Chapter Forty-Seven – Accomplice?

The door to his room was knocked on and Casimir paused the movie he was watching, “Come in, Jean.” There was no one else he lived with anyway.

His sister peeked inside, wearing a pout. “This is the next day already and mom hasn’t come back home.”

What was she? Five. “And so what? Do you want to sleep on her body? She’s married now so she’d be with her husband.”

His mother had been staying with her Japanese husband more frequently than usual but that was expected since she was his new favorite wife.

It was still annoying that his mom married an already married man but that shouldn’t be his business.

As long as she wasn’t involved with what he spoke to Dominic about, then she could be anywhere she wanted to be.

“I called and they said she wasn’t there either.” Jean replied, entering the room. “Should we call the police?”

Casimir glared at her and she folded her arms. “What should we do then? What if something bad happens to her?”

Dominic must suspect Jean if he didn’t even try to let her know what’s going on. And why wouldn’t he? Jean was known to already involve in a lot of shady stuff. Even as she had turned a new leaf, sometimes, company’s called her to destroy their competitors because they don’t believe she’s completely turned a new leaf. And with how excited she used to be, seeing the paycheck the companies offered, if not he was always there to remind her of her vow, his little sister would most likely jump on them. “Get my phone from my room. Let’s hear what he wants to say. Note also, I’d tell him you just told me your suspicions.” Casimir said. “Will he believe I just told you?” Jean rolled her eyes. “Well, he just called you so he can as well assume it made you remember something. He'd said “till further notice’ but it sounded like ‘till I feel like taking him back’.The Young Master sighed. To think that for a split second, he assumed Bethany was a decent caring dad. The boy looked sick and pale like he barely went out under the sun. Lucas rubbed his eyes as his uncle started the car. He noticed the visitor with them and smiled at him. “Hello.” The boy recoiled, facing the other direction, still he managed to mutter. “He-Hello. My name is Bobo.” “Oh Bobo. I’m Lucas.” Dominic glanced at the two. If his nephew could make friends with the kid and keep him from bothering him then he’d be grateful. His phone vibrated and he frowned, assuming it was Bethany. “Oh great. It’s his sister.” Dominic seethed. “Hello?” Brielle breathed out before responding. “Hello, Dominic. I have a favor t

He had stopped by recently to take his son so there’s no way the place would be deserted within an hour. “Connor!” he called when he noticed someone staggering towards him. He had a knife stab on his sides but it didn’t seem fatal. Bethany caught him as he fell on him. “What the hell happened here?” he yelled but the boy passed out after getting to him. Bethany carried him and began running back to the exit. There were footsteps behind him so he stopped, and turned. “Where you the one who did this?!” he shouted. He left three of his men here. Connor, his older bother and his older brother’s girlfriend. There were other boys from other mafia gangs that came to discuss some issues. If the place was now deserted then it meant they were all down or escaped. But there was no way Connor’s older brother would leave his younger brother here with an injury. An older man walked out, to

Okay then, sign the ownership of Allen Enterprises to me, huh?” The old man frowned deeply. That was the very last thing he’d do. He glared as Bethany brought the knife closer to his face. Would he kill him? And risk being chased by the government forever? But he was a mafia boss so he could get away with it by pinning it on a lackey. What would he do? How’d he advert this? The old man’s eyes shook violently. Frightened by the seemingly impending death before him. Bethany stared at his father’s frightened state. Did he fear death so much while dishing it out to others? Annoyed, he dragged the knife across the old man’s face. Mr. Allen yelped in pain, holding his face. Bethany had a serious expression. “I can remember you giving me a similar wound as a kid. You’re lucky it healed but I’d like to make sure yours doesn’t.” The

Dominic brought blankets to cover them, before it occurred to him that he would needed to carry them to a room to pass the night. The new Thales Mansion he'd bought had the same number of rooms the old one had – ten rooms in total. He transported the kids two in a room. He kept the twins separately with Lucas and Jake so they’d know they weren’t at home. He kept Bobo with him, in case Bethany suddenly called, asking for his son. After making sure they were all tucked in, he returned to his work. He finished within two hours and exhaled tiredly. Being a father and a CEO, the former always seemed the hardest. Since he hadn’t gotten a call yet, he decided to dial Selene’s line. Surely she must have gotten some news to give him. He found a missed call and text message from the security guard at his building. It should be about Freud. He had totally forgotten that man and drove home with his car. “Youn

Chapter Fifty-Three – Pay MeDominic’s words made sense to Allen. He left the ground and held unto the stranger's phone. “Don’t post. I’d tell you who I am and where to drop me. But you have to keep it a secret.” He was really trying to protect his image. Dominic shrugged. “Get into the car then. I’d take you.” A relieved sigh left Mr. Allen’s lips as he walked inside the car. Immediately he got in, Dominic entered and locked the doors, without the old man noticing. “Thank you for this. I really appreciate it.” He said. Dominic made an ‘hmm’ sound. “So how did you get there? That place is off charts for civilians. I was looking for Neem leaves when I found you, you know.” Mr. Allen gasped. “Ah, Neem leaves were around where I was. I’m sorry you didn’t get to take them. I am really sorry.” Dominic rolled his eyes. The old man was acting like some saint now he thought he was out of danger. “No problem. So where should I drop you? And you didn’t answer my earlier question.”

Chapter Fifty-Four – LeaveDominic packed the car in his garage and stretched when he got down. It was time for his body to rest or he’d be useless the next day. He sluggishly walked to his house. Suddenly, a person jumped on him. Timely, he moved aside but made a roundhouse kick to whoever it was. His leg was caught and the person began laughing. “You looked like you were sleepwalking but you’re still so agile.” Bethany chuckled. “Man, you’re funny.” It wasn’t funny to Dominic. That’s an unnecessary movement he had to make. “Weren’t you supposed to be at the hospital? What are you doing here?” Bethany exhaled, finally dropping Dominic’s leg. “I reasoned that I’d rather be where my son is. So I came here.” “To pick him, right?” Dominic gave Bethany the side eyes. “Come on, you have lots of rooms here. I can’t borrow one?” “Yes, you can’t.” Dominic deadpanned. “Return tomorrow for Bobo. He’s asleep. He’s eaten and played so let him rest.” Bethany nodded. “Thanks… but

The twins looked at the lady with slightly annoyed expressions too. That was the lady who scolded there father all the time. Lucas has given them a clue. Selene shook her head. “I could ask the same of you, Mr. Bethany.” She was so tired of having to run around for proof while the two that should help her were busy sharing a bed! “Oh, is this a reoccurring act? You visiting Dominic in his room? That’s suspicious. That’s weird.” Bethany raised a brow. The little boys in the room didn’t understand, but they didn’t like Selene so had an encouraging look. A large bear plushy was thrown at Bethany’s face but he caught it in time. A small girl he hadn’t seen befor

Chapter Eighty-Nine – Celebration It felt like a huge burden had been lifted off his shoulders yesterday, coupled with the good news that the Trial was successful. The burden of the bratty lady who he finally realized was named Kate. She had attacked him in her usual way and Neon confronted her. Sweat beads filled her forehead and words couldn’t leave her mouth. She stammered out a sorry but got ignored. It had been a priceless moment for Dominic. Neon could break up with her from there, after all, his interest were on Selene, not her copycat. The case in court hadn’t been over yet. All that’s left was the court’s sentence over Mr. Allen and Mrs. Jones. Allen Company had been completely given to Brielle to save it. Dominic hadn’t heard from her since she ran out after her argument with Pamela’s argument, but it didn’t bother him. What they shared those few months before his accident faded the moment they began doubting each other. And he wanted focus on his company a

Chapter Eighty-Eight – Joke “I didn’t think you knew Selene.” Neon started after Dorian began to feel sleepy again. “When I saw you two that time I just assumed it was for some reason.” Dominic ignored him, looking at the expenses. “She’s actually your employee. That means she wouldn’t take any other jobs during that time. Her pay may be sort of fair.” Neon added. “Huh?” Dominic raised a brow. “You are only supporting this because you like her, right?” Neon’s cheeks reddened. “What do you… yes?” “Like how long did she…” Dominic paused. Selene had been working for him for almost a year. Did she really take no other job apart from his own? He realized that they had been no cases trending that involved Case Closed for a year now. She totally focused on this one. The comments had cheered her comeback. Truly, for a year, she devoted it to his case. He looked at the expenses. They weren’t preposterous anymore. She was a big shot lawyer who stuck with him for a year. “

The father nodded. “Yes, another one. Be happy that you have tons.” Dorian smiled widely. “I’m happy.” Neon smiled. “I didn’t think you’d have kids.” Why did he sound so familiar? Apologies

Chapter Eighty-Six – ApologiesThe trial was in few days time. Selene became really hot stuff. Dominic sipped on the orange juice Dorian had given him. The comments were entertaining now. Mr. Allen had much more enemies than he knew. Many of them were in the comments engaging in comment sections battles with Mr. Allen deranged fans. Even Brielle’s fan boys were in the comments, only defending Mr. Allen because he hurt their ‘rival’ Young Master Dominic Thales. Dominic also noticed his fan girls replying Brielle’s fan boys. He smirked. The comment section was a really interesting place to be. It had lots of laughs too. There was a knock on his door and Dominic closed the laptop. He had little to do that day, he could even spend it entertaining himself with the comments. Someone entered his office and Dominic’s expression changed. “Norman?!” What was a brat like him doing at his office? The office door widened and Lucian walked in. “Daddy, he said he wanted to speak with yo

    Pretrial

Chapter Eighty-Five – Pre-trialAll Selene’s charges were accepted by the court. The trends shot up when it was released that it was Case Closed that would be handling the case. It was also revealed that Case Closed’s father was killed by Mr. Allen though the reason wasn’t released. It really reduced Mr. Allen’s supporters because unlike the Thales Empire, Case Closed was like a national treasure. The fact made Dominic anxious again because after all was done, he’d have to pay Selene and her price could send him back to bankruptcy. Still, getting justice for his dead relatives would be worth anything. Today was the day of pre-trial. Dominic realized that was something else that made him anxious. Mrs. Jones had been arrested and kept in custody, she returned back to the country and got caught at the airport. A really good lawyer would represent Mr. Allen, he probably would suppress evidence and dismiss some charges. He would be going for a lighter sentence too. Dominic ru

    Argue

Chapter Eighty-Four – Argue The day of charging came. Dominic was thoroughly grateful for the people in his life. Immediately the charges became live, Silas took it live, literally. It had been trending for the past two hours. The secret of Thales Empire’s fall. Dominic wasn’t really fond of that tag because to him, the empire hadn’t fallen but it could have. The young master had gotten numerous submissions of fan mails, especially those entitled fans who were asking him to give the full summary of what happened. Dominic was glad they bothered to know.Selene made the charges sound really heinous. Tadashi was charged with kidnap, manslaughter and torture of Lucas’ father and Mrs. Thales. The man would never get a light sentence especially as he was in a foreign country. Death was a probability for him. Mrs. Jones was charged with conspiracy, murder and attempted murder, law breaking, evading police, amongst other possible charges. Selene just kept them coming. Mr. Allen

Chapter Eighty-Three – No proofDominic smirked. He had also forgotten that she could be crazy too. Her methods would put her in trouble if the doctor’s assistant filed a case against her. Matt cried again as another pen was stabbed into his leg, he felt a thin line of blood stream down his legs. “Start talking.” Brielle ordered. She had to get useful information for Dominic today and now or she wouldn’t be able to face him when she would leave here. Matt cried bitterly. Why was a woman who liked treating him like an animal! All because of that wretched young master. He didn’t want to give up. “Milady, I love you!” A scowl came on Brielle’s face. What, in all the things she had said, translated to him giving her a love confession? Wasn’t he listening to her? She pulled out the first pen she stabbed in and Matt wailed again. She looked him dead in the eyes. “That’s my response, scum! You should learn to know your place!” Matt’s eyes brimmed with tears. It was no use. Then

Chapter Eighty-Two – Crazy LadyCould this be it what started their attack in the first place? Could it be his Grandfather rejected the Society? Dominic couldn’t be so sure. It was only an example by Lucas anyway. Yet, this gave him lots of insights to what could be going on within the Society. He rubbed Lucas head and took out a hundred dollar bill. “This really helped so I’d pay for your services, Teacher Lucas.” His nephew’s eyes widened on seeing the bill, but he comported himself and replied. “Thank you and I hope you learnt a thing or two from my short lecture.” Dominic laughed as he returned to his study room. He should visit his hospital and make enquires. The more of these Society members he finds, the better evidence. Leaving the study later, he found no one in the living room. He looked at the wall. Brielle had drafted a timetable for the kids. By the side there was a calendar for those who followed the timetable exactly and the prizes involved. Dominic slightly
