Chapter 79

Under the vibrant glow of the fireworks, I gazed at Celeste, her beauty shining brightly, but that wasn't all that filled my thoughts. Her bravery, her solitude with no one but me for company—it was never just about me.

I stood there, taking in her presence. She was slightly shorter than me, and I could see in her eyes, shimmering with hope and anticipation, that she was waiting for me. It required a tremendous amount of courage to express what she did.

With open arms, I beckoned, "Come hug me."

She responded in kind, wrapping her arms around me as I hugged her back, my hand gently caressing her head and hair. "Don't force yourself," I whispered. "I will never leave you alone. Take it one step at a time; there's no need to rush. Just take your time."

"I love you," Celeste murmured.
