Meanwhile, the wooden cart pulling a wagon of children moved at a moderate speed. Zorka couldn't sleep all night.
The rattling wheels crossing the rocky road shook the small bodies inside the wagon. Suddenly, the cart stopped.
Slam!
The wagon door opened roughly. A bald man opened the door. Behind him, a middle-aged man was seen starting a bonfire.
"Hey, kids, wake up!" Hogs barked.
"Tsk, Hogs. Don't be rough on them. You'll only make them scared," said the man who lit the bonfire.
"Hurry up, Wellder. Those kids need to get ready now," Hogs replied sharply.
Wellder chuckled at Hogs' attitude. "Take it easy; the slave auction is tonight. We've got plenty of time. Treat them well, Hogs. Don't let them get hurt; it reduces their resale value."
This time, Hogs growled. "Yeah, yeah... I get it, old man. Now, where are their spare clothes? They need to clean up in the river so they're not all stinky."
"Just look behind the wagon. I'll prepare breakfast for them. It could be risky if they get sick from hunger during the auction," Wellder said, setting up a toaster over the campfire.
"Whatever," Hogs replied nonchalantly.
The kids inside watched silently as their two captors interacted. Fear was evident in their eyes, except for Zorka.
Since Hogs opened the door, Zorka had been observing. He assessed the situation, seemingly deep in thought, possibly planning something.
Zorka touched his belt; the poison she made in the woods was still there. Hearing the kidnappers' words, he was sure they intended to sell him and the kids.
In his original body's memory, Renata often warned about child abductors like Hogs and Wellder. Zorka's mom always cautioned him if he played outside the Kayleigh mansion.
"Watch out for child abductors. They target unsuspecting kids playing alone or those who get lost. Right now, Mom can't give you magical protection because Dad has his confined."
Zorka pondered, not because of his caring mom's advice, but wondering why her mom was confined.
The memories of the original body were hazy, as if something intentionally got erased.
Zorka snapped back when he heard Hogs yelling. The bald man ordered the kids to line up and follow his instructions.
"Line up neatly, take these clothes, clean yourselves in that river. Afterward, come back here for your breakfast.”
A piece of boys' pajama resembling a nightgown is handed to them. Hogs points to where the kids should clean up.
They're on a savanna valley with a breathtaking view. Below, there's a small river with clear water. Some trees grow near the river, adding beauty to the place.
Kids are told to bathe in a river hollow resembling a pool. The river is shallow, only up to an adult's knees, but it's suitable for the kids to clean themselves.
After handing out the clothes, Hogs warns them threateningly, "Remember, don't even think about running from us! Even though the distance from the river to the wooden train carriages where we park is quite far, we'll be keeping an eye on you. See this!"
Hogs raises his palm. Instantly, a greenish-black flash of light appears, forming a small snake figure.
A 15 cm-long snake with green scales on its back and black on its belly hisses. Its shining red eyes are menacing.
"This snake is named Venomcoil, a level 2 beastmaster creature. It's got potent poison, strong enough to take down a hundred people in a single strike.
Now, for you folks planning to take a dip in the river later, be cautious! Venomcoil won't hesitate to greet you with its fangs.
Oh, don't be surprised by the size you see now. Actually, Venomcoil has a body as big as the trunk of a centuries-old oak tree."
Hogs tossed Venomcoil into the air. Suddenly, the snake was enveloped in magical energy. Returning to its original form, Venomcoil emerged as a large snake with menacing fangs, raising its head and hissing.
Some kids screamed in fear, hugging each other spontaneously. Only Zorka widened his eyes upon seeing the true form of Venomcoil.
"Wow, in their world, that would definitely be called a magical snake!" Zorka thought to himself.
The children's cries echoed, blending with Venomcoil's hissing, as if threatening their ears.
"See that, huh? So, follow my orders! Now, head to the river without making a fuss. Venomcoil will tag along. While we'll be sitting here, watching you guys."
The kids followed Hogs' commands. Zorka reluctantly obeyed too. Despite being impressed by Hogs' beastmaster, something worried him.
"Uh-oh! How can I poison those two kidnappers?" Zorka thought, "And I didn't expect the bald guy to have a magical creature like this."
He looked up, gazing at the beastmaster snake. Venomcoil seemed aware of being observed by a child. He turned his head towards Zorka, who was standing among the kids.
Seeing Venomcoil's reaction, Zorka quickly lowered his head. However, Venomcoil sniffed something alarming from the children.
The snake sniffed a few times, flicking its tongue to sense something dangerous. Venomcoil's pupils enlarged. He sensed the presence of poison in the air, a quite dangerous one. However, he couldn't yet identify which among the kids carried the poison.
The children slowly undressed one by one. Then, they entered the river to clean themselves. Venomcoil kept an eye on each kid bathing in the river.
The atmosphere by the river was truly refreshing. A few meters from where the kids were bathing, there was a not-so-high waterfall, surrounded by tall and lush trees.
While scrubbing his body, Zorka gazed towards the waterfall. He felt something pressing from behind the waterfall, as if there was an electric current flowing, sending shivers through his entire body.
"There's something behind that waterfall," Zorka thought.
However, Zorka's attention shifted after hearing the cries of other children. Venomcoil went berserk, hissing at the kids.
"Psssssh, whose clothes are these? Answer or I'll eat you!" Venomcoil threatened.
None of the kids claimed the clothes hanging from Venomcoil's tail, except Zorka, who remained calm upon realizing that a beastmaster could speak.
Hogs, observing the threat from Venomcoil in the distance, approached the river.
"Wooo, big snake. Easy there!" Hogs said, patting Venomcoil's scaly back.
Venomcoil hissed again.
"Look at this, sir! A child hiding poison. Seems like one of these kids has prepared a defense."
Venomcoil tossed the clothes onto the ground near Hogs' feet. Some poison concoctions spilled onto the ground.
"These poisons are well-crafted, sir. One of them can even rival my venom," Venomcoil said.
Hearing this, Hogs' eyes turned cold. A chilly, murderous aura emanated from the bald man.
Zorka, eavesdropping on the conversation between two beings from different realms, was startled.
“Damn! My crafted poison is exposed!”
Venomcoil noticed something. None of the kids dared to admit it, except for one child who, from the beginning, had caught his attention by keeping a distance from the others. It was Zorka. Venomcoil directly stared at Zorka, who was startled upon realizing that Venomcoil seemed to suspect him.Venomcoil slithered, moving closer to Zorka. Unconsciously, Zorka stepped back. Although impressed by the beastmaster, he couldn't escape his fear of the giant reptile.Honestly, at that moment, Zorka panicked. The snake approached Zorka. Its head, initially upright, now leaned towards him. It extended its forked tongue.Zorka's eyes showed fear. He hoped that the river water he used to clean his body would remove the scent of his poison.Venomcoil suddenly raised its head, forming an "S" with its neck."This human child is the owner of the poison!" Venomcoil shouted.Hogs, who was interrogating other kids, was distracted by Venomcoil. He saw a thin, messy-haired child being threatened by the sna
Zorka was shocked witnessing the death of the level two beastmaster snake. Its body dried up and turned into ashes. Then, a rumbling sound echoed in the cave, startling Zorka. His body trembled uncontrollably, and his teeth chattered loudly. Meanwhile, from the stone shaped like a dragon's head, a bluish light emanated."Groar, not enough! Low-level monster energy can't break this curse!"A heavy, furious voice resonated, making Zorka's heart race. Sweat covered his body, even though the air in the cave was icy. "Wh-who is it?" Zorka suddenly retorted, strengthening his resolve to inquire of the figure speaking.Hearing the voice of a child responding, the voice chuckled."Ah, I seem to have forgotten about this little creature.”Zorka was startled to hear the voice calling him. Something emerged from the dragon head statue. A transparent dragon spirit revealed itself.Seeing this, Zorka crawled backward and curled up, crossing his arms in front of his face."Dra-dragon! Please don't
The explosion destroyed the cave where Azurks was cursed. Earlier, Azurks instinctively wrapped Zorka's body in a protective bubble spell, shielding the kid from the cave debris.Meanwhile, Hogs, now conscious and being treated by Wellder, was shocked. The kids screamed in fear. A sudden earthquake hit the valley, accompanied by explosions, rocks, and soil scattering. What was even more terrifying was the rumbling growl followed by the emergence of a blue crystal dragon wriggling out from the river and the shattered ground.Azurks's shimmering scales glint under the sunlight. Zorka, floating within a magical bubble, looks amazed witnessing the valley destroyed by Azurks' emergence.Meanwhile, Wellder and Hogs tremble, collapsing in fear. The kidnapped kids, terrified, faint."What creature is that?" shouts Wellder, hugging Hogs.Hogs, wide-eyed, can't utter a word. His body shakes, and his teeth chatter from the fear felt by Wellder.Roaaar.Azurks roars."At last, I'm free!”Zorka sc
"Wow, amazing!" Zorka's eyes sparkled as she gazed at the glowing round ball floating in her hand. Suddenly...Pop!The magic vanished without a trace, leaving Zorka startled. Azurks snorted, smoke puffing from his nostrils."Tsk, looks like you need practice to control your magic power.""See, I told you it's better if you do it. Punish them, make them helpless," Zorka said.Without a word, Azurks immediately flapped his wings. A wave of magic with a blue lightning-shaped fire element struck Hogs and Wellder directly.Bam!Thunder roared, shocking Hogs and Wellder as they got zapped by thousands of volts of lightning magic. The jolt messed up their nerves, making their bodies go limp."Alright, what are you gonna do with them now, Zorka?" Azurks asked."I'll take them to the nearest town or kingdom. Find some royal officers who deal with criminals like them. Then..." Zorka glanced at the unconscious kids."I'll take these kids back home. I'm sure their parents are freaking out and sa
After turning in the two criminals and the evidence, Zorka asked the kingdom's law enforcers if he could use his wooden cart and horses to take the kidnapped children back home. However, they said no because the cart and horses were considered evidence. Instead, they arranged for a law enforcement horse-drawn carriage, and an officer was assigned to accompany the kids.Learning this, Zorka initially decided not to go with them. He wanted to wander around and didn't want to return to Kayleigh's mansion yet, feeling it wasn't the right time to go back to his birthplace. But..."No way. You have to take us home. Didn't you say you'd take us to our houses?”"Yeah, your words were a promise, don't break it!""We'd actually be happy if you came along to take us. Boohoo."All the kids protested when they found out Zorka didn't keep his word in the savannah valley."Zorka looked confused by the situation. Azurks laughed seeing his master getting more puzzled."So, what's the deal? You better
Azurks slowly opened his eyes. He returned to his body when Zorka was no longer riding the kingdom's legal office carriage. He gazed at Zorka and muttered, "Truly sad. That human willingly let their child's soul be replaced in this frail body. What disgusts me is the behavior of this child's father. Saved by the child's mother during pregnancy. Actually, the original owner's child's soul had fairly strong magic energy even in the womb. When dark magic attacked, it was the power of this child's original body's soul that protected the father. So, when born, this child had no magic energy. Tsk. Humans can be so cruel even with a life debt.”Zorka, walking aimlessly after being dropped off at a crossroads in a rural village, felt Azurks perched on his shoulder."You're awake, I see. You slept soundly," telepathically remarked Zorka."I didn't sleep!" protested Azurks, refusing to accept it.Then, Azurks cleared his throat."Ahem, just now, I met Renata."Zorka's eyes widened in disbelief.
Zorka returned to his room after enjoying the hot spring. He changed into clothes the inn's servant bought for him. Time for dinner. But something felt off.He checked the room, "Oh, damn! My gold coin pouch is gone!" Zorka cursed loudly.Remembering when he went for a hot spring bath, he was sure he locked the door. Zorka grunted. Trying to telepathically connect with Azurks, he said, "Azurks, my gold coin pouch is missing. Seems someone entered my inn room. They might have a spare key. Can you find out who did it?"Azurks, busy gnawing on a thorned bison monster, nonchalantly replied, "There's a way. Well, you were careless. Humans can't be trusted, especially when it comes to gold.""Actually, I'm not sure you need my help, Zorka. You probably already have a hunch about who took your coins, right?" Azurks greedily devoured a piece of meat."Ah, turns out you can read my mind," Zorka chuckled."Of course, kiddo! Besides, this is something your soul can handle on its own. Why do you
The exit from the kitchen inn leads to a narrow alley. The end of the alley points towards the forest at the foot of Oakpeak mountains. Rico walks towards a path into the woods, and Zorka follows, occasionally hiding behind trees when Rico looks around cautiously."Where's he headed?" Zorka wonders, keeping an eye on Rico's suspicious actions.Rico stops briefly to check his surroundings, making sure he's not being followed. Rico uses a magical glass ball with fire inside to light up his way. Then, he continues walking into the forest. The short guy reached a place with big rocks piled up near a large oak tree. The bright light turned the dark and creepy forest into something quite calming. Zorka sneaked behind the wild bushes under the oaks, keeping a close eye.Rico checked his surroundings again, making sure no one was tailing him. Even though he sensed something, he couldn't figure out what or who was following him. Then, Rico's voice echoed, calling someone."Hey, Alex. Show your
