Chapter 5
Author: Blanco Burn
Mark was dumbfounded. He had received a call from the city hospital and specially requested the Raptor Operators for backup to deal with these extremely vicious criminals, yet he was getting yelled at by his superior!

The weirder thing was when Mark looked at the expression on Harold's face, he realized that he seemed very scared of these people in front of him.

"Chief Saun, what's going on? I'm here to capture them. Why are you asking us to retreat?" Mark swept his gaze across Xayne and his men. He was not a fool, and he could sense an aura of aggression and killing intent from them!

If Harold had not barged in suddenly, he would most probably have ordered the Raptor Operators to open fire!

"Mark, you stupid donkey! Are you saying I'm not high-ranking enough to order your Patrol Enforcement Division? Get your men out of here now! All of them!" Harold shouted at the top of his lungs, as his heart pounded uncontrollably.

Kenneth had given strict orders that no one was allowed to intervene in this matter and this group of people.

Even though Harold had no idea who they were and why they had come to Shalholm, he knew very well that only a very important person could make Kenneth look for the general so anxiously!

"I'm sorry, my orders couldn't reach them in time! Gentlemen, please forgive them." Harold forced a big smile on his face as he looked at Xayne and his men, and his body was shaking. The icy look on Xayne's face made him sweat profusely with fear.

He even had a hunch that if he had not made it here on time, Mark and everyone he brought here today would be lying dead on the ground! When he thought about that, he broke out in a cold sweat.

Then, Ace stepped forward with a dark expression on his face as he looked at Harold, Mark, and the team he had brought. He sneered and rebuked them, "Very well! Patrol Enforcement Division of Shalholm, how bold of you!"

Harold's heart dropped as soon as he heard that. Mark, who was standing behind him, pointed his finger at Ace and yelled, "How dare you speak so arrogantly! Do you want me to issue an order for all of you to be taken back for investigation?!"

"Shut up! Step aside! Get lost now!"

Upon hearing those words, Harold's heart was filled with fear. He turned around and scolded Mark before apologizing to Ace.

However, Xayne frowned and looked at Harold indifferently, "Are you the chief inspector of patrols around here?"

Harold immediately nodded and answered, "Yes, sir."

What?!

Mark and the others were all shocked when they heard Harold calling him sir. They looked at the man in front of their eyes in disbelief as they wondered to themselves. 'Who exactly is this man? Why did Chief Saun call him sir? '

Suddenly, several jeeps with local military plates came flooding straight into the area!

Thump! Thump! Thump!

More than ten fully equipped soldiers jumped off the jeeps, and they were led by a First Lieutenant!

Linford's face was filled with anger and solemnity as he shouted from afar, "Who told you to come here? Stand down now! Harold Saun, what the hell are you doing?!"

After seeing who had spoken, Harold immediately saluted and said, "Sir! What brought you here?!"

Linford used to be Harold's squad leader before becoming the commander-in-chief of Shalholm with thirty thousand troops under his command. Harold was not expecting that Linford would be alarmed too!

Harold instantly realized what was going on and figured that he was out of his depth in this situation. So, he moved aside and gave way to Linford.

Linford pointed at Harold angrily and shouted, "Stand down now. Now!"

Then, he immediately stood upright and saluted as soon as he turned to Xayne.

"Linford Haith, 7th combat division of the Drakecrusher Legion, reporting to the Supreme Commander of Northern Plains!"

Boom!

It was as if a bomb had dropped on them from the sky, and all of them had been blasted and incinerated!

'T-The Supreme Commander of Northern Plains?!

'He's actually the Supreme Commander of Northern Plains! The youngest and most powerful figure among the five major military districts! He's the King of North who successfully defended the border of Drakonia against a million troops from eight countries alone, Xayne Xavier!'

Harold and Mark finally realized what was happening earlier! At the same time, Harold had already reached for his phone and sent Kenneth a message. However, his hands were still shaking.

"Linford Haith, your men impressed me!" Ace said in a cold voice.

Linford immediately said, "I'm sorry for not disciplining them well enough!"

Xayne had lost his patience by then as he said, "I have somewhere else to be."

Then, Xayne walked right past them, and no one dared to stand in his way!

After Xayne and his men left, Linford and the others were finally relieved, but were soaked with sweat.

"Sir, what's going on exactly?" Harold asked nervously. He figured that something major must have been happening or the Supreme Commander of Northern Plains would not be here in Shalholm.

Linford turned around and yelled at him as if he had gone mad, "Harold Saun! You're the chief inspector of patrols here, yet you can't even manage your subordinates well! Your career would probably have come to an end if I hadn't made my way here today!"

"Sir, stop scaring me. What's happening? We have no idea at all." Harold was anxious.

"Did you know that a very serious car accident happened on Phoenix Street today?" Linford asked in a cold voice.

Harold was bewildered as he thought to himself. 'I'm the chief inspector of patrols. Why would I know anything about a car accident? That's what my sub-division deals with.'

But Mark immediately stepped forward and said, "Lieutenant Haith, I know about that accident. It's been investigated and concluded to be purely an accident. The victim was a little girl. Is there anything wrong with that?!"

"Accident?! Hmph!" Linford's eyes were red as he shouted angrily, "I'll tell you about it then! That was no accident, but premeditated murder! And the victim, that little girl, is the biological daughter of the Supreme Commander of Northern Plains! Now, tell me, how many of you stupid donkeys were ready to sacrifice your life?!"

Boom!

Everyone was shocked and they could only think of one thing, 'The sky has fallen!'

Harold's palms were covered in sweat. He froze in place for some time before shouting, "Quick! Notify everyone to stay away from anyone from Northern Plains! Don't interfere with them! Listen carefully, do not interfere! Also, find out the mastermind behind this murder! Right now!"

"Yes, Chief Saun," Mark responded.

However, Linford waved his hand and said, "Leave it! Do you think those people from Northern Plains would give you a chance to do that?! Remember, just play dumb if anything happens! Even if things go haywire, the higher-ups will deal with it! All you have to do is watch your men!"

After saying that, Linford led his men and left angrily, and appointed some of his men to protect the hill.

On the other side, Ace quickly handed Xayne a phone after they left for a while and said, "Supreme Commander, it's from the four elders of the Drakonian Council!"

Xayne frowned slightly and took the phone and heard a hoarse voice coming from the other end of it, "It's me, Hammond Chopin! Xayne, do you know what you're doing? The soldiers of Northern Plains can never go over the hill! His Excellency has found out about this and he's fuming! The four of us spent so much effort to finally calm him down! Please don't do anything reckless, do you understand?!

"We know about what happened at Shalholm, and we'll personally send someone over to deal with it. Stay where you are and don't go anywhere!"

Faced with the aggressive tone on the other side of the phone, Xayne looked up at the blue sky as his eyes filled with tears, and said, "Hammond, did you hear how Coco kept calling for her dad? Can you imagine seeing her covered in blood on the brink of death? You expect me to stay calm about this? She's my daughter, my own blood and flesh! It's been five years, and I never knew that I had a daughter! I owe her and her mother! I'm going to protect her and Serena for the rest of my life! If you're stopping me from doing this because of my identity, I, Xayne Xavier, will resign as the Supreme Commander of Northern Plains right now and become an ordinary citizen! There's no way I'll let the Golding family of Shalholm get away with this! Whoever stands in my way will be my enemy!"

Elder Stringer suddenly shouted toward Fent. But at that very moment, just as the spears were about to pierce into Fent's body, a faint smile appeared at the corner of Fent's lips.
