent.

Path of self-improvement is endless, do righteous deeds and suppress all evils!

But whether it is Buddhism, Daoist, Confucians or others, it seems to lead to only one which is the practice of immortality.

It didn’t matter from which door you came in; the objectives are all the same.

Immortality.

A thousand river in the end converge to the sea

Li Xin was shocked when he understood this.

If not for the system, he would surely be bogged down by all the religious references and ancient notes and the other esoteric concepts that is presented in the scroll.

And even when Li Xin just skimmed the pages he could see all kinds of references to other faiths.

There is even that of the fire worshipping cults and of religions that seems a lot like Islam and Christianity.

If he is not mistaken there is a Muslim community in Tang dynasty in Guangzhou. In 758 there is unrest and many fled from that area.

From what he reads about it in the Encyclopedia of the game, it mentioned briefly about Islam that the Islam was brought to Tang dynasty by Arab traders

The funny thing was that these traders who is primarily concerned with trading and commerce were not concerned at all with spreading Islam

They did not try to convert the Tang people at all and only did commerce.

Maybe it was because of this low profile that the 845 anti-Buddhist edict said absolutely nothing about Islam

But, many of them were killed during two massacre. One of them is the Yangzhou massacre of 760 and the Guangzhou Massacre in 878 during the Huangchao rebellion

The victims were not only Muslims as it included Jews, Christians and Persian people.

But in Li Jing Eternal Life Scroll practices, all of these religions and belief, is represented and written about.

However, this scroll itself is not some religious book neither does it try to expound the belief of these religions.

Instead it is a martial arts manual

it is all about practice of immortality.

It took the concepts of many of these religion about soul, about insights of life and death and if it’s not for the system, Li Xin is quite sure he could not navigate the book without being confused with all of these references.

It might take Li Xin all of his life and he would still could not understand how to cultivate this technique if not for the system

He saw all of these images of faceless people practicing and gained a deeper understanding of how to practice this skill.

This is the way the system trained him.

Unlike other martial artist that have to experiment with trial and error when trying to practice this skill, Li Xin did not need to take such approach and risk of energy deviation in one body if he takes the wrong step.

As long as he could put points into it he could learn it no matter how hard it is for others to practice it.

It is not only that.

The system treats any martial arts like a skill book.

It would cut to the chase and tell you what you have to do to train in the skill and one do not have to read through the lines or hidden meaning inside the book to understand the book

It is only now that Li Xin truly felt that his system is truly a cheat system.

‘Sorry, system’ he mutters to himself.
