Hearing Oliver’s words, Denver’s brows furrowed in shock and anger.

He took Oliver’s phone and saw the call connected to Jay.

“Jay?” Denver spoke upon putting the phone on his ear. “Why did you exchange numbers with this shit?”

“I didn’t. He was the one who called me,” Jay answered coldly. “But that wasn’t important now. How could you compete with me?”

Denver chuckled sarcastically. “Compete? You’ve got to be kidding me. I’m not even in your league in the first place.”

“Hah…” Jay scoffed and clenched his fists. “Did you only befriend me because you have gained benefit from me?”

“Jay,” Denver called his name in a dangerously low tone. “You’re making me the villain here. Shouldn’t you be glad that I talked to you in the first place?”

Jay didn’t answer on the other line.

It made Denver smirk as he continued, “Your family may be rich, but you’re a bastard. If not for me, who would talk to or even date you?”

“I may be a bastard, but I treated you as a friend, Denver…” Jay told him, the pain

Carolina showed him the phone screen. She was right. According to the call history, Oliver was the last person Trisha had a conversation with. But that isn’t what took Oliver’s attention. “What made you think I kidnapped Trisha?”“Seriously… You’re asking me that question?” Carolina asked, her voice laced with disbelief. “It was because of that necklace. Are you that petty to take it back from her?”Oliver paused as his brows furrowed, then asked, “Someone stole the necklace?”“Hah. Why are you making it sound like it’s not you?” Carolina scoffed and crossed her arms.“Because it’s not me,” Oliver answered without hesitation.Seeing how Oliver was denying the accusation, Carolina became hysterical. “According to a witness, someone pulled the necklace from my daughter’s neck, and took her in a white van! And now, you’re telling me it’s not you?!”“Yes.” Oliver nodded. “Your statements don't even prove any evidence that it was me who orchestrated the kidnapping.”Carolina pointed at hi

Trisha’s brows furrowed. “How?”“Simple. Just answer all the questions I have regarding your ex-husband.” He smirked. “Once you answer it right, I might spare you. But if not…”The man left his threat in the air.It made Trisha gulp, her gaze moving between the man and the goons surrounding her.“First question,” he said, his body leaning toward Trisha. “How long has that ex-husband of yours had that necklace?”“I-I don’t know!” Trisha answered honestly, the fear evident in her eyes. “That necklace belonged to my father, and… and…”“And what?” the man asked, his gaze darkening. “Cole Henverton is one of Oliver’s allies?”“No!” Trisha denied it immediately. “M-My father only saved Oliver when she found him in the river before. W-We don’t have any relation to him!”The man smirked upon hearing Trisha’s explanation.“So someone saved him, huh… That’s why he survived,” he said in a dangerously low tone. “Then, did Oliver tell you something after Cole saved him?”“L-Like what?”“A mission…

Oliver’s brows furrowed upon seeing the caller. It has the same number on his call history—the one who called him repeatedly while his phone was broken.‘Only a few people know my number,’ Oliver thought, knowing he doesn’t give his number just to anyone. Then, he realized something. ‘Could it be…’Without hesitation, Oliver answered the call. “Who is this?”“Finally, Oliver. You answered the call,” a man said on the other line, his voice low and intimidating. “What took you so look, anyway? I almost killed Trisha because I’m pissed.”Oliver froze. “You’re the one who took Trisha

There were two messages sent to Oliver.First is the location where Trisha was staying. The second is a photo of three men looking at Trisha, who is still asleep.“See the lust in their eyes?” the man asked with a smirk. “They’ve wanted to touch Trisha since earlier, but I’m stopping them.”“You bastard…” Oliver muttered, the anger evident in his tone. “Touch her and you’re dead.”Hearing those words made the man chuckle.“Damn, man. You still have feelings for her. You can’t deny that now,” the man said, feeling confident in his statement.Oliver clenched his fists. He knew it wasn’t true, but Trisha’s her ex-wife, after all.“You won’t understand the feeling of being concerned because you’re an asshole in the first place,” Oliver said in a straightforward manner. The man chuckled again, sensing that Oliver was being heated up in their conversation.“Whatever names you will call me won’t matter,” the man said, his tone dark. He added, “Once you shit with me again, not only I’ll scat

“I’ll take this,” the man who tied him said as he took the phone from Oliver’s pocket. He turned it off, while he threw the knife he got on Oliver’s waist to the floor. The man, on the other hand, handed Trisha to one of the goons, placing her back on the chair.“I told you that there should be no dirty tricks, but you’re not following me,” the man said, shaking his head. “Or maybe you wanted her to be hurt? She cheated on you, after all.”Oliver grunted and lunged forward, but failed. He was tied, and someone had the knife pointed at Trisha. It was like indirectly telling that one wrong move and Trisha’s life would be in danger.“Never in my life have I thought that you’re still alive, Zero,” the man said, his tone dangerously low.He added, “You disappeared three years ago, and now, I’ll find you in this place? I wonder what a man like you was doing in a shabby town like this.”Although their town also looked good compared to the other villages, it was still inferior to the Capital.

Oliver’s expression didn’t falter. Instead, his smirk deepened. “Using someone else to get at me? That only proves how pathetic you are.”He chuckled darkly, and Zayne’s grip on him tightened.“High rank in the military?” Oliver leaned in slightly, his voice dripping with disdain. “Doesn’t mean a damn thing if you don’t have the guts to back it up... You coward.”Zayne’s eyes narrowed, his jaw tightening as the veins in his neck pulsed with fury. Without another word, he delivered a brutal punch to Oliver’s jaw, the impact sharp and resounding in the dimly lit room.“You think you’re tough, huh?” Zayne spat, his voice seething with anger. He shook out his knuckles. “That you can just waltz back into this world like nothing happened?”Oliver’s head snapped back with the force of the blow, but his smirk never wavered. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, but his eyes, cold and defiant, locked onto Zayne’s.“Keep talking,” Oliver taunted, his voice low and steady despite the m

That’s what Oliver always tells us,” Jack replied, then paused. “Right, commander?”Oliver was just silent until now.He was analyzing every pros and cons on the battlefield.“Shot them with the bazooka,” Oliver commanded in a serious tone. “It will distract them, and the time would be enough for us to escape.”“I

There were intruders in the building.]“Shit,” Dominic muttered a curse as someone opened the door for him.He entered the building, and he was immediately followed by five bodyguards on the back. One of Dominic’s managers, who was in charge of the top floor, went onto him, immediately keeping up with the pace.“What’s the situation?” Dominic asked, his walk calm yet urgent.“We lost the intruders, Sir,” the manager said, his voice low. Don’t speak,” Oliver commanded as he leaned in, his voice low. “If you value your life, you’ll stay low.”Nodding frantically, the guard looked at Oliver, with his eyes widening. At first, Oliver hesitated to hurt the guard. After all, these two were ordinary guards patrolling the exit. However, a few seconds later, he knocked the guard out. They didn’t have time for risks.“Damn. I thought you’d let him be,” Ray teased, shaking his head.Oliver smirked. “Not a chance.”With the guards down, they both moved to the loading dock door.“We’re already outside, waiting for you two,” Samuel’s voice came t

His gaze moved between the three doors and even on the pathway that would bring them back to the abandoned storage room.‘All of them had different risks, and the second door could be detrimental to our health as we’re unsure about the chemicals in the air,’ Oliver thought, frowning. He pondered for a few seconds. After that, he pushed the door open, revealing another narrow path—almost identical to the path they had walked onto earlier. The only difference is that this other path has yellow

In front of them were three metal security doors with combination locks.“There is,” Oliver said, frowning in confusion. “This could… Is there more danger to it than fighting with the enemies outside?”“To be honest, I don’t know,” James admitted as he did his best to search for more information about the secret passageway.“There could only be two reasons,” Samuel said, preparing to leave. “Either that place was their old escape route…”“...Or they’re still using it for whatever reason, and that’s why they didn’

They might be hiding in other rooms.”“Yes, Sir.”Both of them heard footsteps running outside the storage room, and a few seconds later, it was gone. That’s the only time Ray could breathe properly. If those people knew about the secret door and his hunch was wrong, then it could be the end of them.“It was so dark in here,” Ray muttered, his gaze fixated in front. “Not even a single light could penetrate the area.”There was no window or other area aside from

There could be a bloody fight inside Argus Industries. However, since their only goal is to take information about Dominic Hawthorne and Argus Industries, Oliver and Ray do their best to avoid combat.“It’s clear,” Ray muttered as he reached the intersection first, halting just long enough to check both directions. “Let’s go!”Both of them sprinted down the corridor, yet their footsteps were silent against the carpeted floor.“Turn right,” said James on the other line, with his aggressive typing on the keyboard heard in the background. “At the end of the hall, you’ll see a maintenance stairwell.”“Is that exit safe?” Ray asked, his breathing ragged.“To be hone

There are five of them in total. “Who would volunteer?”“We’ll go,” Oliver said, raising his hand alongside Ray. “We’ll do the job quickly so all of us can go home without any problems.”“Alright.” she nodded, her expression stern. “Do your job properly.
